From Ozzy Osbourne to Christina Aguilera

Awesome celebrity real estate blogger Mister Big Time is on FIRE this week!! First he breaks the news about David Spade's $16,000,000 house in Malee-boo, and today he tells us that the rumors about preggers Christina Aguilera and her music mogul huzband Jordan Bratman purchasing the Doheny Road house of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne are true. TRUE!

While we still think it's an unusual and surprising choice for the Bratman/Aguilera's, property records do confirm the sale. No word on the purchase price, but the house had been listed at $11,995,000.

Your Mama expects that in a month or two the couple's stunning Devlin Drive house will go on the market for a large sum of money. We also expect the couple will move from the Osbourne house to less public and illustrious digs in a year or two after they tire of all the tour buses parked out front and the Japanese tourists trying to climb over the wall. Just a hunch.

But Mister Big Time is not done breaking stories there. Oh no!

He ALSO tells all us celebrity real estate tongue waggers that the Osbournes have purchased a sprawling, 10,953 square foot house in suburban Hidden Hills that features 6 bedrooms and a staggering 10 bathrooms. The 2.35 acre property sits just around the corner from the 10,223 square foot house Brad Garret had on the market earlier this year, and the humongous 11,518 square foot house Matt LeBlanc had on the market in the Spring. Your Mama hears from a very reliable source that Mister LeBlanc's house, which was listed at $10,295,000, has been sold.

We find the Osbourne's choice of Hidden Hills a little surprising. We're not at all surprised they would choose a guard gated community or that they would buy another mammoth house. But in Hidden Hills? Really? Now children, do not send us a thousand emails about how Hidden Hills is a lovely community loaded with lots of famous people. We know. But the Osbournes? How are the horsey neighbors in Hidden Hills going to like a big crucifix gracing the front gates? Hmm. Does this mean they're settling down for a quiet life of semi retired celebrities who sit on the back patio sipping iced tea watching the grass grow?

After seeing how Ozzy Osbourne looks and acts these days, sitting and watching the grass grow is mostly likely all he is capable of on a regular basis. I guess I don't see why it matters (when you are a celebrity holed up in a gated mansion) if it is in Beverly Hills or Hidden Hills.

i never even knew there WAS a hidden hills. it is an ODD place for them to live, i agree mama. i never understood calabasas either. and please don't hate on me for saying that. i am sure basas is a LOVELY place. i drove through it once to get to the beach.

at odds,

:)

Doheny ROAD Mama ; )

I'm not really surprised about the Osbournes buying in Hidden Hills ... They have always lived in the english countryside in a huge sprawling rural estate in Buckinghamshire [that isn't dotted with crucifixes etc]... They always had guards at their Doheny Rd property so living in a gated community will bring them more security & following their burglary at their British home where Ozzy tackled the intruder but he still managed to get away with $4Million worth of Sharons jewellery I guess they are quite obsessive about security. Kelly & Jack are mostly in London these days & Sharon & Ozzy spend a lot of time back in England so I'm not rlly sure why they need such a huge place in Hidden Hills - especially when they have homes in Malibu ... who knows - but Hidden Hills is really nice & I guess it's pretty easy to grow bored of 90210 ...

I can't believe that Aguilera/Bratman are going from sexy to faux. I LOVE their Devlin house. Steve Hermann did that place, and I really like his work. Though I did have to laugh when (on the Posh Beckham show) when she was touring one of the houses, Steve Hermann said, "it was built from the ground up" and Lady Becks said, "aren't all houses?"

Back to topic, I just ain't a fan of the Doheny lair. I remember when it was for sale in the 90's for around $5Mil. And it wasn't as fauxed up, but rather vanilla.

Oh well, not my $multi-million$ but whatever.

P.S. there is a Cliff May 2 houses down on Devlin that was or is for sale. Anyone know if it is still on the market?

The Osbournes completely rebuilt the Doheny Rd property in the late 90's - That property is new - The interiors aren't to everyones taste but the exterior architecture is beautiful - I live along the street & it's one of the nicest properties on Doheny Rd [by no means the largest, but one of the more pleasing]

P.S - The interior of Aguileras house is just as tacky as the Osbournes. Not one of hermans better projects - it's pretty nasty in fact.

I beg to differ, anon 5:22.

We just obviously have different tastes, if you like the way the Doheny house looks. I'm not knocking you, just saying its funny how you think the Devlin house is nasty, I think the Doheny house is.

Actually, I don't really go for spanish architecture but I can appreciate how beautiful the Doheny Rd property is from the outside - The interior is a different matter, totally not my taste!

As for Aguileras house - The interiors are dark & some rooms are pretty tacky [brown velvet walls!] - there is to much design & I think Steve has perhaps tried to hard & it just hasn't worked out perfectly ... also, his properties tend to all be quite similar which I dislike - I actually really like 9258 Nightingale which is on the market at the moment but there are aspects of it I would need to change - I just don't think he uses colour very well.

I like mid-century modern, glass & white walls so perhaps I just don't like colour & texture.

Gotcha. It is a bit over the top but then again, the home was originally built for Liza Minelli, so I guess I just figure it should be. I agree it is not my specific taste either, I'd much rather modern a la Tom Ford's Neutra house in Bel Air.

And I feel much better knowing you don't love the Doheny interiors.

I also agree with you, the Nightingale house is pretty great.

the house they bought belongs to my parent's friends, and i am almost positive it wasnt on the market. it is shingle styled, done very well, and has underwater speakers in the pool. it was built for a family and grandparents, so there is a wing of the house with a second mastersuite and i think another kitchen. that is about all i know, besides the fact that it was featured in a magazine of some sort.

I live just up the street from Ozzy's old place. It's right near Greystone Mansion. The problem is that it's on the tour bus route and there are also lines of cars in the summer stopping while people jump out and have their photo taken at the gate. I used to see Ozzy pose for photos all the time with these people. I have almost hit people with my car on more than one occassion as they ran across the street. It's scary. It's a lovely neighborhood- I love living there except for the coyotes.

Anonymous said...

Wow! There are some large homes out in this area. A couple of the neighborhoods are starting to look like Beverly Park type stuff.

Oh do catch up Mama...this happened a while ago. You are much better at getting scoop. Those of us in the brokerage community have known this for weeks, darling. Get back to Madonna dumping Barry Peele...much better news. Snap! A bitch slap heard around the world.

"I used to see Ozzy pose for photos all the time with these people."

I live along towards the end of Doheny & I've never seen any of the family outside the gates of the property. I doubt it very much, they have guards at the gate so even people wanting to take their pic by the gate are moved away. The Osbournes have no reason to step foot outside the property.

I really like the Doheny Road house Ozzy used to own, but would change the interior to suit my taste as I'm sure Christina will. I'm so over faux finishes for the most part.

Thanks for confirming the sale and providing specifics for those of us not privy to insider Beverly Hills brokerage information Mama; much appreciated.

Anon @ 8:01 PM, I seem to recall in the early days of the show Ozzy posed with fans too, but then Sharon made him stop the more it turned into a circus. I've just got to ask.. coyotes?

Anonymous said...

Phoenix - Coyotes are a problem in many L.A neighborhoods - especially in the hills & in this case the foothills .... even sometimes in the beverly hills flats u see the odd one .... not good if u have cats, small dogs etc...

I nvr rlly watched the Osbournes but perhaps when the show started back in the early 2000's then perhaps Ozzy posed for the odd pic but they have a lot of security at the house & people don't even get a chance to stop out front ... not to mention that for the past 3 years the family have been mainly in England & have NOT lived at this property - its had limited furniture in it b/c nobody has rlly lived there since it went on the market several years ago.

Ahh, thanks Anon. I knew Ca. had coyotes but never saw one myself, and wasn't sure if Anon @ 8:01 PM was using it as a euphemism for pesky tourists or not. If I was Christina, I'd plunk an 'Ozzy Dosen't Live Here Anymore' sign out front for awhile and hope for the best.

I agree with the first anon person -- Beverly Hills, Hidden Hills, they are ALL "hidden" no matter where you are ... and Hidden Hills IS breathtaking.

Anon 8/13 5:06 - Supposedly the Cliff May did finally sell (although I would call that "up" the street since it is at the top end). The Sassoons were toying with buying it. I don't know who ended up with it.

I've been hoping Mama would turn up the story on it as it was obviously owned by an industry person.

I saw Kelly on the street with friends in front of the gates in January when I was last in LA. The house was very much lived in at that time.

Maybe the neighbors will toss a "welcome ham" over the fence for Christina?

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:15

Yes, sorry "up" the street, technically speaking. I think there's only one house between them. Who owned the home? I was informed that it had been owned by the same person for a really long time. It needs work, but could be really special.

I too, heard that the Sassoons were considering.

Phoenix:

Coyotes are sometimes seen, even as low as Doheny Estates and lower Trousdale. The only place I've EVER seen one is on Coldwater Canyon. But people sort of play this up, in all honesty. Back in the 80's there were all kinds of weird rumors about coyote attacks regularly along Mulholland, but all hearsay.

My recommendation to Christina would be to increase the Security Measures already in place. Add more cameras, outdoor beams etc.
People trespass on that property. I see them walk up to the gates, pose for pictures, pick flowers, ring the door/gate bells. Sometimes they try and take something from out front(to prove they were there. The tour vans go by all day long.....at night teens come in cars etc.......

At least you have Beverly Hills P.D., but still.....they may need to have a guard sit out front 24/7.

I could never, ever live in a house the Osbournes have occupied. Not only is the entire house used as a toilet for cats and dogs (I'd have to strip the floors and walls down to the "roots" and start over) but you know that house has to have a lot of bad ju-ju.

Hidden Hills is a wonderful peaceful area, and I hope thats why they move there.
Having a new reality show in there,
is not going to work out.

Nancypants just reminded me:

"Lola is shitting aliens everywhere!" - Sharon Osbourne on her English Bulldog using the study as a poop den.

as a residence of hidden hills, i agree with the statement below:

"Hidden Hills is a wonderful peaceful area, and I hope thats why they move there.

i lived in hollywood and bev hills and opted for the privacy both hidden hills and calabassas affords. a lot of us prefer this to the more obvious malibu and yes there is a guard at the opening, you have to live here to get in. it is also incredibly safe, unlike most places (rich or poor) in all of california

people are not affected by another celeb in the neighborhood and like most los angelenos probably won't even know they are there (or care)

a few posters mentioned the Steve Herman-designed house at 9258 Nightingale- I tried to find it on the mls and prudential sites and its not on either one any more. Does anyone have the scoop on whether it was sold or rented or what??? Dying to find out more.

And yes, I agree- his houses tend to look all the same. At least they are all 'ok' and not all 'ugly'. Does anyone know if he normally includes the furnishings in the purchase price?

Anonymous said...

well sorry to say but I drive by their house on Doheny at least 4 times a day and yes I have seen Ozzy posing for photos many many times. I have even seen him get out of his car to do it. so no need to doubt what I say- why the heck would I make that up anyway?

re coyotes-
I see them at least a few times a week as I drive up Schyler. Also had a mountain lion strolling up my driveway a couple of years ago and a full grown deer- antler rack and all- eating in my backyard a month ago.

Anybody know the agent for the sale (1443 Delvin Dr) or the purchase (Doheny Rd) for Christina Aguilera? Thanks a million

Speaking of Hidden Hills...there's another gated community a couple of miles from Hidden Hills (closer to West Hills) called Bell Canyon. A lot of Hollywood people live there too in lovely homes. Alyssa Milano, Jamie Farr, Holly Marie Combs, Shelley Berman, Lyndsay Fonseca, Bruce Campbell, Larry Wilcox etc, etc.

Honestly i am family friends with the old owners of the house and used to spend practcally every weekend there.. i now live around the corner and down the street are the kardashians/jenners. its not a big deal to the people in here... we are used to it

Mama,
who owned 1443 Devlin Dr. before Christina & Jordan? What is Tiger Woods connection to the property, or one of his mistresses' connection to Devlin. Is Christina bi? There was a mad swinger party there a couple of years ago and the women picked the girls who could play.
