Your Mama Hears...

...from the always informative Babbling Babette that the widow Spelling has backed out of her $47,000,000 contract to purchase the top two floors of the yet to be completed A.M. Stern designed building called The Century in the Century City area of Los Angeles.

Your Mama has no idea why Candy darling has decided against the 16,000 square foot custom designed penthouse with 360 degree views of Los Angeles, but according to Babette, she did.

We're sure that Miz Brenoff down at the battered and beleaguered L.A. Times will soon get the scoop and all the juicy 411, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

It is likely that she realized she would at least have to pass by the riff-raff when entering and exiting her new "apart-ment". Why subject yourself to others when you could stay in your landscaped grounds and live in a mammoth rambler all tarted up like a mansion? Still, it would have been fun to see what her taste would have done to\with the new space......I bet all those dolls are relieved at having escaped the dumpster.

I have one answer

BECAUSE NEXT YEAR SHE CAN GET THE SAME CONDO FOR 4.7 MM

she is a shrewd business lady

She already lives in the biggest house in the nation just about, and it's not far from this apartment. Maybe she started feeling redonkulous about it in light of how tough life is suddenly getting for so many.

When Candy Spelling showed off The Manor on 'The Early Show' she highlighted her favorite painting entitled "I's Biggest!"...it seems to me that Candy couldn't bear the thought of not being the biggest anymore. Plus, with the economy the way it is I am willing to bet that, on paper, the Spelling fortune of $500 million has declined somewhat. There's no mortgage on The Manor.

Chile, please…

My guess is she came to the realization that when she pointed and said, "I live here!" that people would know the whole building wasn't hers.

Size queen.

Snowman, the image of all those dolly-eyes staring up from the depths of the dumpster is beyond disturbing…

just gossip, no facts behind it, but old , i mean old friend says Candy was a "working girl" many decades ago, same source says old lady minelli , who liza tried to kick out of the house at beverly and sunset blvd and finally bought her out... (someone got a great buy at 3.5million)anyway, madam minelli was , well ,a madam , cause old man minelli (gay) did not leave much of an estate, she did her deeds even before madam alex who ruled los angeles for 30yrs with the protections from chief gates, until heidi fless ruined it all.

i hope she dose not sell the manor!

average joe :[-) said...

She is going to sell the manor and buy the penthouse next year for a 90% discount 4.7 MM

that is about the time the dow will be 2000 and the uber rich will be having firesales throughout the world

why do you ask ???

here is a hint

daniel sadek, mozillo and others

they drove up the real estate around the world writing up and selling bad paper that would never get paid back so and getting 500MM in credit lines from our virgin instutitions...........

So the instutitions sells them to Joe millionaire, he buys them and he becomes..........

Joe billionaire, now times that by a million and this is where you had your very very large amount of buyers that were buying up properties in droves with ...........

worthless paper....... loans that never got paid back

so now Joe billionaire has to unload his very expensive properties at a discount because his paper is now worthess.........

end of story

average joe :[-) said...

and to stay out of jail Joe now 30k millionaire now has to sell of his stocks, reason the dow is going down to 2000..........

average joe :[-) said...

oh and here is his story in case you think I am full of shit

this guy went from car salesman to an owner of a loan company with 700 employees in a matter of 5 years

his company wrote up 3.8 billion in loans and he made 80MM for himself and had a 400 MM credit line from citigroup

now since citigroup canceled the credit line he is 16MM in debt and out of business

btw you can see his movies "redline" on starz and hbo he financed them for 40MM

ONLY IN AMERICA I wish I was smart enough to do what he did because these scams will not be allowed again for another 20 years

LOL

grrr.. it's sooo dissappointing to open up a comment thread only to discover that Mr. Attention Starved has usurped and ruined yet another one. There, I said it, after biting my lip for a long, long time now, and feel much better for it.

My guess would be not that she can't afford or thinks she can get that condo cheaper later on, but rather that she probably came to the realization that in this market, noone is going to pony up nearly the astronomical amount she probably has in her head to sell the manor for...It's one thing to part with the biggest house in LA, quite another to part with it at a fire sale price ;-)

I was shocked when this move was first mooted. Okay, maybe she is sick of having her home over-run with hired help and fancied doing the dusting for once by herself in a much smaller abode, but to go from that behemoth to a positively teeny space high in the sky, deffo a no-no. Once she had done the dusting and loaded the dishwasher, she would have had nothing to do but get out the binoculars and gaze over at her old place and wonder what on earth had possessed her......And yes those dolls, indeed....! She should stay put and when all those miles of corridors get too much for her, she should splash out on one of those golf carts that Eva Longoria uses to get around the Desperate Housewives Studios. Sorted.

She was probably never moving into the condo in the first place. It was likely a marketing ploy to get other wealthy people to look at the property. I do think she will eventually sell "The Manor" when the market recovers. And she will move into either a gated community or a high security highrise.

just type in daniel sadek broke on yahoo or google and you will see a slew of articles

I used to admire the guy for making it to the top overnight

but after I found out about all of the poor families he put out in the street for the sake of owning a 20 sports cars a mansion and a penthouse, he is a turd

and the sad thing is that he is a boy scout compared to mozillo and others

I think Candy Spelling chose not to fork over $47,000,000 in CASH, which is gaining interest and available for emergencies. Smart move. I wouldn't want to lose my advantage of being a Ca$h Queen where everyone is selling to fill up their dwindling checking/savings accounts.

I do agree that her $500 million fortune has dwindled seriously in this failing economy. So why give up the one thing that everyone respects: CASH!

Viva! said...

I'm with you Carla in California, ca$h talks, bullshit walks.

Candy's keeping her cash on hand...if she does sell The Manor down the road, I see her moving to a place in Malibu.

Remember she still gets the lions share of the shows revenue for until she departs this planet

I would say she is worth 4 billion if you count that in over the next 40 years

so I think avg joe could be right, she is waiting for prices to come down, but 4.7 MM ????

come on joe

after I found out about all of the poor families he put out in the street for the sake of owning a 20 sports cars a mansion and a penthouse, he is my idol and i am a turd

and the sad but true thing is that i will never be as a millionth as rich as him, mozillo and others

All of this discussion is pointless as Mrs. Spelling's plans to move into The Century have NOT changed since she announced her purchase of the top two floors.
Sorry to put a kabosh on all the gossip!
