Since...

...we took an unexpected few days off to enjoy the Turkey Day with our family, let Your Mama start off the week slow with a bit of real estate scuttlebutt to ease ourselves back in the gossip groove.
Over the weekend, we heard from our old pal Linda Likestotalk who gave us a bit more lowdown on the N. Carmelina Avenue mansion in Brentwood, CA at which Jenufleck (or whatever it is that the gossip glossies call Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner) have been frequently spotted and photographed and were widely reported to have purchased (pictured above).

Well children, according to Miz Likestotalk, after being looked at several times by Hollywood hotshots like Judd Apatow and (too) many times by Afflegar (or whatever), the newly built Brentwood Park adjacent property has gone into escrow with the daughter of construction king Ron Tutor. Although

The children will recall that it was Mister Tutor who recently plunked down a breathtaking $32,200,000 for an unfinished hotel sized house in Beverly Park. It appears that not all super rich folks have been left with tight fists after the staggering stock and wealth evaporating market plunge.

Miz Likestotalk did not whisper the agreed upon sale price, the 12,000 (approx.) square foot, 7 bedroom and 8 bathroom house was last listed at $14,950,000.

The Tutor filial and family will be surrounded by other rich and famous folks like Ariana Huffington–She-ra of the Huffington Post, natch–and former chat hostess Ricki Lake who both call North Carmelina Avenue home. It is the very same swank Westside street where actor Toby Maguire and his newly preggers wifey Jennifer Meyers paid big money for a large vacant lot earlier this year and will presumably (if somewhat improbably) build their Barbie Dream House.

P.S. Your Mama and the Dr. Cooter hope you had a magnificent Thanksgiving holiday.

I was watching some Forbes Top 20 Celebrity Couples of 2008 this past weekend and it said the Jennifer and Ben already bought a new built home. I'm surprised it hasn't been reported on more yet.

Those shows are consistently incorrect and when they show a celebrity's house, it usually isn't even their house.

are you serious? write something more interesting please...

Forbes could have been repeating the story about new house on Mapleton that many sources continue to say they bought but apparently didn't. Whomever did buy it is already doing a major remodel so apparently they have money to burn.

Mama - hope you and the good Dr had a great Thanksgiving. Thanks for the posting.

The house is probably humongous and very expensive, but based on the picture, it looks like a retirement home. Which is probably right cos by the time the Afflegar actually buy something a retirement home would be appropriate.

The smoking porch on the second floor is too exposed for Ben. The paps could easily get that photo of Ben sucking down a Camel and revealing that he is back on the baccy.

What a dump!

Just one question - does anyone fart in public?

It sold for 4mil in 2004...They are now asking almost 4X that!!!Somebody forgot to tell them the bubble burst a long time ago. Most house prices have already returned to 2004 levels and are quickly headed to sub 2000 prices.
Absolute lunacy to be asking even 4 mil for this plain jane abode on a nice but ho hum street. This is a 1 million home at best.Sorry somebody wasted so much on the renovations but this is a tear down.

the EMPTY lot sold for $4mm in 2004. as for being a ho-hum street -- i don't know what you're smoking. it's probably one of the top 10 most desirable streets in los angeles. the number of super-rich, high profile people on the street is staggering. her post didn't even begin to name them all.

yeah it is ho hum...been there many times in the past...The street looks like a worn out horse trail through a cow pasture.Just as the neighboring streets do.No views, cheezy lots and crap landscaping. This is a serious case of the emperor has no clothes. There are a lot nicer areas around san vicente. And im sorry some moneywise actor paid 4mil for that land. That has got to be the bggest scam ever.Actually, figuring that frumpy house is worth 10mil is a bigger scam.Looks like it was designed by the geriatric society.

We would never design something with that many steps and that little class.
