Friday Flim Flam: Daphne Guinness

In other less high priced but no less entertaining New York City real estate news, haute-glam beer heiress and skunk-haired couture hound and international bon vivant Daphne Guinness has unloaded her wickedly decadent—and formerly leaky—New York City apartment on the 11th floor at 995 Fifth Avenue to an as-yet unnamed buyer for $11,300,000.  As the hard working kids at Curbed noted eariler, the sale price is significantly less than the $14,000,000 she originally wanted and less less but sill less than the $11,734,719 she paid for the place in April 2008.

Once in awhile I scroll through the old blog posts just to find that hilarious video featuring her and the apartment. Truly one of a kind.

Wait, what? Surely the 2 WiC's connected to the master
can't possibly contain a collection of fashion in keeping w/ the scale of this personality. Another bedroom must be employed to facilitate the excess, right?

That video has provided me hours of entertainment. The opening where she has no clue where she is and probably saw her first glimpse of sunlight in her lifetime, is priceless. She is brilliant and unique and harkins back to the 80s when creativity abounded. Where next for Daphne?

Bet the neighbors are glad to have Ms. Looney Tunes gone and not flooding the building with her overfilled bathtub!

I don't know why, but I love it -- not to my taste at all but entirely genuine -- I don't thin I'd be comfortable changing a thing.

And Ms Guinness is just so exactly off-kilter that she's become a treasure instead of a cartoon.

2:13. And I don't "thin" I would be comfortable without changing everything. The idea of walking on slick black floors is not my idea of comfort.

She put a lot into renovating that place too. Anyway, I read the New Yorker profile on her and she literally has no concept of money. She's always had it and knows she'll never be without it. Must be crazy.

Wouldn't be surprised if she's moving back to London. She left London following the suicides of 2 close friends (Alexander McQueen & Isabella Blow) ... being in London reminded her of them. Anyway, perhaps she's now come to terms with that & wants to be close to her kids who live in London. I believe she still owns a home in Mayfair after selling the family home in St Johns Wood for $20M+ ...
