Lena Headey Lists in L.A. at Big Loss

SELLER: Lena Headey
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
PRICE: $1,349,000
SIZE: 2,507 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Listen children, Your Mama has an unavoidable engagement today necessity dictates we be uncharacteristically brief in our discussion of a Los Angeles, CA residence owned by comely British actress Lena Headey who pushed it on to the open market this week with an asking price of $1,349,000.

Miz Headey isn't exactly a household name, at least in Your Mama and The Doctor Cooter's house. However, a quick peek at her resume on the Internet Movie Data Base tells us Miz Headey as toiled in Tinseltown for nearly a two decades and has appeared with regularity on both the tee-vee (Game of Thrones, Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles) and on the silver screen (300, The Brothers Grimm, Possession). She will soon appear in the sci-fi action flick Dredd with Kiwi actor Karl Urban who, as it turns, out, recently put his house in Auckland, New Zealand on the market.

Property records reveal Miz Headey acquired the mid-century modern post and beam (as her sole and separate property) in June 2007, shortly after she married a musician named Peter Paul Loughran. She paid $1,685,000 for the 2,507 square foot residence that listing information shows has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

A few quick flicks of the well-worn beads on Your Mama's bejeweled abacus reveals that even if Miz Headey's Real Estate pulls in an unlikely full price sale, the mother of one is still looking at at gut-punching $336,000 loss not counting carrying costs, any renovations and improvements or real estate fees. The lady must really wanna move.

Anyhoo, the low-slung, single-story house sits on a hillside street at the top of Laurel Canyon near Mulholland Drive. Curving concrete steps and drought tolerant landscaping softens a somewhat forbidding front façade defined by a front-facing two car garage with water-stained wood door.

A high-fenced and gated courtyard entry leads to the front door that opens into a small entry vestibule that explodes into an unexpectedly lengthy, voluminous room and sparely dressed "formal" living/dining room with blond narrow-plank wood floors, high-pitched wood-beamed ceiling, rectilinear architectural fireplace, and long row of floor-to-ceiling glass sliders.

The almost equal sized room immediately next door contains a sleek and shiny Euro-style kitchen with lustrous blue-grey cabinets. The kitchen opens over a long snack counter to a Terrazzo-floored family room with another long wall of floor-to-ceiling glass sliders and a another pitched ceiling partly pierced by a massive sky light equipped with what appear to be (and we hope are) electronically controlled sun shades.

The pitched ceiling and wood floors in the living/dining room continue into the master suite and both of the guest/ family bedrooms, all of which also have glass sliders for seamless transitions to the various patios and terraces that encircle the house.

A long concrete patio runs along the kitchen/family room side of the house and a partly pebble-stoned and concrete checkerboard patio on the living/dining room side gives way to a rather tatty flat pad at the front of the house meant to be covered in lawn.

Now, off we go into the wild blue yonder. Wish Your Mama luck.

Mama, you're engagement? Why the military secret? Are you and the Dr. Cooter about to rob a bank? Good luck!

Now, about Ms. Lena Headey's white tank and grey vest outfit in that last photo on the Dorothy Surrender's link...Joe Gorga wore it first! Nevertheless, the Rabbi admits that they're both smoking hot!

Ms. Headey's home is gorgeous and the actress understands decorative restraint. The Rabbi wishes her well.

Its not that big of a loss compared to other losses I have seen celeb's take in the past, but Im sure it still hurts a little bit. Im also sure it helps them during tax time.

Anybody who puts a something on the wall with LOVE written on it deserves as big a loss as can be imagined.

I always thought LOVE wall decorations were wonderful..........except when they do that tilty thing with the L. In this case, I think it actually says lover, which would be just swell.

Saw it Sunday.

A modestly-boned fairly generic 50s tract house that looks like it was "architecturally done over" by whomever owned it before the Headly purchase (based on price and wear of re-do). Nice interior transoms added, kitchen re-done. Baths were VERY low budget re-dos. Decoration (or lack of) un-does the house. Almost no furniture and what is there is ok at best. A staging would have done A LOT for this house. As would $20,000 worth of polish (sodding the front lawn, re-painting the kid-derived scuffing of paint). Garage was PACKED with poorly stored kids toys and out door items. It's on a sunny part of Laurel Canyon, not dark at all. Lot is decent sized at 10,000 feet, but a little skinny. Not far off average per square foot for the street. I predict about $1.2MM and a reasonably quick sale (spec'd well for the hood, it's the "family chic" people in Laurel want).
