UPDATE: Deborah Gibson

Last week Your Mama revealed that former teen singing sensation turned nood model and Broadway baby Deborah Gibson listed her Sunset Strip area house for sale with an asking price $995,000. There was nothing shocking about that in and of itself, people buy and sell houses all the time. However, listing information somewhat surprisingly stated the property was (and we quote the listing) "subject to a short sale," meaning Miss Gibson is offering to sell the house at a price less than what she owes on the mortgage.

Then along comes her pr peeps who subsequently told Perez Hilton (or somebody) that, "Much to the chagrin of media everywhere, Deborah is simply moving in with her boyfriend." Well, my oh my, isn't that nice? Your Mama genuinely hopes Miss Living In Sin Gibson is truly happy living up with her doctor/documentarian boy-beau. We do. Really, we do. However, that does not explain why public records we accessed through Property Shark clearly show a Notice of Default was filed on the modest 2 bedroom property for which she paid $1,275,000.

Miss Gibson's spinmeister went on to say, "As we all know, [this] is the right time to sell...and, this was it for her." Really? The right time to sell? Come on! Hunny, have you read the papers or watched the news programs? This is most definitely not the time to sell a house if you don't have to and, quite frankly, it's never, ever time to sell a house for less than you paid, you know?

It's entirely possible the Miss Gibson and her man-friend can well afford to absorb the financial hit from selling her house short. And we genuinely hope they can. We do. But listen to Your Mama here Miss Gibson because we are trying to help you. In some situations, and this would be one of them, no comment is so much better than having your pr person go around saying things that simply make no sense.

Did Molly Sims finally sell her house and if so what was the final price. There were some know it alls that posted comments that it was over-priced by about 1 million.

A short sale doesn't mean she is willing to take any hit on the property, just that the bank will. It hurts her credit just like a foreclosure but its a lil more acceptable.

What would you expect from a woman who couldn't even hold down her career?

well now we know who's been using the urinal!

I also hear it's a great time to invest in stocks. Or if you're really connected there's this guy in New York, Bernie Madoff...

can you give me his number? i'm looking for someone really connected.

it's the right time to sell, yeah before the bank takes it! poor thing!

She needs to fire her pr. What a dumb comment to make.

She can't afford her house, and she clearly can't afford a competent PR flack for heaven's sake. Good time to sell? Moving in with her boyfriend, sure...because she can't afford her house!

Well what can her PR say? "My client is broke"? "My client is down to her last penny or whatever"? Give the guy a break. He has to gild the stinkweed somehow.

A good PR person would mention that times are tough........even for the talented and famous. A plea for empathy would be more effective than ridiculous explanations.

A good PR person would have said "no comment" on her personal life.

lmao, this is hilarious. The only plausable reason for listing and publishing the listing for a house in the condition of Ms. Gibson's is 'desperately in a hurry'. PR isn't gonna work this time. Better to spend her money on a cleaning and staging crew, or she'll lose her shirt on this one.

Mama. This is a much improved banner background color....darker richer, and definitely more you.

11:53, agreed. It looks like it always should have been there.

Ditto 11:39.

A good PR person would have said, "No comment."

A good PR person would have said mind yer own beezwax!

I hope the boyfriend is a better housekeeper!

Is she one of the many people living "rent free" because they just stopped paying their mortgage?

I see wage garnishment in the future.

2:26 - Sorry to hear that your minimum wages are going to be garnished. Perhaps if you attended class instead of skipping school you would be able to comprehend our Mama's post and know that the topic has nothing to do with Ms. Gibson living "rent free".

Deborah has been pouring a lot of effort into starting up a youth camp for talented kids to nurture their gifts. I admire her for her talent, stick-to-it work ethic, and courage. If she is having financial problems, that doesn't at all change my opinion of her. I think she's a very classy young woman.

I think all of this is a little ridiculous. So she's selling her house, big deal! It's a bad time financially for everyone! ANd who knows, she is probably actually just moving in with her boyfriend. Give her a break, jeeze!
