Your Mama Hears...

...From several tipsters including Mister Cryptic, Tommy Tellall and our Fairy Godmother in Beverly Hills, that a few months ago, when Sexy and The Spice Gurl were first house hunting in Beverly Hills, they actually went to CONTRACT to purchase Madonna's Beverly Hills house which is located on a very private lot, flag lot on Sunset Boulevard.

But even before the ink was dry on the contracts, Her Madgesty backed out. Gasps, shock, the horror. A bitch fight of epic proportions ensued, lawsuits were threatened, friendships were severed, and the Beckham's real estate agent, who was referred to them by Her Madgesty herself, was (unfairly) canned by the immigrants for not being able hold the deal together.

Next thing you know, Sexy and The Spice Gurl are buying a $22,000,000 house from none other than Joe Babajian, one of the swanky Westside real estate agents that was indicted on fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering charges last week.

Now, of course, the couple is widely reported to be on another house hunt, this time they're hunting for a very pricey beach shack Malee-boo. Ack! Here we go again...

It's not so easy for them to just buy any mansion ... security is such a major issue that there are probably only a handful of properties in west l.a that fit their brief ... if you look at the property they bought, unlike most houses it doesn't have any boundaries with the surrounding roads / streets ... it's completely surrounded by properties on all sides ... they'll have trouble in malibu b/c there is nothing on the market at the moment - probably just a rumour, all the press is reporting that she isn't enjoying l.a life & missing europe ... i don't blame her!

Sounds like Madge is getting a tad full of herself, not to mention fickle, in her middle years. It seems she had just about everything to do with herding the Beckhams towards her place and roping them in for the deal too, making her decision to ruin a friendship over the sale strange indeed. I've really enjoyed the homes I've lived in over the years, but none so much that I'd backstab friends for the sake of one. Apparently the Beckham's had their heart set on the place which to my mind makes their decision to terminate the real estate agent understandable. I think it would be difficult for me to do business with someone Madge recommended after that too.

"Mrs B has already hired an estate agent to look for properties with a price tag up to £40m."

Anon @ 6:23A.

Michael Eisner's $75M beach shack is still on the market. (www.w-e-agency.com.

Do you think 7 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms would be enough for the Posh?

Do we know why Madonna changed her mind and backed out??? I'm very curious as to why she'd reneg on the deal, risk legal woes, risk a friendship and reputation....

I did a little snooping around and found Madonna's house, and I think it worked out better for the Beckham's in the long run. The information I located says Madge's house only has 3 bedrooms, making me wonder why the Beckham's wanted it at all, except that it is on a flag lot which appears to have been a must have for them. Madge's pool and tennis court are also in her front yard. Not what I'd want.

Can someone share with me what a "flag lot" is?

Many thanks.

A flag lot is one that's surrounded on all sides by other properties, with a narrow strip of land used as the driveway running from it between 2 of those other properties to the street. Bleh.. that reads weird to me but best I can do. Imagine a flag on a flag pole. The flag is the lot, the pole is the driveway. Hope that helps.

That property is Jerry Weintraubs!

The Eisners is way past Broad Beach practically in Ventura!

Anon @ 9:16.

Thanks for the correction. I had no clue that there could be multiple $75M properties.

Me bad!

Looks like Madge done some work. Can't assume zillow is uptodate. Maybe she backed out b/c she didn't want to end up on mama's blog!

Thanks Anon @ 11:10 AM.

I have a little FYI to share for anyone interested. I discovered a comprehensive satellite map site with a variety of provider choices that isn't as PC memory intensive as live.earth. It's called flashearth and can be found Here. Click on the word FLASHEARTH when the page opens, and you'll find the map choices in the upper left corner.

phoenix..

thank you for the direct links, you are so computer savvy!!

(and my bad about the house on oriole.. i only thought so, bc it ALSO has 3 bedrooms.)

:)

No problem smiley, my pleasure :) And I'm only savvy as far what I know. When it comes to learning new things, not so much. It took me about 10 tries to figure out that darn live.earth site, lol.

omg - i still can't figure out live earth - how do u get sat images?

Ok, this is what I know how to do. Type the full address you want to find in the 2nd box down from the top, then click on the upended rectangular box next to it. Give it time to load. You'll have to pick up the scroller at the bottom to scroll right where the map will be. In the upper left hand corner of the map, you'll see a bar you can move up or down to either zoom in or zoom out. Note: the map it creates for you is HUGE which is a negative for me. I prefer something more managable. Look a few comments up this thread for my comment about the Flashearth site. That's what I like to use. I usually select the 2nd map provider from the top - Microsoft VE (aerial). Addresses go in the box in the lower right corner. The zoomer is in the top right corner. Hope this helps & good luck to you :)

Oh, and P.S. - if you prefer using the live.earth site, regarding the satellite images you asked about, in the upper left hand corner of the map where the zoom feature I mentioned is located, look directly underneath that and you'll see three words - Road, Aerial, and Hybrid. Road will be preselected. Click on Aerial for a strictly satellite image, click on Hybrid for a combined road map and satellite image.
