YOUR MAMAS NOTES: According to the gossip gurls at Newsday, the pretty but infamous Ted and Generosa Ammon house smack in the middle of one of the swankier sections of East Hampton, NY has already been leased for the 2008 summer season. The well to do Memorial Day to Labor Day tenants are reported to have coughed up $275,000 for the Middle Lane seasonal rental/crime scene.

Anyone who lives within two hundred miles of East Hampton, reads glossy gossip magazines like Vanity Fair, or watches tawdry made for T.V. movies already knows that the 7,000 square foot English Tudor style house is where millionaire financier Ted Ammon was brutally bludgeoned to death in October of 2001.

However, that's not even the scandalous part of the story. Oh no, children. Back in October 2001 when Mister Ammon turned up dead, the Mister and Missus Ammon were engaged in a ballistic and bitter dee-vorce battle. Shockingly, just three months after the murder and before the Mister was even cold in the ground, the widowed wifey married her electrician boyfriend Daniel Pelosi. Naturally, both Generosa and Daniel were "persons of interest" in the murder investigation. However, it was only after Generosa keeled over from breast cancer in 2003 that Mister Pelosi was convicted of the crime. Now, instead of being kept in the lap of luxury by his vastly wealthy wife, Mister Pelosi is living up in some penitentiary as the "wife" of some 250 pound gorilla who calls him Sally or some other ladee name. Karma is a bitch children. Remember that next time you're feeling like slicing and dicing your rich spouse.

Property records reveal that back when Mister and Missus Ammon were happily wedded, they purchased the 7 bedroom and 6.5 bathroom house in August of 1992 for $1,075,000. The couple adopted a couple of Russian twins who we presume noisily scampered around the 2.2 acre estate and happily frolicked in the heated pool that sits on the other side of a man-made lagoon from the house. That is until mommy got greedy and figured the best way to work out the financial details of the dee-vorce was simply to have her blue collar beau-hunk ice the huzband while his will still granted her his entire fortune.

After a lengthy and acrimonious custody battle, the Ammon children were eventually awarded to Mister Ammon's sister and reportedly live in Alabama. But surprisingly, they continue to own the East Hampton estate which, according the Newsday gurls, still contains "much of the art and collectibles that Generosa Ammon held near and dear." Which, quite frankly, seems a mite bit creepy to Your Mama.

All due respect and compassion for the plight of the Ammon twins, but Your Mama would never spend $275,000 to lease a Hamptons house that is filled with a murderous woman's belongings. Nor could we even consider spending more than a quarter million clams to look at those blinding copper panels and that shameful beige recliner in the solarium all damn summer.

Your Mama recommends that whoever it is that has plunked down $275,000 for the 2008 summer season bring a heap of sage to burn and a few pounds of garlic to ward of the bad juju that might still be lingering in the house. Otherwise enjoy that lovely little pool house and remember to pretend to not see Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld on the beach next summer because the last thing those two want is some yay-hoo renter shouting at them as they try to quietly sun themselves on the beach behind their $50,000,000 estate.

This one's a dream for me Mama,a real challenge.I'm thinking of going green. Not sure what that is but I'll make it work for me!

Staging lady, if you can pull this one out of you ass, I bow to you!

Those of us who live in the area remember all the comings and goings during this sordid affair - kept the children entertained at night. And let me tell you, Pelosi was NO hunk - looked like a longshoreman after a 3-day leave.

Be sure to leave the chalk outline on the floor - it's a real charmer!

Oh, and by the way, children, don't let the photos deceive you; what looks like a cozy cottage is actually a massive Tudor-like pile, according to the photos run in Newsday at the time of the murder.

Good morning Mama! Oh, what a shame a murder had to ruin this intriguing compound. At first glance the aerial photo looked like an archeological dig site. I'm deep into reading Steven Mithen's After the Ice: A Global Human History 20000B.C. to 5000B.C. So good! Anyway, I love the ashen, abandoned camp hearth, color palette. I love the paneled walls the copper hangs on. And is that a carved wood ceiling? Or maybe moulded plaster. The faded and worn rug on the stone floor is making me drool. Can't you hear the wind from the ocean crying across those barren lawns? Salt spray hitting the windows? "Light a fire, Carruthers, and bring me my brandy and my knitting." (And it goes without saying that the recliner will be disappeared.)

Staging Lady with the Toyota:

You're such a trooper, missing the Gala Pot Luck last night to collect the 57 toss pillows from Goodman staging, which we understand were hauled out to the curb by the sherriff's office. Sorry you spent the night in jail.

We haven't been to bed yet and are waiting for you outside. We're still going strong. So ...

Get out here, gurl, and claim your Pink Toyota. CONGRATULATIONS.

good story, especially the 3 month waiting period to marry the partner in crime.

Oh, staging lady with the toyota, I'm just so happy for you. You deserve positive recognition at last. I'm sorry I screened your call last night, but honey you still owe me bail money from the last time. No hard feelings? Kisses. And honey I don't think you'll be needed in the Hamptons. What?? Mama wouldn't give you the sweet potato recipe? That old biddy!

Your Mama has loved Ms. Manilow all the way back to when we were a wee lad listening to 8-track tapes at our Aunt Jennie's house in Ventura, CA. A WEE LAD Mama, what does this mean???

Yeah, but Frank Lloyd Wright claimed he was born in 1869 to shave a couple of years off his age prior to receiving the commission for Fallingwater . . .

Not nearly as nice as I imagined it would be. I never paid attention to any of the pictures in 'Vanity Fair'...perhaps I should have because this house looks so cold and damp...and murdery?

Glad to hear Ted's sister FINALLY got the children!
I wonder if the house is HAUNTED?
Hey,if i had the bucks I'd rent the place myself!!!

Well I am glad that all of you find this entertaining, but if your not already well aware, this happened to a real family. Just because you all did not achieve even an inch of the success that Ted and Generosa Ammon did, or earn the money they had or the amazing life they lived, doesn't mean that after it crumbled you have the right to talk trash about them. I knew the family, and you couldn't have met a more loving family whose main priority was to make the best life they could for their twins. And things do fall apart, they do so in every family, in some form. So how dare you sit at your computer and read this incredibly rude commentary on a house that Generosa Ammon put her heart and soul into, and have the audacity to comment in such a vile manner, because now that they are gone it is one of the only things the kids have left to hold onto that belonged to their parents. The circumstances were terrible as was the situation and the last thing the kids need now after that extremely traumatizing period in their life, is for a bunch of low lifers like yourselves to be sitting there judging something that is none of your business in the first place.

Dear Anonymous,
you said that you knew the family, i do have respect and i admire all that Ted Ammon did and achived, too bad he was book smart only and ended up with a bipolar , mental ill wife as Generosa that by the way had a horrible taste she was paranoid seeing herself as an artist, lol, when her only achivment was that she had married Ted. You said that Generosa put her heart and soul into this house...LOL..what heart and soul???? r u kidding ? she killed her husband for GOD's sake ...r u insane too?? She was a bordeline gold digger, full of herself , snob, rude , ignorant little b...
I feel sorry for the twins that they had to put up with her outburst of fury and i fell truly sorry for Ted that he ended as he did because her greed. But her taste is questionable and even Ted millions could not buy her faime as he expected...lol

Well, for Anonymous who said they "knew the family", well...it doesn't sound like you knew them well. I never had the pleasure, but I am a friend of the architect who redesigned 59 Middle Lane for Generosa and he said that Ted was nice, patient, but allowed Generosa to run things, and she was a raving b****. The family was anything but loving, always tension between Ted and Generosa, and Generosa felt the twins needed to learn life lessons so quite often she was aloof. I am guessing that Anonymous only knew the family in a social setting, and anyone can fake it there (although I heard Generosa had trouble even doing that!).

>>a house that Generosa Ammon put her heart and soul into

She put years into building that house. Despite all that work, Ted didn't want her to have the house.Upon the divorce, the house would be Teds alone - or not so alone. Ted planned to share the house with his mistress of a decade and his "secret" illegitimate son. Who wouldn't be devastated if their husband carried on an affair behind their back for 10 years with a slutty family friend and then had a "secret" child with that slut?

YoMama,
I recently saw the made for TV movie of this pathetic family as well as read the book by Kieran Crowley. It's amazing how this family fell apart and the evil that lurked within that house after the death of Ted Ammon. Anymore information on this property, if it is available for a seasonal rental or even if it is for sale? I'd be interested in purchasing the home.

Anonymous said...

You couldn't afford it bud.

Anonymous said...

To Anonymous inquiring about the purchase of this property...well, I have to agree with the post just after yours, you probably could not afford it. It leases for over a quarter mil, would sell for over $10 mil...and before you say you could afford that, if you could you would be connected enough to know who in the small community of East Hampton to contact for your inquiry.

The children are the same age as mine. God bless them and help them endure the truth and be thankful for the family that loves them.

What never ceases to amaze me is that in this day and age, people still think that money equals an amazing life. It only equals material possessions. The Ammons as well as the Pelosis were miserable and ignorant and self centered.

Anonymous said...

Wait, you mean another nice guy married a conniving uneducated loser woman? Such a shame that some men don't learn to find an equal instead of a woman looking for $$. They will always find something on the side since all they want you for is your $$ to begin with.

He thought he could control the woman who had nothing going for her, but simply forgot that she must survive by taking advantage of others since she has nothing to offer herself.

Are the red tulips, or rather the "burgundy" tulips still growing on the property ?? Just curious......

Anonymous said...

I believe the tulips were actually yellow, according to Kieran Crowley's book "Almost Paradise."
