UPDATE: Rosie O'Donnell

Buckle your safety belts butter beans, the listing images for Rosie O'Donnell's massive Miami Beach (FL) mansion have popped up online and, hunties, Your Mama don't know what's more of a hot mess, a Xanax- and booze-infused Fiona Trambeau being rolled off the airplane in a wheelchair and nappy poncho at 10:45 this morning or that gawd-awful red, white and blue decorating disaster. Heaven knows Your Mama loves us some snow white walls and a white slip-covered sofa in a beach house but even we have our limits.

As discussed here and everywhere earlier, Miz O'Donnell heaved her 11 bedroom and 12.5 pooper compound on Miami's celeb-studded Star Island on the open market today with an asking price of $19,500,000.

There's a lot of hot mess up in here...the shark over the staircase (whaaaat?) and the lighting is out of control. Did I mention the lighting? It looks like warehouse illumination. But, in Rosie's defense, the grand ol' flag decor is all staged...badly.

Revro:
ou girl, Rosie in denial. i just binged the star island and it looks like her estate has the great view to McArthur Causeway, and for that she wants 19 mil?

well as mamma said, there are other 5 homes on star island for sale and most of them look much more appealing than this.

also there are 2 empty lots on star island, one that has nice view to miami beach skyline/west avenue and a second lot is bigger and has view of Biscayne bay

anyway the only mansion that i would be interested in (if i win a lottery), is the meanwhile dead elephant (got sold) of anna kournikova she wanted to sell for years. it was listed for 9.4mil in 2009 and finaly sold for 7,425m in 2012

speaking about miami, one other mansion got my eye, tough entrance looks like a tract home. heres the link, its bali style for 8,495m (certainly not worth it :))

something tells me that house was painted all kinds of crazy and they white washed it to stage it. Not a good stager, mind you, but still

For me, I just wonder how someone as hideous as Rosie could make the kind of $$ it takes to own something like this. I mean, WHO pays her? They are the really hot messes.

EWWWWW!!!! And What's up with the Ikea furnishings? WTF.

This butch woman has awful taste.

Anonymous said...

OMG, I have NO idea what I was expecting the interior to look like, but I can promise you, this wasn't it!!!! It's truly beyond horrible. All I can think of is that they've removed all of their personal items and just staged it VERY VERY cheaply AND ugly--doesn't make sense to do that on a $19-million listing, but what other explanation could there be. Oh yeah, she has no design taste?!

Candy Spelling said...

Just horrid.

And what is going on with the lighting in these rooms?!?! Is this a home or some sort of ultra-tacky VIP club/lounge?

9:53 I'm with you. How she could have ever made the money to afford this house to begin with is beyond me. She is unloading this house she and her children love not because she wants to, but because she has, too. Her gigs of making serious money are over, and she knows it. Also, just thinking out loud... Maybe the new wife to be wants some serious cash up front and a new home somewhere else before the marriage takes place.

Is she buying another place in Miami? She has said many times that her favorite place is Miami. I also think she has mentioned suffering from SAD (seasonal affective disorder), and leaving bleak and chilly Nyack, and hopping down to Miami was a great thing for that.

Anyone know if she is house hunting for something else?

Someone HAS to know if this is her stuff or if its staged?? It looks like Big Lots meets The Shining. Anyone??

Rosie has given over $100 million to charity for those that think she has no money, so clearly she has a ton of money. She has a new girlfriend and wake up, people sell homes all the time. But I guess it is nice for the people that don't like her to dream and wish she is out of money so if it makes you feel better than keep thinking that.

Candy Spelling said...

Where the hell did she get $100 million from?! And If that really is true, then she definitely needs to sell this place. There is no way her career has been stellar enough to sustain that much charity and still maintain such a lavish lifestyle.

Very poor money management. I'd feel bad for her if she wasn't such a hideous person. Inside and out.

Right on Candy. Tell it to someone else Rosie ever had $100M to give to anyone. She definitely didn't, and if she said she did, she is lying. She's only selling this house she and her children love and probably others, too, because she simply can't afford them. Her days of big money TV programs are over, and she's left with doing night/comedy club gigs. It's truly nothing short of a miracle she ever owned anything more than a double-wide trailer.

Rosie had one of the biggest talk shows of all time before she quit not including all the other stuff she has done. If Oprah is worth over $2 billion, I think Rosie probably made at least a few hundred or so million.

You all are some truly delusional people. If she can give away $100 million dollars, I think that she probably paid off her house that only cost her $6.75 million.

You never know what other ventures a celeb has, which leads them to make a steady income. Just because none of you know were her money is coming from doesn't mean she is in need a money. Celebs sell their large homes all the time. Michael Jordan(or Junaita) is unloading his huge estate in Illinois. It doesn't mean Juanita or MJ are running out of money. There is no point to holding on to a property you are not using.
Just like the Beckhams have decided to sell their European home, because they are rarely there, which is a waste of money.

Rosie is NOT lying about the $100 million for charity. I am friends with one of her ex financial people (who went on to work for Martha Stewart) and she has donated and raised (through her books sales, CDs, etc.) that amount. She did not actually donate $100 million cash. But she is very generous, she and Cher each gave $500K to finish up a VA hopsital.

That decor is hers.....some things were removed for the pictures. She and her kids actually use everything, so it is a very casual place.

Why is everyone hating on Rosie? She's worked tiredlessly for amfAR and as stated previosuly given millions to charity. The interiors here are basically a clean slate and the house itself is gorgeous. But go on being catty from your studio apartment in West Hollywood...

9:37... Remember that old Justin T song .."what goes around" Good deeds alone alone are not enough.

Rosie is fine financially, perhaps she realizes that she doesn't need to maintain such a large spread. She is a very rich woman and just because you may not see her actively working (on TV) that doesn't mean her income has dropped, it could actually be higher than you'd think. I live here in Miami and I've seen her out, she drives a Bentley, that should tell you something...

I don't hate Rosie but I shore h8 those lights. I know it's environmentally correct but ill take a good ole fashion incandescent bulb on a dimmer over those compact fluorescent fuckers any day. Sorry Ozone layer.

Amber said...

The stair way looks like it is out of a movie. Very gorgeous piece of property.

Candy Spelling said...

She drives a Bentley, so what? Plenty of people can afford to lease a Bentley. They're everywhere (especially here in LA). The problem is she has like fifteen kids in expensive schools, she's given away way too much money, and her potential for future earnings is dim. She's also probably downsizing because the property taxes are insane. Nothing wrong with that.

And Lawd knows the woman probably spends millions every month just on food for herself. That all adds up (in more ways than one).

I think back in the day when Madonna and Rosie were BFF's, this was Madonna's house. Rosie loved it so much that when Madonna put it on the market, Rosie bought it.

that is one ugly house. and the cost to run it makes my head ache.
rosie isn't my cup of tea, though (at times) entertaining.
but this house...and those lights....
all should be illegal .

Candy darling! you beat me to the Bentley reply! If she doesnt have a show how does she make $$$??? I am not aware of any other business she is involved in? And she is surely damaged goods (not that she wasnt before) now that she failed Queen Oprah.

Anonymous said...

Between the $15 million payout from Oprah and whatever she makes on this house, Rosie could retire even if she had no other assets- which she does.
We should all have so little money!

Anonymous said...

Can you just imagine what Rosie spends a month on herself, her children, her new wife to be, cars, houses, trips, food, etc? It's no telling. The fact is she might have money, but she doesn't have money coming in to replace the big money she is spending and won't ever again. Thus, she is reducing her expenses by downsizing and selling a home she and her children absolutely love because she has no choice. Nothing wrong with this. It's the smart thing to do. It's nothing short of a miracle that we are even discussing this woman much less her money and homes.

I have always enjoyed Rosie. She didn't set herself up for success with The Rosie Show...she needs to tape her show in NYC.

I wish her well.

Good Lord, it should have just been left empty and unstaged, even that would have been better.

The photographer did a horrible job with a crappy HDR software editing program which makes the lighting and colors look so awful. For 19mil, they should have hired a pro who knows about lighting and doesnt try to cheat with software. I photograph high end listings daily, Whoever did this did a really bad job.

"But go on being catty from your studio apartment in West Hollywood..."

Bingo!

I don't understand the hatred and anger from Candy. Someone is clearly jealous.

It was revealed on an interview with Diane Sawyer, that yes, Rosie O'Donnell has given over $100,000,000 to charity. She has numerous foundations/charities in her name. In 1997 alone, she had given away $22.7 million dollars to children and schools.

To me that's a pretty productive life- way more productive that spending days bashing a celebrity- out of pure jealousy.
