UPDATE: Jennifer Aniston

Brace yourselves, butter beans...

It was only about 10 (or so) months ago that rom-com queen Jennifer Aniston plunked down $7,019,084 for a pair of puny but very pricey cooperative apartments atop a very desirable full-service pre-war building in New York City's beguiling and almost entirely gentrified West Village. The plan, so went the scuttlebutt, was for the syndicated sit-com superstar to spend another sizable wad of dough to attractively combine the good-sized but hardly huge high-floor one bedroom unit with the approximately equally-sized, terrace-wrapped one bedroom penthouse directly above.

Alas, the actress and her somewhat new, live-in screenwriter/actor man-beau Justin Theroux don't care to live in The Big Apple anymore. That explains her/their recent $20,970,000 purchase of a sprawling, approximately 8,500 square foot mid-century modern mansion on three-plus acres in a particularly posh pocket of Los Angeles' swankety-swank Bel Air community.

The New York Post reported today that late last week Miz Aniston told an Australian radio program she and Mister Theroux found the pervasive paps "a little rough" to deal with in New York and have opted to high tail it back to Los Angeles where she feels like they have a great degree of privacy.

The question on every real estate gossip's lips now is whether Miz Aniston will choose to keep (and continue with plans to combine) her downtown New York penthouse pad or if she'll try to unload them for a higher price than she paid?

Don't snark and snarl, children. Everyone thought behawtch was real estate crazy when she listed her Beverly Hills mansion with a $42,000,000 price tag until she sold after just three brief months on the (open) market for $35 million to a corporate entity with direct links to an Orange County-based mutual fund billionaire.

Didn't she also at least make an offer on an apartment at 50 Gramercy Park North...?

At some event in Nov '11, someone asked her about it and she said she looked at it but never made an offer. I recall it went under contract to someone else.

She is so sad. Jumping from home to home, questionably straight man to questionably straight man, no kids.
She may as well go date George Clooney.

7:06 Sad? Really, says who? You? Like you would really know. She sure doesn't look sad to me, and nor does she act sad either. As far as no kids are concerned. You don't miss what you never had. She has said numerous times if it happens good. If it doesn't it's good, too. I believe her. If she really wanted a child, she could/would have a child. Many do without husbands or boyfriends quite often these days.

I don't blame her for preferring to live in California. The weather and some space is enough to like it better. Jumping from home to home? I don't see if that way at all. Besides, whose business is it besides hers? She can certainly afford to live wherever she wants, and that's seems to be exactly what she is doing. She tried living in NYC and decided she likes CA better. No big deal. Good for her. Go where your heart leads you if you have the money to do it. She does.

Ah, Jennifer Aniston. I think she is as hot as a green chile pepper. If we ever got together the whipped cream bill would equal the national debt of many smaller countries (possibly combined). 7:06 mentions that Jen likes "questionably straight men" and, after my thoughts on Anderson Copper, some here feel I fit that description. I also love mid-century architecture. Jen should call. Though not collect because I'm cheap.

Seriously, what I did think about while reading this was how our society has changed. The former Danny Thomas house is for sale in Beverly Hills at 630 Elm (yikes, big stars lived in the flats). Danny was BIG in his day and his house was on a damned corner (Elm and Elevado) with no 10 foot security wall, mote, or guard shack. He probably stood on the lawn in his housecoat as little Marlo road her little tricycle on the sidewalk. Now stars flee the paps and live in fear of delusional fans and stalkers. Strange world.

Link to Danny's place if you want to see how big stars used to live:

7:48, Jen is that you? You seem awfully defensive. Is that biological clock been replaced with the Big Ben version now?

DING DONG! DING DONG!!!!

9:17pm Nope, No Jen I don't believe. Just the facts. This kid thing is crazy. Many people don't have children, and many people don't want children. If they did really bad enough, you can make or get a kid pretty easy especially if you have the money which Jen Aniston certainly does. You don't need a husband or a boyfriend either.

You can look at Jen Aniston and hear her talk about her life, and know she is doing quite well personally and professionally. Also, everyone who knows her says she is a really nice, nice person. You don't hear trash about her like you do many of the other Hollywood types either. Bottomline, what she does with her life and her homes and her friends boys and girls alike is no one's business but hers.

Does anyone know who bough the Wallis Annenberg Wallace Neff-house she and Brad lived in and how much they sold it for?

If she wants privacy why can't she move to someplace out of LA or NYC. Los Angeles is a third world ugly shithole. Any normal person looking for privacy would move to I don't know...suburban northern california or connecticut or something. No wonder Brad got rid of her, she's crazy.

The folks of NY are probably breathing a sigh of relief. NYC has the billionaires and couldn't care less about B list rom com loser like Aniston. I bet she looks at how Brad has moved on and has a family yet she can't seem to settle down -- whether it be with a man or with a home. She is probably still distraught over the breakup. She really needs to see a therapist. I feel so sorry for her. Wonder what she'll do when Theroux breaks up with her. She'll blame it on the paps and move to another house again. Maybe to Guam next time. Hopefully.

12:29, sweetie you sound bitter! Wonder why everyone keeps wanting to move to LA if it's such a shithole? Let me guess, you live in Butthole, Tennessee, right? Ain't no need to be ashamed of your heritage, hunny! xoxoxo

"Jed! Move away from there!"

Brilliant. Happens all of the time.

People who make their lives public for the money that this brings them can claim, or have their apologists claim, that their lives are nobody's business but their own. If this is what they want, then they should not be in the "look at me and read magazine articles about me and my life" business. Wanting to eat their cake and have it too. I also agree that her real estate fickle is doubtless closely related to her sexual fickle, although she may be the last to realize this. Who knows if she is happy? My guess is that she is not.

Sweetie, I actually live in Aspen. Again, who are these alleged people who keep wanting to move to LA? The only people who move to LA are Mexicans. Or people who have to work there (like actresses and porn stars) It's a dump.

Danny Thomas later built the big, white modern house with a slightly Middle Eastern style at the end of Hillcrest. The estate is up in Trousdale Estates. Looking up the hill from the Beverly Hills flats, you can't miss its white arches.

Why all the hate for little Jenny Aniston? She seems a lovely person to me. Gorgeous, personable, funny, warm & rich. What's to hate? There are a lot of jealous creeps in the world.

I don't blame her for preferring CA over NY but I'm a bit sad she spent so much time and effort on her last place in LA, only to flip it shortly after. I guess she has no emotional attachment to the homes she works on.

Anyway, I wish her nothing but the best. Being married and having kids is highly overrated IMO, so props to her for living life slightly against the American grain.

@Doug: I wonder if Danny Thomas' place includes his infamous glass coffee table.

who cares. unless she's selling let's just stick with looking at homes and not gossip.

Peter Weil bought Brad and Jen's former home on Ridgedale.

isn't her 15 minutes up yet?
she obviously has Never gotten over losing brad and will always be chasing his charmed life with angie.

to all- la is really a shithole unless you have millions and work in film/tv.

btw... she'll probably flip this house in a yr after losing current bf and sell it for???

my guess 40-50 million- bitch is real estate savvy though.

I see Jen's publicists have been successful in getting the word out that she is such a nice, sweet, unassuming person. Yeah, I'm sure she is as long as your name is Courtney Cox or Chelsea Handler. Ask non-famous people who've had to work with her though, and you get quite a different story. Hell, ask Sidney Poitier who had the misfortune to be paired with her on a charitable endeavor and was forced to deal with her diva-like antics because in her mind, SHE was the bigger star.

Poor Jen, her movies may be flops, but after she gets AD press on her real estate, the big bucks roll in!
I wish her all the best! Her designer does nice work.

Did she give NYC a chance? I do recall hearing much about her when she was here.

She was never planning on living in NY full-time, and nothing's changed. Theroux still has a place there, and they're actually in NY right now. From her own interviews in February and October 2011 she said they would be living between both coasts, were planning on being based mainly out of LA and were looking for a new place there (their recently purchase Bel Air pad). The paps stalked them terribly in NY (waiting 24/7 outside her apartments - which she bought before getting together with Theroux), so reportedly she has sold them already quietly to someone in the building (the listing didn't even go on the market). They were already looking at other properties last fall, so will probably buy a place together there if they can find one that will offer more privacy, a garage and/or a back exit.
