Tuesday Afternoon Tidbits

Three of today's celebrity real estate tidbits come courtesy of the ever-industrious property gossip kids at Curbed and the fourth comes from veteran real estate gossip (and reporter) Bob Goldsborough in the Chicago Tribune.

1.
After passing muster with the strict co-op board, preggers Hollywood royal Drew Barrymore and well-bred her art-consultant hubby Will Kopelman set to close on a family-sized duplex on New York City's posh Park Avenue. The four bedroom and 4.5 bathroom apartment was last listed for $8.3 million.

2.
Legendary music executive L.A. Reid sold his full-floor apartment, also on Park Avenue in New York City, to legendary theater producer/director Hal Prince for $16.5 million.

3.
Frequently published nice-gay decorator Waldo Fernandez listed his own well-dressed, Oberoi Hotel-esque (if architecturally whackadoodle) hideaway in the Hamptons with an asking price of $9.5 million. It's worth a look-see if only because there's a sky bridge and a "lotus-filled pond that stirs up images of Kyoto, Viet Nam or Thailand."

4.
Media mogul Oprah Winfrey continues her apparently permanent push to a full-time life on the west coast continues with the not entirely surprising listing of her multi-unit, mansion-sized duplex condo at Chicago's Water Tower with an asking price of $7,750,000. The four-unit spread has 9,625 customized square feet with multiple living areas, two kitchens, three en suite guest bedrooms, a total of five full and two half bathrooms, and a dedicated floor for the Madame's Master Suite. The monthly fees ring up to $9,004 and cover all the amenities of the Ritz Carlton Hotel and Carlton Club.

Nancy needs to learn English.
The board for Ms. Barrymore's new building isn't one of the toughest. Also, her husband's parents- especially her husband's mom- are very well- liked in NYC... They would know how to get the newlyweds into any building.

Yay, Drew and Will were blessed by the all-mighty co-op board. As mentioned in October, all good things here. Betting they'll open up the kitchen. Tons of great wall space for art! Love it.

RE: Waldo. Peeked his portfolio. His pics are essentially tightly-cropped atmosphere shots featuring self-attributed elements from his own decor catalog$. Now wowed.

Hmmm...

Barrymore: Not surprised at the desire to raise kids in NYC;

Reid: Quintessential Park Ave.; LGB's brother once worked as a gofer for Mr.Prince -- he did not enjoy it;

Where's Waldo: More referential than imitative; unfortunately, with most Asian architecture this does not always work out well;

O: No.
