UPDATE: Ben Stiller

SELLER: Ben Stiller
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
PRICE: $11,495,000
SIZE: 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Way back in May of 2009 Your Mama floated the celebrity real estate rumor that comedy king Ben Stiller and his wife Christine were fixin' to float their compound in the Outpost Estates neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA on the market with an asking price of $12,500,000.

In September of the same year the property officially hit the open market with a price tag...drum roll please...of $12,500,000. Two months later the three parcel compound was withdrawn and removed from the (open) market.

In the fall of 2008, prior to all this real estate mishegas in Los Angeles, Mister and Missus Stiller spent ten million bucks to buy duplex digs in the same Upper West Side building as Mister Stiller's comedy legend parents Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara.

The couple's relocation to New York City must be official and complete because this week their lavish but comfortable-looking Hollywood Hills compound has been re-listed on the open market with a reduced asking price of $11,495,000.

Listing information for the Stiller compound–which includes a total of 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms between the main house, guest house and apartment above the garage–and a custom website built for the property reveal that much (if not all) of Mister and Missus Stiller's personal items have been removed and replaced with a lot of white slip covered furniture and other comestibles easily recognized as having been put in place by Staging Lady in a Pink Toyota.

Other notable property owners in the Outpost Estates 'hood include (but are not limited to) Charlize Theron, William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman, Michael C. Hall, Hugh Laurie, Orlando Bloom and the sassy-pants provocateur Gore Vidal who put his house up for sale in early 2011 with an asking price of $3,495,000.

To. Die. For.

Do you think this didn't sell before because it's so much more expensive than everything else in that hood? Buyers with that much to spend tend to take their dollars west I suppose.

So sweet that the Stiller family is tight like that.

That is one beautiful estate. I'd be happy with the guest house alone. The outside looks gorgeous.

His talentlessness has rewarded him well.

His house is just like him - over-rated. I love the decor, but $11m and change.... no way.

Gorgeous!!! My step-sister, who runs the LA Conservancy, and who is on the Board along with Mr. Stiller, has been there and told me how beautiful the place was. IT IS!!!

I had read in the tabloids on the Internet about a year or so ago, that they (he and his wife) were having marital problems, and that she wanted a divorce. Supposedly due to him being a workaholic. Supposedly, he had no idea she was gonna ask for a divorce. Anyway, the rumor was that they would soon put their house on the market. I asked my sister about it, and she had no idea, but hoped that wasn't true, because she said they were such a nice couple. We'll see. This place is beautiful, though! Good luck to them. I am going to e-mail my sister now.

12:15 so right. He isn't the least bit funny. Zoolander was stupid and silly, not funny. I don't bother to see most of what he does, so a funny movie might have slipped past me, but I doubt it.

Stepsister -- hey, why not ask your relative to suggest that Stiller do a "house tour to benefit the LA Conservancy," much like Ashton Kucher did recently for some other org? I'll bet lots of people (me included) would pay $100 for a glass of cheap wine, a cracker, and a chance to scope out this gorgeous place up close!

"The whole is less than the sum of its parts."

Never a fan of the Mediterranean style, this one is an exquisitely executed sample of the genre, with all the atmosphere of '20s Hollywood/Luxe a la the recent remake of Mildred Pierce. Even the outdoor spaces are beautifully executed. And yet...

...I love the tile on the fireplace surround, the whimsy of the astronomical frieze in the study, and the wrought ironwork. But for me it just doesn't gel somehow. It comes across as stagey in the layout, as if it were one of those designer showcases where each gets his/her own room; other than the over-prevailing white, there's a lack of cohesiveness. Perhaps there are good bones underneath.

As for Stiller himself, well ––– he's not his father; now there is a funny man.

Meh, I like the pool and outdoor areas but for $11.5MM I'd keep shopping.

Can someone tell my why you would not place a listing on the open market?

It's nice, especially the outdoor areas as Pebblebeach noted. As far as I can tell, there's no view to speak of however, and it has streets bounding both the front and back of what is a narrowly defined property. I'd say he'll be lucky to pocket half the asking price, and even that will probably be a long and slow process getting there due to his long standing unrealistic price expectations.

It's hideous. Too cluttered and all over the place. It reminds me of Linda Evans' house she sold a few weeks ago.

Does nobody read this stuff? There are undoubtedly still some of Stiller's things in there but this house is STAGED. Whine about the interiors all you want, but it's STAGED.

Would not spend that kind of money in Outpost/Hollywood. Rather go to Bevery Hills, Holmby, Bel-Air, Brentwood or Palisades Riviera.

It is ok, but not great.
I would not pay more than $6.9 million for it.

While Stiller is not the funniest guy, he is somewhat funny and he is very nice, so I have no problem supporting his movies. I love his dad too.

It's not where I'd spend $11 million but it is a beautiful house.

tones of character in this home!! lovely beams, terra-cotta tiles, custom period kitchen, mature gardens. But I believe that at that people at this price point in America don't want seemingly low ceilings, a whole bunch of small contrived rooms and a swimming pool that engulfs the whole backyard?!?T

NowhereinAZ...I asked my stepsister about this and she hadn't even heard that he had put his house on the market or planned to. She asked me for the link to this site, which I gave her. A tour for $100.00 WOULD be a good idea! I'll see what she thinks!
