UPDATE: Jeana Keough

Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief because according to the Orange County Register, Real Housewife of Orange County Jeana Keough has once again pulled a real estate rabbit out of a foreclosure hat.

Last week Your Mama discussed and dissected the impending foreclosure and scheduled auction of Miz Keough's hulking house behind the gates of the upscale Coto de Caza development in the blistering hot inland area of Orange County, CA. The property had been on the market in the summer of 2009 with an asking price of $5,500,000 but as recently as last weekend, Miz Keough had her 7 bedroom and 8.5 pooper property on the market with a substantially reduced asking price of $3,900,000.

However, according to Miz Keough, after much cajoling, finagling, harassing and calls to HUD, her congressman and the Governator's office she managed to get her lender Citibank to not only call off the foreclosure and auction but to restructure her damn mortgage to an amount that she can afford during this time of economic upheaval and reduced circumstances.

The children can say what they will of Miz Keough and her profligate ways, but bee-hawtcha is nuthin' if not tenacious and resourceful when it comes to saving her house. She also says in the article that things are going well for her and that she starts filming next week, which can only mean that she's returning for the next installment of the reality tee-vee trainwreck that is The Real Housewives of Orange County.

  6. Is there anything these embarrassing people won't do to make a buck, or relentlessly promote themselves and/or their useless offspring?

    No

I'd be curious whether the "restructuring" reduced the principle or just reduced the monthly payments and tacked the difference on the loan. Citibank must know that they weren't going to have any more luck selling that white elephant than the Keoughs did. Better to get whatever they can for now instead of foreclosing and choking down the massive write down they'd have to eat on this property.

I like her and she is a hard worker and down to Earth.

  10. I sort of wish I could be one of those really objective people who looks at Jeana Keough and says "You didn't save enough money when the market was great and you were raking it in"...but I cannot.

Jeana Keough is the only likeable housewife on the show. She did work hard and she enjoyed herself. She doesn't drive the biggest and best car, her Mercedes is from the 90s, her Rolex is basic, her kids have jobs and are in post secondary education. Most importantly, she has a sense of humor about herself and wasn't an utter bitch to everyone else. In short, Jeana Keough is a decent person who hit some financial problems.

I'm happy she got the loan modification, I'm thrilled she's back on the show and I sincerely hope she gets this whole mess settled, makes money, sells her house when she feels like it and lives a happy and healthy life.

  11. I have to echo the comments here. Ms. Keough is the only likeable lady of the bunch and I'm glad to hear she found a way out of her financial troubles.

Also, it's nice to see she's returning to the show and not too proud despite the problems she's encountered.

  12. Welcome back to the show Jeana. We've missed you. I can only hope you are replacing that wretched hypocrite Alexis and her smarmy sugar daddy husband. Oh wait - to be a sugar daddy, one must be wealthy - their house is currently for sale as a short sale. HA!

  13. Mama can you post some info about the short sale on Alexis' house. She doesn't work and has nannies for the kids. Wake up!

  15. I enjoyed Jeana on the Housewives OC ... but something about this bugs me. Millionaire homes bailed out? That's how the banks are able to stop these actions. something's not right. just not right. and these are the Dems in office bailing out the rich ... so they can get richer? The Dems criticize the wealthy. So I guess Jeana is not wealthy enough?

Sorry --- just can't stand it. We're barely making it. we don't qualify for help ... we have a traditional mortgage, the old-fashioned kind ... thank you God for helping us keep going.

  16. If you want to keep your home, sometimes you just have to play hardball with the banks. Unfortunately, there are homeowners out there that are "playing by the rules" and paying their mortgages to the penny and on time, as much as it may put a strain on them financially. The banks policies are garbage and ridiculous. Jeana is in the business and knows how to play the game.
