UPDATE: Petra (Ecclestone) Stunt's New Manor

Anybody wonder just how unreservedly (self-)indulged British racing heiress Petra (Ecclestone) Stunt and her new husband James Stunt worked over interiors of the 50,000-plus square foot faux-French pile in L.A.'s Holmby Hills that she bought in mid-2011 for $85,000,000?

We did too, until yesterday when a clever but anonymous commenter directed us to a website with large, post-redo photographs that show the new day-core not particularly surprisingly skews towards a brooding and occasionally girly kind of glammy that looks to Your Mama like a plush hybrid between a fancy boutique hotel, an upscale gentlemen's club and a high end department store. We suggest y'all peep the pictures right quick before they get pulled from the interweb.

We perused the many lush images of the interior and exterior for seven or eight entire minutes and can only hope that Mister and Missus Stunt have flung a few personal knick-knacks and paddywhacks around the 120-some room behemoth since the photos were snapped because it all looks a little impersonal and comes off as overwhelmingly out-sized, especially considering that just two people actually live there.

The paneling in the airline hangar-sized foyer with its massive sweetheart staircase has all been slathered with crisp, white paint and Candy Spelling's plain ol' buff-colored marble flooring was swapped for a high-impact and super graphic over-scaled black and white marble stripe pattern. There are a number of gilt-framed oil portraits of unknown people affixed to the walls as well a deeply saturated photo of Petra that shows her sitting on the edge of some piece of furniture in an unidentifiable but decadent setting looking somewhat forlorn in a turquoise colored shift dress that probably cost as much or more as her cleaning gal's car.*

There are enough reception halls, living rooms, dining areas and lushly textured lounges on both the main and basement levels to comfortably accommodate dozens of people at the same time. This house, children is so damn big that there could easily be a raucous party working it out down in the bowling alley and a tea party going on in the cavernous, ballroom sized living room and neither party would know the better. The tremendous main kitchen has at least three boxcar-sized work islands and commercial-grade appliances that would probably allow a well-oiled kitchen staff to turn out delectable spreads for both hypothetical parties at the same time plus a midnight buffet for forty.

Both the his and the her bathrooms in the master suite are exceptionally spacious and lavishly appointed. Mister Stunt's is mostly brown and manly while hers is girlishly glitzy with a giant heart shaped mirror and a free standing soaking tub smack in the center of the many-sided room.

Mister Stunt's walk-in closet/dressing is cozy and elegant like an expensive haberdashery with lustrous ebony cabinetry and wall-to-wall carpeting while hers is a gigantic, well-lit multi-level extravaganza with built-in jewelry cases and dressers, a grid of handbag cubbies, several dozens of feet of built-in drawers, motorized shoe racks, and rows of hanging racks set into mirrored walls that ring the upper level. In the center of the room a tufted sled-style sofa sits under a white glass chandelier and is flanked by a pair of headless manikins with a metallic finish.

The two-lane bowling alley in the basement was done over in shades of chocolate brown and a nearby game room with a similar milk chocolaty palette has a pool table, poker table and walls that appear to be upholstered in some sort of (probably and hopefully faux) fur.

Photos show Missus Stunt installed a full service professional grade beauty salon with a dizzying mirrored hallway that leads to a semi-circular reception lounge furnished with little more than an obscene, pink heart shaped settee. The salon itself is equipped with at least one make up vanity, two manicure stations and three hair style stations with platinum-toned tufted leather chairs.

And that's just the inside, puppies. Outside there are several acres of precisely manicured lawns and formal gardens, citrus groves, a resort-like swimming pool complex with and outdoor kitchen and lounging pavilion, vast terraces that would be right at home at the Taj Majal, a tennis court and garaging for a dozen or more of the Stunt couple's extensive fleet of high performance whips.

Public records show the 2012 property taxes alone for Missus Stunt's titanic Tinseltown pied-à-terre were almost $1.1. million. Anyone even want to guess at the annual upkeep costs for a property of this magnitude? Boggles and betwixts the mind, don't it?

*Be smart, children, Your Mama has no idea if Missus Stunt employs a cleaning gal and if so how much she earns or the value of any car she might drive. We also have no idea how much Missus Stunt may have paid for the turquoise dress. We sorta doubt it but for all we know she picked it up off the discount rack at T.J.Maxx.

I was struck by Ms. Stunt's (nice name) bathroom with the sybaritic tub surrounded by mirrors. I always like the idea of a tub by a window so you can soak while looking out at nature. But I am sure Ms. Stunt prefers to soak while looking at her glorious wonderful self so it makes sense to dispense with windows.

Its a huge improvement over spellings previous decor thats for sure, but the thing that i find amazing is that the entire renovation was completed in less than 3 months with close to 500 contractors on site every day.

Those gilded framed portraits in the foyer are Peter Lely's. He was a very well-known Dutch painter from the 1600's. There are quite a few that hang at Althorp (Earl Spencer's country seat). The Royal collection also has quite a few. They are very sought after. However, James Stunt is nothing but one of the most bourgeois and nouveau riche wankers to ever try to slide from Brooklyn to Greenwich in one generation, via his father in laws money.

Those paintings are about the only decent thing in the whole damn house. The only reason he probably acquired them, is not because he appreciated their province or subject matter but because they cost a lot of money and he saw Charles Spencer inherited a few. It was simply a way for him to social climb and he and the wife have the calluses to prove it...lol

As for the rest of the place it looks like a high roller section at Red Rock Casino in Vegas. One thing for sure, their "decorator" certainly went to the same dealer to get all the chandeliers and furniture.

What shocks the hell out of me is they did not have those damn Candy Brothers decorate the place. On second thought their taste is far more sophisticated than this run of the mill crap.

I'd kill to see the floor plans for that place.

Yes, gimme the floorplans

Mama - you are off to a great start in 2013. Thanks for the post. It certainly looks better than Candy's tired interiors. The manor got some air blown up its skirt! However, it is not an elegant and refined house. It never will be. It is surprising that her dressing room looks like a retail shop. Weird isn't it? Not a personal room to get dressed at all. It's also surprising that the beauty parlor is so large. But then again, Candy probably had access to television make up artists and hair stylists. I would much rather have a different house - like Vidal Sasoon's house now for sale.

Do you know what I find so funny. Petra's neighbor across the street is Michael S. Smith. As in the designor that did this little place called the White House.

"What shocks the hell out of me is they did not have those damn Candy Brothers decorate the place. On second thought their taste is far more sophisticated than this run of the mill crap."

Ha! The Candy brothers are renowned for their tacky properties - there's a reason only nouveau Russians & Arabs bought into One Hyde Park - it's absolutely vile. The Candy's decorating is absolutely not to Western European tastes - just look at their client lists & it becomes clear who they design for.

As for the art, Petra is know for her love of art - she has quite the collection. Not sure why you apportion it to her husband.

ugh, the only person who'd find this monstrosity "pretty" are trashy los angelenos and low-brow middle-class americans who imagine this is how rich live. or the ones who admire their weekend domiciles whilst on their credit card financed vegas holiday. absolutely hideous. the candy brothers aren't the sharpest, but their taste levels are echelons higher than petro stunt and this manor heap of vomit and yes, with one hyde park being superior in every way -- the difference in price levels being the key indicator, despite the more cramped living spaces.

the foyer of this faux manor is especially revolting. and of what chivvy department store did she model that poorly done dressing room from? petra, go to a tom ford boutique and see how dressing rooms should look like.

this faux manor was hopeless from the start. the faux (french, italian, whatever) american nouveau riche reincarnations are always poorly done. although the ira rennert hamptons compound followed distantly by fleur de lys are far superior in every way to this heap of shit.

Anyone happen to notice that tonight HGTV re-ran "Selling Spelling Manor"? Anyway, you see Candy Spelling leaning over blueprints and can see a whole bedroom wing upstairs (appears to be on the garage end of the house), but anyone notice that when they show the guy in the security room, behind him is a floorplan to the mansion?! Anyone have a program to capture stills and could enhance it? It looks like 2 floors are on the wall that you can clearly see...

Anonymous said...

It is amusing to see the conflicts of opinion between the "kiss the ground the super rich tread" types and the sensible skeptics about vulgar wealth. Just remember that Candy "no-taste" Spelling made it in the first place and her vulgarity cannot be excised. PS I find it odd that the RE agency (Domus) can't provide a website where you can click the pictures one by one, but have to use an uncontrollable > thingy.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone have a floorplan? I heard a mag like National Enquirer or Star ran a drawing back when the house was being built. I saw on another comments link on this site when the house was for sale that someone who had been in the house described much of the first floor. Anyone happen to read that? If so, do you think that person really was in there and does the description seem accurate to you?

Anonymous said...

I think the inside is contemporary and modern, I like the colors, but the fixtures and some of the furniture seems too femminine even though Petra describes her taste as masculine. I kind of like it, way better than Spelling's had it, but I don't think I like the floorplan and I HATE HATE HATE the outside of it.

Anonymous said...

The house is vulgar in size and way too McMansion looking in my opinion. Anyone see the Los Feliz Murder House located at 2475 Glendower in LA? Vacant for 53 years after a husband murdered his wife and tried to kill his daughter. Now that is a house I wish someone could get into and take pics of the interiors! Drive by it sometime if you haven't already!! By the way, the daughter he tried to kill is now a famous jewelry designer. Cool. Wonder if Petra wears any of her line?

Anonymous said...

Howdy all...I read Anon's post about someone previously describing the floorplan of the house and did some checking and here are the posts I found. After reading, this person had to be in the house, either as a workman, realtor, party guest, something.

Anonymous said...
About this house...well, I have been in it a few times and have seen most of the first floor (though never the attic or the bedrooms), and for those interested in a floorplan idea, here goes....if you look at the house from the front, of course, when you walk in the centered front door, you immediately enter the foyer with the double staircases. The only exit is straight forward, which leads to a hallway that runs most of the way end-to-end of the center of the house. Directly back, step down a few steps into the formal living room. Enter that room and turn left, you enter the formal dining room. On the other side of the room, you enter Aaron's library. Go back to the main hall (standing in the foyer facing the living room) and turn right, go past Aaron's library, go down the hall a bit and you enter the family room (if looking at the front of the house, it is on the right side, runs front-to-back with the bay window in back facing the yard), proceed through that room and you enter the media room (the room everyone comments about as being the "double duty" room), just behind that is the projection room. I never got to go into the room that opened on to the pool. Go back to the starting point of the foyer and this time turn left down the hall, you pass the formal dining room, and you enter into the breakfast room, and turn left into the huge kitchen. Again, I never got to go upstairs to see the bedrooms, or into the famous rooms (eBay room, doll museum, etc.), but I was told that the doll museum was in the basement as well as the bowling alley. I don't think this house is THAT bad as everyone is saying, it is a bit oversized, but I think the rooms are nice scale (seeing it in person and not just video or pics), the furniture arrangements are great for entertaining, but the problem I feel lies in the colors, styles, etc. of the actual pieces. Switch them out with current furniture and the house would be a very modern, nice house for someone who needed to live in a palace. Just my opinion though!

Hello again...I posted the April 1 posting about the floorplan for those interested. Well, I was recently in the house after a book signing event and saw into another room for the first time. It is the pool room (with the pool outside its doors). It is located down a hallway just off the screening room (you go down the hall, past the projection room, double white doors open out into the hallway). It is a nice room, bright, light, one of the best I have personally seen in the mansion (though I am partial to the living room---it is surprisingly very cozy when entertaining). Also, we went downstairs to the lower level (the staircase goes down under the one going upstairs on the right side of the foyer when you walk in), and at the bottom their is a large landing, a hallway that turns and goes to another wing of the mansion, and you step down to the pool table room. Off that was a hallway leading down the game room (with the custom Spelling pinball machine). I didn't go down to that end. The guest bathrooms on the main floor (a his and hers set up) are nice too, but large...most bathrooms that size at least have a tub in them!! LOL

Hello, I have been posting about the floorplan for those interested (see other 2 posts starting with April 1). I recently was in the lower level again and saw more rooms. You go down the stairs that curve under the stairs leading to the second story on the right when you walk in to the foyer, and at the bottom is a landing. To your left if you turn to face the stairs you came down, there is a doorway with a door opening onto a long hall leading to the end of the mansion below the family room/media room/pool room wing (the right side of the home if looking at it from the front). Did not go down to that area so do not know how that lays out. At the bottom of the stairs on the landing if you look to your right, it steps down 2 steps into the pool table room with a seating area (this room would be under the living room on the main floor). If you turn right once you step down into that room, there is a double set of doors that open into the doll museum with the doll theater and hidden door to escape in case of emergency (this room would be under the library above). If you turn left when you step down into the pool table room, there is another set of double doors that open onto a wide hall. To your left, there is a door (do not know where it leads--it was closed). To your right, a door opens into the game room with the famous Spelling pinball machine. At the end of the wide hall, a large doorway opens into the bar room, with a large couch at one end, and the bay-shaped bar at the other (the one with the round fish tank built into the wall). This room would be under the breakfast room area above. Off that, there is another set of double doors that open onto the bowling alley. First, there is a huge huge huge couch with 3 coffee tables, and you step down 2 steps onto the 2 lane alley (this room would be under the kitchen/china cabinet room on the main floor above, with the lanes running front to back of the mansion, in the front left corner if looking at the house from the front). I hope I described this so it was not too confusing. Just thought those interested who will never get a chance to peek inside might be curious!

ew this is so fucking tacky. She might as well just tattoo "new money spoiled c*nt" on her forehead. I actually didn't have a problem with her really before I saw this hot mess. First off, I never get when people take their decorators from one continent and send them to decorate their home on another continent. There are very, very few decorators who can do a house anywhere in the world and still make it fabulous. Idk how much new money London real estate most of you have seen, but one thing I'd say is that 90% of them fail spectacularly when attempting "modern."

Mama, idk if you've ever seen pictures of the house that was here before, I think it was owned by Bing Crosby? Well anyway, it was real nice, old Hollywood/ Bel Air type place. But even better was how nicely it sat on the property. You could've bought that place, hired the right architect, still kept it half the size of this shitpile and it would've sold for just as much. Although Petra making this place so disgusting is karma for candy building such a disgusting place. Hope it burns down with this broad and her gold digging probably gay husband inside. Now wouldn't that be a bitch.

God, I hate to compliment this vile family, but she did a great job of making Candy's mess into somewhere actually nice. I like it.

hmm in my taste the white rooms are kind of boring having no presence at all, but the blueish/violet rooms are actually really nicely done.

so did the sisters burned through daddies trustfund cause even if you count the spending including the megayachts its just south of 500m and manor was bought on loan from mommie. so i really dont think they are running out of money. also why borrow money from her mother if they could have just bought it for money from trust? hmm maybe some conditions of trust. on other hand if you buy a yacht for over 100m, how can a house for 80+m be a problem :)

but yeah, that kind of money, does make a person stop trying to go forward. a friend of mine, did it big in stock market, and he keeps his old job, as he says to make himself going

While I am naturally somewhat saddened by the radical décor change, I applaud Petra for creating a lovely & quite personal environment for her growing family. It truly is a home, which is exactly what I planned when I designed this future historical monument. Yes it is massive, but unlike many other large mansions every room was designed with a specific use in mind and they are seamlessly integrated together to create living harmony.

There are several commenters who seem to dislike my original décor, and that’s perfectly fine. Everyone has their own taste and I realize many people on this website are both very young and also come from more modest backgrounds and so may be unable to appreciate the subtle luxury and refined decorative choices that were implemented within the Manor. Indeed, nothing was gaudy or obtrusive; only upon close & personal examination can you really appreciate the sophisticated elegance of the design that I created with top specialists from around the globe and have once again showcased in the Manor in the Sky!

I hope the children will join me in wishing Mrs. Stunt & her family many more years of happiness in arguably the greatest & most famous estate in Los Angeles!

Anyone with ANY style would have revamped the exterior with color and suredly some construction to give it a (much needed) face lift. Her 3 month contruction timeline speaks volumes about this womans immediate spoiled nature, and lack of detail, or appreciation of any enduring quality of design.

The new interior is a massive improvement, though nothing can disguise the ludicrous size of the rooms. The exterior is still an abomination, not that she could do much about that.

In my opinion if you are under 30, you will like Petra's take on the house. If you are over 40, you might like Spelling's (and I do not believe background or breeding would make her style more appealing). I hate the floorplan I have seen or read about, and the outside is horrible. It is so non-distinct and plain.

Sorry Charlie, you created a behemoth, illogical architecture pile, or "historical monument" as you like to claim. You were like an addict in a drug den. Can't stick to one or two architectural techniques, you just gotta have it all!

Hell, once the Playboy Mansion has been disinfected and sanitized, it's architectural significance far outweighs Le Dump Manor.

This home will indeed be a case study for future architects on what NOT to do.

Good job, Mrs. Stunt!

Anonymous said...

Nice work on the decor, but the house itself is so oversized and grace-less, that you can only do so much.

Anonymous said...

The Manor should have just been torn down and something interesting with style built instead. Guess it shows nobody really wanted the house and ended up going to an heiress whose family paid for it for her. You think with the notoriety of the house and Aaron Spelling keeping anyone from photographing the interiors would have made someone rich enough to afford it come forward and snatch it up.

Anonymous said...

Betcha the decor on Spelling's new Manor in the Sky will be old fogie as well considering she is using the same long time designer (looks like he is 70 or more!) and the fact when she gave us a sneak peek on her HGTV special, one room will have a rose garden, trellises, and 2 Mahjong tables! Now if that doesn't scream old lady, nothing does!

I really like what she did to the interior. Obviously the Manor will always be an architectural abomination but she definitely did the best she could.

I don't understand why she had to choose between Spelling's house and Fleur de Lys. They are both ugly houses. I think very rich people would be way better off to go more for what they really like instead of the largest house they can find and the gawdy-awful interiors they create. They need to learn there is such a thing as livable luxury.

I just watched Selling Spelling Manor for the first time last night and felt badly for Candy - in the same way I felt badly for Barbra Streisand when I saw the shots on the Oprah interview of the mall she built in the basement of her new house/barn to display her antiques. Or when you see pictures of Martha Stewart's three kitchens in one of her many homes! I mean, really - there is such a thing as too much! But I think Candy would be the first to admit she came from humble beginnings. What a life and what a project she had with that house! Loved her insane organizational skills! Loved that she herself wrapped between 900 and 1100 Christmas presents some years! Hilarious that Aaron wouldn't fly and that they traveled by train and then boat - with her 54 pieces of luggage! Imagine the life she led - and cut her some slack - I mean she did hire designers and architects - they have to bear some responsibility for what got built! Her decorator was clearly very emotional as the house was being packed up - love that she is loyal to him! Cannot wait to see the Manor in the Sky! But yes, agree with many here - the grounds and pool are great.

I also found where it looks like the daughter who survived the attack made quite a name for herself in later years. She created lucite jewelry and appears to have sold it to Nolan Miller (who dressed ABC shows in 70s & 80s) and even Joan Collins herself wore it on "Dynasty". Still alive living in LA somewhere.

Spelling told the Associated Press that she let her dog Madison, a soft-coated Wheaten terrier, help pick out the best real estate agent for the task. She had her security bring the dog into the room every time she met one of the candidate agents and watched how the dog reacted. If Madison didn't like them, Spelling crossed them off the list.

Strong rumours that she lost a fortune with Madoff and Sir Alan Standford.

It will be cool just to buy the place so you can jerk off in Tory Spellings ex room.

For years the cast of Gilligan's Island tried to collect some of the royalties that Arron made on re-runs of Gulligan's Island. He made hundreds of millions of dollars on the re-runs in the late 60s,70s, and 80s. He gave zero of it to the cast, due to royalties clauses deliberately left out of their contracts. Nice guy!

Arron was a total creepy dude.

Spelling would hire female escorts for Candy and he would watch her have sex with the hooker and then he would have sex with Candy while the hooker watched

I realize many people on this website are both very young and also come from more modest backgrounds and so may be unable to appreciate the subtle luxury and refined decorative choices that were implemented within the Manor. Indeed, nothing was gaudy or obtrusive; only upon close & personal examination can you really appreciate the sophisticated elegance of the design that I created with top specialists from around the globe and have once again showcased in the Manor in the Sky!
********************
Assuming that this is the woman herself talking, I am vastly amused by the condescension and the claim of "subtlety" and that nothing was gaudy or obtrusive. On the other hand, if it is an imposter I applaud her getting into what I imagine to be Candy's mindset so well. 11:36 and 11:39 are getting the right ideas. I would prefer a ten percent yearly additional levy on the house value but anything to soak up some of the many loose millions sloshing around places like Bel Air and use it for wider purposes would be more than welcome.

Candy may be challenged in class but she IS lucky. She has won at least two high limit Jackpots at Bellagio. I can not forgive her though for not using the builder AM Stern to decorate her penthouse. I am all for loyalty, but let the 80yo decorator pick out flowers or something! Undoubtedly using AM Stern or another (very good) decorator would have meant a blank slate for them to work, and I am guessing based on her hording this would never happen.

If Candy lost a penny with Madoff I am quite sure the world would have heard of it. She hasnt let go of paying too much for marble 20yrs ago, do you think she would not scream bloody murder if Madoff had lost her fortune? Also, she would have been reducing the price of the house when it was for sale but never did ONE reduction from here 150M price until it sold.

The new Manor is fab! LOVE that chandelier in the foyer.

Is it just me or do all the books in the library look fake?

I stand by my earlier comment of Petra and James being bourgeois and nouveau riche social climbers with vegas casino taste, the Lily's excluded.

One has to read no further than that W article "Lady of the Manor" for proof of that.

I did not care for Candy's taste either. It does not matter what you do to the place it has little architectural redemption. It reminds me a bit of classic Russian Oligarch, no style just square footage on steroids. That is why I was surprised Petra did not get the Candy twins to decorate. If you are going to piss it away might as well go all out!

At the end of the day this is America and if that is the way they want to spend it, they earned it or inherited, so have at it.

I think the personal attacks on Candy marrying well are over the top and doubtful, as are the "dart throwing" with regard to her personal financing. I would be very surprised if she had any money with Madoff. Spelling was savvy as hell and no fool.

One can assure you this property is taxed quite enough. European and English Socialist vat taxes are just a product redistribution of wealth. Class envy is not how it is done here, even though the bleeding hearts and that socialist idiot in the WH are putting in a good college try.

The place is ghastly but hey, as long as they can issue the checks to pay for it... Have fun!

Anonymous said...

Wha'? America has the sales tax, which is a form of VAT, and it's not a wealth redistribution tax, it's a tax on spending and consumption.

Anonymous said...

we don't have a "VAT" tax, we have no national sales tax. Sales taxes very from state to state and even from municipalities. Also a VAT tax is generally FAR higher then the normal American sales tax, and in most countries foreigners can be refunded the VAT tax if they want to fill out All that silly paperwork and wait on that line at the airport. Everyone pays the sales tax here, American or not.

Anonymous said...

11:36, profits from selling homes are taxed as capital gains and I know most states have a millionaires tax which the buyers of homes over a million have to pay. It could be a federal tax, but I'm not sure and inclined to think it varies from state to state.
10:51, they may not call the "VAT" a wealth redistribution tax, but that's generally it's intention. Notice how things exempt are usually only things everyone needs, like food and what not. It is intended to affect the wealthy the most, and to only redistribute the wealth of their own citizens, which is why many places will refund the vat tax paid by foreigners.

Anonymous said...

First of all a VAT tax pays for a lot of services. Secondly, not everyone pays sales taxes, non-profits like churches are exempt. Foreigners to this country can also get their sales tax refunded.

9:52, you need mental help. Stop watching so much Fox News, all you are doing is making the Saudi Arabian Muslims richer:)

As far as the price reduction goes, you can't base anything on the fact there was none, as anyone in the business knew that she had not a hope in selling anywhere near that. And besides, considering maybe 500 people in the world could even afford the house at the price it sold for, do you really think it would've moved someone to make an offer based on lowering the price $10 million or more? No. People who will pay that are savvy enough to know it was overpriced and to make a much lower offer. That listing price did nothing for that property other than earn it the rank of one of the most expensive listings in the world.

As a house, it really is tacky. And yes, I mean tacky. Rooms are too large, furniture looks like it was all bought at one store (kind of like the feel of Ikea furniture but with a higher price tag). To me, it shows that it was put together in only 3 months. But, for a nice hotel, I think this property would be awesome. Perfect to hold receptions, meetings, lounge by the pool, etc. I know I would stay for the night! IF I could afford it, that is... :(

THANK YOU THANJ YOU THANK YOU for the person who posted on the 'Los Feliz Murder House'! I have lived in LA for a long time and never knew about it. I read stuff on the net, drove by it, it is a wild story and a great house. Would love to get shown around! And it is cool that the famous Ennis house from the movies 'Blade Runner' and the original 'House on Haunted Hill' overlooks it. Talk about cool--a house with a spooky past neighbors a house used in spooky movies. A++++

Anonymous said...

Spelling had the house and named it "Spelling Manor". Now that Petra has the house and re-did it in typical Kardashian-style (borrowing from previous poster's description), I think Petra should name her manor "Petra-fied" as I would be if I had to make that my home.

VAT can be refunded in many countries at airports, for example, if you're a foreigner and spend a certain amount on one receipt. E.g. in Italy more than 160 euros.

i think the main factor that sets Ecclestone sisters apart from their "competition" meaning other billionaire chicks is that they're strikingly beautiful. They have all predispositions for becoming global celebrities.

Anonymous said...

i also think its stupid they're creating separate brands. They should've launched an ultra glamorous reality show and create a an umbrella brand together.

Anonymous said...

also if i was as rich as them i'd buy rights to use gagnam style instrumental as an intro to my show.

their mum reminds of Alexis Colby, so i'd make her make a cameo in the intro of the show, just for giggles.

I don't think the sisters do have global celebrity potential. Other than their family money and their lavish spending, I don't think too many really care. Until this one bought the Spelling house, who cared about Petra? I think people are more interested in the Kardashians than the 2 Ecclestone sisters.

Anonymous said...

i disagree, if Tamara buys Fleur De Lys , this will put them on the map, big time. They'll sort of be bigger then anyone.
I have a feeling Petra wants fame, but is simply too shy and cant deal with it alone, she just can't pull it off alone. Tamara is perfect for the job. They just have to play their cards wisely.

Anonymous said...

Petra wants fame badly and though she completely ignores paparazzi she'd love it if they'd be more interested , but you have to give them something other then having the biggest house in LA and ignoring them completely. They stopped bothering her soon after she settled. Tamara has the drive and is single, so she can play the game.

That's right chitlins, all these removed comments here and in every other posting are 99% from spammers. It's getting so redonkulous that Your Mama may end up with reinstating moderated comments—which so many of y'all hate—if these spammer idiots can't control themselves. You can't imagine how much time we have to devote to deleting these spam comments so y'all don't have to deal with them.

Their only fame chance is the family money and their houses. You hardly ever hear of either one of them unless they buy a house or spend money or sell a house. Now someone like Jennifer Aniston, she just has to show up at a grocery store and everyone is talking for weeks about it!

Anonymous said...

I have to agree that just buying 2 extremely expensive houses won't make a difference. Everyone buzzed about the Spelling Manor until we saw inside, it sold, we buzzed about the new owner, now thanks to Mama we have seen inside, now it will fade. I think with the economy and everything going on nowadays, people don't want to waste endless time on people who are famous just for being famous or heiresses. Case in point, anyone remember Paris Hilton, or was it Holton? I foget.

Anonymous said...

Like others said, no Americans outside of the real estate world are interested in the Ecclestones anymore. The press tried to make them happen for awhile but no one cares. Maybe in Europe they are considered big celebs, but not here.

Remember how NBC tried to make Victoria Beckham happen with that TV special? Same thing, though obviously her husband is still big here.

Anonymous said...

lol, well of course nobody knows about them , yet. Thta's not even an issue. Only DailyMail posts about them . That's why Tamara is doing a reality show for the US market, so everybody will know. Their mansions , ultra wealth and fabulous looks , will be a nice platform for a successful show, imo.

Anonymous said...

You can't compare them to Victoria Beckham. Victoria is a married woman with tons of kids. What's interesting about that? Now a show about stunning billionaire chicks with biggest mansions in America, invading US i'd like to see. Its a different level of fabulosity. But that's just me. These other reality shows are kinda boring at this point. There needs to be some novelty.

The house probably requires a half dozen staff members (24/7).

Rule of thumb...one housekeeper for every 5000 square feet...55k square feet, 11 housekeepers...not to mention full time gardeners, security, chauffeurs, and valets!

Thank you for keeping the service industry humming :)

Mama--- Just put in one of those word key systems. Or can't you set it that only registered users can post? I'd prefer that to moderation just bc like said before, it kills a live flowing conversation.

As for the Eccelstones--- they could be much bigger than the K sisters. If you realize-- a few years ago they were no bodies too. The Eccelstones are a whole different breed of insanely rich that make the K's look poor and ppl would want to see. They so far have done nothing to make themselves mainstream although Tamara is in the works.

Petra is also very young. In her head she probably thinks she doesn't need to cater to media, fame will come to her eventually over the years. By the time she is 30, she'll be well known in LA either way. She's super shy and you can tell she feels very uncomfortable around cameras. She completely ignores the paparazzi , so they stopped covering her. Only in UK DailyMail covers them, guess Tamara gives them location through twitter or their PR agency. Petra is also married with kid coming, so she can't really do much. She wants fame just doesn't wanna get bothered acquiring it. I'm sure she'll be featured in Tamara's show since she has a brand and needs publicity and wants to be famous. Tamara is nearing her thirties and now that she's single it'll be much easier for her to film her show and go through all the different scenarios. She wants publicity for her brand also, but she's doing it primarily cause she's bored in life. Yes i am obsessed.

omg when she gets tired of la and it gets tired of her she'll end up selling this house for half of what she has into it.

there is a whole nother wave of bank owned properties on its way thats gonna once again slump the market.

banks have been buying up and holding assets in an atempt to stop the market slide but its coming again. this house will be worth less than the construction petra spent on it.

Hearing all these folks go on about the Eccelstone sisters (who are they, anyway? I mean, really?) reminds me of one of my favorite throwaway lines from Rosalind Russel as Sylvia Fowler in 1939s The Women:

"Well then let the story ride; it will all be forgotten in the morning anyway. Oh, you remember the awful things they said about what's-her-name before she jumped out the window? There -- you see? I can't even remember her name, so who cares?"

I suspect it won't be long before we tire of them & they fall into the what's-her-name category...

Do a registered user system, much better than those stop captcha word things. Hate those.

I think the Ecclestone sisters would make great TV. I am sure we would have said the same thing about the Kardashians, Paris, Jersey Shore etc etc that they would have failed and yet look where we are today.

I mean some true blue baller chicks with mega monster mansions all over the globe, who would not watch?

Anonymous said...

DEAR MAMA,

Can you give posters a weeks notification if you will institute a registered user system.

Just a courtesy!

Anonymous said...

paris hilton and jersey shore are gone gone gone. kardashians would be on their way out by now too if they didn't get married every 2.6 seconds and pop out babies with famous black men.

Anonymous said...

The Ecclestone's are intriguing in the way that anyone would be who had tons of money. I just don't think they will ever be big here in the US as far as the media goes. Unless they prove to be real people, I think we will run. And the kind of people who give back to the less fortunate. I live in LA and every day I see a homeless man, skinny and dressed in scrap clothes. I would love to be able to afford to reach out to him. Hard to think anyone could feel anything for the less fortunate when they go home to such a palace. But they could be great people, heaven knows I have no clue!

As far as the house goes, I like what she did with it. Looks much more hip and warm than when Spelling had it. I think the house will forever be known as the Spelling house though. Those who grew up on Aaron's shows in the 1970s and 1980s have alot to thank him for. I know alot of my best memories are sitting around the TV watching Charlie's Angels, Fantasy Island, Love Boat, etc! And I think Candy is cool too--she seems real, at least what I have seen on her on TV (ie Selling Spelling Manor). Gotta love her. And of course, there is always Tori! :)
