More Week End Wrapping Up

Is Beyoncé about to dump $5.9 million on a—ahem—redonkulously palatial, 25,000 square foot pile with 16 terlits in Houston, TX as a gift for her beloved momma Tina? Well, we really can't say because we don't know but according to the CultureMap Houston website there's at least one real estate agent in town who's spreading that fun little celebrity real estate tidbit.

There's also some scuttlebutt that retired professional basketball hall of famer Michael Jordan is considering leasing the mansion to hold his 50th birthday party. Could be...

In other Michael Jordan real estate news, Chicago-based property gossip extraordinaire Bob Goldsborough at the Chicago Tribune reported today that the lavish living basketballer has hacked $8,000,000 off the asking price of his 56,000 square foot mega-compound in Highland Park, IL. The new, $21,000,000 asking price still includes all the sleek contemporary furnishings not to mention a full-sized indoor basketball court.

In other Chicago celebrity real estate news, nice-gay decorator Nate Berkus has finally, after two long years, unloaded his old Windy City condo for $1.6 million, a mere $100,000 more than he paid for the place way back in 2003 and just over a million dollars less than he hoped to get back in early 2011 when it was listed for $2.65 million.

We received a covert communique this afternoon from Sammy Sunsetstrip to let Your Mama known that after more than two long years on the market at a variety of prices, the Sunset Strip mansion owned by actor Ryan Phillippe has finally be put into escrow with an unknown buyer for an unknown amount. Mister Phillippe paid $7.15 million for the Sunset Strip residence—described in listing materials as a "Zen modern retreat"—back in 2008 after he split with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon and was last listed with an asking price of $6,995,000. If Your Mama were the wagering type—and we're not—we'd bet the farm Mister Phillippe's pocketbook is gonna take a pounding.

And another quick breakdown:

Beyonce: My eyes! My eyes!

Jordan: It's still next to a damn railroad track.

Berkus: Surprised he didn't take more of a bath on this one.

Phillippe: It's not his pocketbook I'd like to see take a pounding...

o.k. so THIS has got to be The House of Dereon, right?

Saw Jordan's house and where it is located this summer. No damn way in hell I would pay over $3 million for that house where it is. Anything over $3 million I am driving out to Lake Forest and never looking back.

OMG, I forgot to add what a tacky disaster that mess Beyonce' is looking at. Wow. I would not give more than $2 million for that on a generous day. But Ryan Phillipe's pile of garbage, that is a teardown.

Amazing how even the nice parts of Houston (with the exception of River Oaks) look like a third world country.

My mother would take one look at this thing and say "I hope you can get your money back!"

How is it that someone married to a doctor, claims to have lived in a duplex in Chelsea and shared a housekeeper with a celeb claim that they "need to work"? I realize doctors have horrendous student loan debt, but Dr. Cooter should be a long way from those loans by now.

Honey if you "NEED" to work versus "WANT" to work in your position, you two must really live "high on the hog".

I do not "need" to work but I "want" to work to contribute to my own retirement. Hubby is a lawyer. A damn good one too!

Interesting that Reese and Ryan use the same listing agent.

Anonymous said...

I recall that Ryan bought the place very soon after there was a financial settlement in his divorce from Reese. I always thought the amount he paid (around 7 million) was probably close to what she had to pay to get rid of him.

hmm, the last pictured house looks from air like brasilian slum favela. or i guess ryan is a big fan of max payne 3 :)

Have we seen any photos of Nates new LA place yet? Did he buy or lease? Just saw him on a show in the New Year and he was not looking so great..especially since he just got back from Mexico he said. It is the anniversary of the Tsunami so Im sure its hard for him every year.

Ryan's place is hideous! Lord have mercy!

You can't judge a house by the roof. The pool and the views are probably a huge selling point.

Country Cutie on Duty, you don't seem well are you all right?

1:41, haha, that is exactly what I was thinking it looked like, a favela.

Yolanda's mama Tina sure likes those corporate-looking mansions! Did she ever unload that other hot mess?

Stop spreading fake rumors about Tamara. That house just sold about a year ago to the Charming Charlie owner and it is NOT for sale. Bye and don't come back again.

Anonymous said...

Obviously it is the same house as the one in DailyMAil/from new Hello. Its the same floor (black/white) , 6 windows and "door frames" dont know the word in english(she painted it black though). You are horribly rude, btw.

Anonymous said...

in the video @ 00:46 you can see the same floor (black/white) and @ 00:001 you can see the window with 6 frames that she is standing in front of in Hello article. It is the same house.

No hunny, you were wrong. She didn't buy anything. And no one cares about these Kardashians of real estate. Get thee ass over to TMZ and stop hijacking Mama's posts. Bye!

Anonymous said...

So did Kardashian buy that place? I laughed when Mama said the owner was the high profile lawyer next door. Talk about Sellers remorse. It will be two hours after closing and the law suits will be a flying I bet!

Anonymous said...

Its redesigned compared to the pics from 2010. I see more black in the house. They style is very similar to Petra's.

"I'm very excited about it: it's a new beginning. It's like January marks a whole new start," she said. "It's definitely a big house and it's hopefully somewhere I'll have forever. I wanted it to be my dream home and I would definitely like it to be my family home when I settle down and have kids. The thing I'm most excited about, though, is moving into a new house that I can make new memories in and close the door on the past."

I'm definitely not coming back. I was never here anyway, except for when google news brings me here in regards to the sisters.

btw, you're completely classless.Your parents must be so proud.
