End of Week Bits and Pieces: Rihanna

BUYER: Rihanna
LOCATION: Pacific Palisades, CA
PRICE: $12,000,000
SIZE: 11,000 square feet, 7 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: We know every other celebrity property gossip already discussed it days ago but in case any of y'all somehow missed it, Rihanna (allegedly) dropped $12,000,000 on a gated, privately situated and aggressively contemporary mansion in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles.

Property records do not yet reflect a transfer of ownership so we can't confirm or deny the reports of Riri's purchase. Could be she wrote a check for the whole amount. Or could it be she simply rented the the property? In addition to being for sale the seven bedroom and 9 bathroom residential beast was, until recently, also listed for lease at an astounding $70,000 per month?

There's probably little more we can add to the discussion so rather than get all bitchy at length about the bizarre scalloped roof line, the prominent entrance pavilion that looks like a damn Best Buy, the redonkulously cliché sweetheart staircase in the foyer, the chocolate brown crocodile embossed leather wall covering in the powder pooper, the curvaceous wood panels in the hotel-lobby like living room, the 11 (or more) gas fireplaces and/or the mint green counter tops in the otherwise dark green laundry room we're just gonna let y'll peruse the pictures and make your own assessments and judgements.

One, two, three...Go!

  1. Omg this is the tackiest thing ever. I've read your blog for over a year now, (love it) and this is the first thing that has been so painful it prompted me to type.

    Just wow.

  3. Yikes! At least the pool looks like fun.

  4. She needs to get in there and paint over those hideous cream colored walls asap. House seems like a rip off, but it also seems custom made for Rihanna.

  5. Neuvo, Garish, Thinks it is fabulous House is like the new owner.

  6. It's not even worth jumping on the bandwagon beat down on this one,but this house is nasssty.

12 mil. Why does she keep buying the same (type/style)of house over and over? Try something new like showing taste, deferring to advisers when making large real estate purchases, and try making money when you sell.

I guess it is her money--and she's made alot. Is she the one that dated Chris Brown?? I forgot. Maybe he knocked her sensles or she had no sense upon arrival.

But hey, I've lost money at a few things too. Maybe her and I need to switch advisors and my crew will tell her crew what houses to buy and to come over in the Rover and we will rondezvouse (sic) at the club around 2....(shout out to Biggie).

Who you sleep with, who you creep with???

But, bottom line, the home is 8,000square feet crammed into a 5,000 sq. ft. lot. The whole thing is a mess. Fo real girl. Have yo self a hizzapy holidayz and a mo' merry Chriztmas!!

    From your boy,

    MAMA'S BLACK SHEEP IN WEHO,

Still trippin', still here, fo sho, and still comining home to my mama's for the New Year!! But my gift hasn't arrived yet--should I be worried?

I guess I will be looking out for it on Saturday. Amazons must be runnin' slow this year. I'm sure Momma drop shipped by now.

But, I will send a little downpayment on the New Years hilarities at the Momma's house with this:

(And, Momma, cover the step Daddy Cooter's eyes, before playing, because you know he doesn't find tawdry amusing. That's why I am a "Momma's boy!"

  7. I bet a little girl from Barbados thinks this is about the niftiest thing she has ever seen. Why spoil her happiness with good taste?

  9. She seems to like cheap/tacky looking modern houses. Also, for anyone familiar with the Palisades, her pool practically hovers over Sunset Bl! Too loud!

  10. She must have a thing for cheap construction and bad design. I didnt think she could top her defective leaked like a sieve prior house, but she has...and for what?? Double the price. Dumb girl probably used the same agent, same home inspector. She must like abuse.

  11. I love the place and I would gladly live there with her even though she is an idiot.

And 5:47, you dumb hick, you might want to take a trip to Barbados if you can ever afford it. There are mega mansions littered all over the place. She has seen much better than this. There are no white trash bargain vacation deals to go to Barbados like Hawaii or Jamaica. You have to have real money to go there and live there.

  12. This is actually kind of a fun house in its cartoonish way. But the miles of sprayed stucco exterior lack texture--it's a big beige blob. The interiors look flimsy and boring; it could be an Ikea dream house. The overall effect is very impersonal, like a Caribbean resort hotel spa.
(I think the "green kitchen" must be a laundry room.)
But this Catwoman pad has potential and it looks very private. With a good decorator, it could be made intimate and comfortable. Stop with the mean comments about Rihanna--this is not a tour of her home.

  14. 8:16 Sorry but this blog IS about real estate and there is NO decorator that can transform this pile, unless they are an arsonist as part of their services. If the gal had not already purchased one shoddy constructed, gaudy, awful house that resulted in multiple lawsuits (Mama commented on that one), we children might go easier on her. The seller should have purchased a powerball ticket when he unloaded this stucco by the yard tear down, as it was their lucky day.

  15. oh but it has a *Double Staircase*
    so that's a :P lus.

what is with all the massive gingerbreadman like stucco eaves hanging out all over the place in scallop shapes.

does this place have Ocean views??
from the lawn as well as rooms ?

that is the only way i would buy the place (and if i had been the builder i would have built a smaller house but with 3 floors
that had a much smaller footprint.

less cement and stucco and more greenery and gardens around that thing.

  16. She has DREADFUL taste. In houses, men, word choices...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Looks like the old house and those walls look a little hotel-ish

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hideous! there are so many examples of modern done right that are currently for sale in the platinum triangle and she buys THIS! hell this place is worse than norm zadas pile in beverly park.

  19. wow i just looked at the google street view on this and the pool deck hangs maybe 25 feet above sunset. no privacy, constant noise, this bytch cant be serious

  20. 8:14 Errr....are you telling us that she lived in one of those "mega mansions" in Barbados or was born, brought up or entertained in them? Or that she just saw them "up there" on the hill? There is a difference, you know.

    ReplyDelete
  21. For 8:14 as Wikipedia would have it:

Robyn Rihanna Fenty was born on February 20, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados. Her mother is Monica Braithwaite, a retired Afro-Guyanese accountant, and her father is Ronald Fenty, a warehouse supervisor of Barbadian and Irish descent. Rihanna has two brothers, Rorrey and Rajad Fenty, and two half-sisters and a half-brother from her father's side, each born by different mothers from his previous relationships.

Growing up in a three-bedroom bungalow in Bridgetown and selling clothes with her father on a street stall, Rihanna's childhood was deeply affected by her father's addiction to crack cocaine, alcohol, and marijuana, and her parents' turbulent marriage ended when she was 14.
    **********************
Lots of mega mansions in her life there, no doubt.

  22. Congrats and enjoy those upkeep bills RiRi.

Amazing I can get an adorable cozy well built home in the south for 200K nestled on a patio lot. Best of all, IDon't have to worry down the road If I can afford to keep it.

  23. There is something very wrong with America is this ho can afford a $12M house just a year after doing a short sale on her old house.

    ReplyDelete
  24. She just has bad taste, like everyone has pointed out, and it obviously encompasses so much of her life. Sad to waste her money on such trash though.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I lub her. She makes me want to dance like a meat puppet. Maybe I go to Sunset Abenew and call up to her pool, "Ray Jay (my pet nmae for her) please spray me with the warm water from your pool".

    ReplyDelete
  26. Someone stole my favorite saying. This house is cheap and tacky! I always use that phrase when I post on Homes Of The Rich LOL. Anyway this is the cheapest looking contemporary garbage. That's why I hate contemporary cause it usually looks like cheap cardboard garbage. I really hate walls that look like dry wall cause dry wall is just cheap cardboard. I prefer some sort of paneling or veneer or coating over the wall so it doesn't look like drywall. Now I understand why she bought that cheap leaky contemporary mess last time. I guess she just doesn't know any better.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Also she got ripped off. $12 million for some cheap contemporary junk in Pacific Palisades. I know Pacific Palisades is a nice area. I know Steven Spielberg and Goldie Hawn live there. But this isn't Bel Air or Malibu or the Hamptons or Palm Beach. I don't think Pacific Palisades is all that to sell someone cheap garbage on a sliver of land and charge $12 million. If I was Rihanna I would have talked this down to $7 million. I would have offered $5 million and met them somewhere in the middle. The builder probably bought that empty lot for $900,000 and built this house for $500,000 at best.

  28. The Anonymous commenter who commented on December 22, 2012 12:55 AM, is totally racist. Mama should definitely remove his comment and his racist Youtube link because it is Racist and extremely offensive to most decent people who come to this site and want to see and read about real estate and not be bombarded with blatant hatred and racism.

  34. As has already been mentioned, what is it with Rihanna and large cold ugly houses, with terrible entrances. This house and the last look as if the builder (I don't imagine an architect was involved) forgot that the owners might want to enter or leave through a front door until the last day of contruction, an after-thought.

  37. To the two morons who obviously cannot read and thus probably will never have the income necessary to visit Barbados, I did not say she grew up or lived in a mega mansion in Barbados, I merely stated that the idiot that made the comment made it sound like people in Barbados have never seen large mansions like that and she is supposed to be shocked and amazed by the ones here.

As someone who did grow up in a mansion in Barbados, I found it amusing when I moved up here and some of the ignorant hicks like yourself asked me in school if we lived in huts and shacks. I think my parent's master bedroom was like 800+ sq.ft and my aunt's house makes some of these houses on here look like guest houses. A room at Sandy Lane for one night cost more than what most people make in a month.

  38. At least the neighborhood has good security (SSA Patrol).

  41. The developer won the lotto with this sale. No one else looking to spend that much money in the Palisades would go for a hideous monstrosity like this. Truly awful and she will take another big loss when she decides to sell, guaranteed.

    ReplyDelete
  42. mama, 12 million cant be the official sale price? it just cant, it makes no sense. redfin lists nicer homes nearby for 6-8 million. what was the original ask on this? shes honestly an idiot if shes paid 12. If she likes modern so much why not buy norm zadas old pile in beverly park. the sellers are real motivated and i bet she could have got it for less than the 16.5 million they paid 2 years ago.

As my Nana used to say, some people only have taste in their mouths...

...when it comes to real estate, poor home gurl must be deaf, dumb and blind.

    Pity.

i find it hard to believe they are so motivated when the house isn't listed and hasn't been on mls for quite awhile now... and altman is still trying to push it at that ridiculous $25m price point on his website.

while i know there have been some big sales in beverly park... this home just doesnt cut it for what people want in beverly park. its a sprawling single story with a guest house and "bad" contempoary as I dont feel is very attractive. it could be cool but thats after a few million in reno's
