Brittany Murphy's Mother Lists Hollywood Hills House

All us real estate gossips and celebrity property watchers knew this day was a comin' and that day, lamb cakes, has arrived. Recently deceased actress Brittany Murphy's hairrific widower Simon Monjack contacted the folks at gossip juggernaut TMZ to let them know that Miss Murphy's mother–who now, apparently, controls Miss Murphy's assets–hoisted her Hollywood Hills home on to the market with an asking price of $7,250,000.

The 8,000 square foot house at the tail end of Rising Glen Road is where the young actress died of a complicated causes having to do with pneumonia, iron deficiency anemia and multiple (prescription) dug intoxication while taking a shower on the 20th of December 2009. She was 32 years old. Miss Murphy is perhaps best known for her roles in Clueless, 8 Mile and Riding in Cars with Boys. But as far as Your Mama is concerned her enduring professional legacy–if indeed she has one–was her 12-year run high-lariously voicing the absurdly naive Luanne Platter on the animated boob-toob series King of the Hill

Property records and multitudes of previous reports show that Miss Murphy bought the multi-story, quoin cornered Mediterranean mansion from pop super star Britney Spears in June of 2003. Brittany paid Britney $3,850,000 for the 5 bedroom and 5 pooper property that Miss Spears owned and occupied for a few years during the tail end of her not exactly virginal Justin Timberlake years.

Miss Murphy and her much older huzband Mister Monjack, who were wedded in May of 2007, reportedly shared the wonky looking house in the hills with her mother. As far as we know, Momma Murphy and Mister Monjack are still living up in the house (comma) together. Mister Monjack, who plans on attending the Academy Awards ceremony this weekend in his wife's honor hopes to attend with her mother.

Your Mama has yet to locate an online listing for the property that will likely attract a lot of looky loos if not serious buyers.

  1. Wasn't that where the Rolling Stones were staying in the film "Cocksucker Blues"?

  2. This looks like a great house and how weird is it that Brittany used to live in the same house! I am sure they will find a buyer for it very quickly.

  4. fyi - the show she voiced Luanne on was King of the Hill, not Kill of the Hill. Freudian slip?

  8. I swear the people in LA are mentally retarded.
Bought the house for $4 million, market in the tank now, home probably worth half so what do they do, list it for almost double what they paid.
Jesus Christ, what world do these people live in?

  9. Her death is a shame since it probably could have been prevented.
That said, I admired the house when the paps were all there in December. I'm curious to see a layout.

These people live in a never-land of exaggerated salaries and rewards for very little (easy) work. Pretty selfish too, as might be expected, since most of their loot seems to go for houses to show off their wealth. I have deep feelings of schadenfreud when I see that they have lost some of it.

  11. Who is anon 7:43 calling a scumbag? I would certainly hope it's not being directed at Mama....

  12. Anon 12:10: Blah, blah, blah - deal with your own jealousy and don't worry about how others live! If selfish, rich people didn't live in showy houses, what in the world would you do for fun...no need for Realestalker!! Quit feeling sorry for yourself - get over it!

Though not to justify any entertainment personality's salary, someone that calls what they do "easy" would do well to wall in their shoes before opening the cake-hole of verbal diarrhea and constipation of thought. I'm not involved with the industry, or even the periphiary, but I do know some that are. There will always be exceptions, but most work just as hard as anyone else at what they have chosen to do for a career that involves 300 rejections for every job they land. No need to judge those you don't personally have intimate knowlege of. Not THAT kind of intimacy.

  15. Good. In an ever changing world, it is comforting to know that as I return to my Mama's ample bosom for a brief respite from the stresses of adult life, her special needs children are still here in their dirty diapers.

  16. 1:14 Jealous? No, I have plenty of money. What bothers me are the poor and quasi-poor who get next to nothing from the society while the plutocracy has things rigged so they live in palaces like the nobility of the Ancien Regime. America is supposed to be a democracy; instead it has become a disgusting plutocracy that has killed the American Dream. That should bother intelligent people.

  18. Brittany Murphy's house was featured years ago in In Style. It was nice. It was very - I don't know - very genteel. Here is a link to some photos

  19. @Anonymous 9:25 - While the house is most certainly overpriced, for Murphy to have purchased it way back in June '03, it is absolutely worth more than what she paid for it. Probably closer to $5 million now I'd guess. It's absolutely appreciated though.

  24. How long would you hang onto a house after a loved relative died in it... I'd unload it quick too!

  25. Without their breadwinner neither her husband or her mother can afford the payments on this house.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I find it odd that being her hubby got NOTHING in her will, this property is all of a sudden listed. Coincidence???

  27. No ... the Stones stayed at a house on San Marcos Drive near the Hollywood Bowl that originally owned by Charlie Chaplin.
