UPDATE: Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner

By now, all the children surely know that ack-tor Ben Affleck and ack-tress Jennifer Garner recently spent the big bucks buying the Pacific Palisades estate of super-producer Brian Grazer and his ex-wifey, screenwriter Gigi Levangie Grazer. To be more exact, records and reports show the Jenufleck's paid $17,550,000 for the sprawling, private and worked over Cliff May ranch house.

But what about their former love nest Brentwood? Soon after word leaked out that the couple settled on the Grazer spread, it was whispered to Your Mama by Donna Tellaitall (and then transmitted to the children) that the baby-making couple were quietly shopping their former digs on N. Tigertail Road around with an optimistic asking price of 8.5 million clams. Miz Tellaitall also whispered to Your Mama that she heard a deal was being made at a much lower price in the 6.8 million dollar range.

As it turns out, the actual sales price was even lower than Miz Tellaitall thought. According to property records, the new owners of the Jenufleck's old house–a money man and his wife–paid $6,250,000 for the 4 bedroom and 4 bathroom residence that records show measures 3,843 square feet.

Given that Missus Affleck purchased the property for $5,500,000 in June of 2004 when she was still Miss Garner, not much (if any) profit was realized on the sale of the hacienda style house, an economic situation about which we imagine there are only crocodile tears.

  2. $375K (+6.8%) after commission assuming they have not done any improvements on the house. That's a whole lot better then a -10% loss in S&P500 over the same time. And, it's not taxed.

  3. 6.8& commission? Who pays THAT?

  10. ask any real hollywood producer and they will tell you that only 3 studio backed feature films are currently shooting in hollywood that are backed by the studios

at least that is what a few producers told me

yes, it is that bad out there

the sag pending strike is the culprit

  11. I bet the money guy and his wife take a 50% hit on it next year when they try to unload it asap due to hollywood becoming ground zero for the next great depression

  13. They have been shooting less and less in Hollywood for years. Toronto and Vancouver is where the shoots moved. That does not mean that directors, producers, actors, screenwriters, makeup people, and a ton of their assistans, assistants to assistants, etc. are not getting paid - the money that they will be happy to spend on LA real estate.

  15. shoots are way down everywhere by at least 50% and I am talking worldwide

Illegal downloading and the hedge fund crash are to blame

  16. I'm sure Ben & Jenn are relieved that their real estate business is finally settled. She may not have made any money on this property but she didn't lose any either, a real reason to celebrate given the present market. Thanks Mama!

  17. She did a guest on Martha's show which I happened to catch and Martha made the point of asking about the new house (talked about it being designed by Cliff May and acted like that was a big deal, even though she probably just knows from one of the design boys on staff that it's cool to like Cliff May.) Martha wanted to know if it had a great kitchen, because apparently Jen is really into cooking, and Jen disappointed Martha because she was honest and didn't claim it was the most fabulous kitchen ever, but rather said no, it was okay, and at some point they would change it. lol. You know, in Martha's world everything is always the very best, as in 'isn't that the most glorious arrangement of peonies you have ever seen', etc.

  18. 8 and a half million dollars in this buyers market!

How do you spell greed and want..."Jenufleck"

And I would not worry about a lack of movie work for these two. They are both booked with multi-million dollar projects for many years to come.
But I am sure they would not mind one of you worry warts forking over the full asking price for their old house.

  19. Who says hollywood is not doing to bad ?

"The MPA said its member companies lost 6.1 billion dollars to worldwide piracy in 2005. Of that lost revenue, about 1.2 billion dollars came from piracy in the Asian region."
