All of Your Mama's sources still say the a-list couple did indeed buy the humongous Holmby Hills house we discussed a few weeks ago, and now we hear they're out touring high priced properties in Malee-boo, including a newly built $25,000,000 mansion on the cliffs of Point Dume (pictured above) that features 7 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, private beach access, a home thee-ay-ter, 2 family rooms, a kitchen with two of everything, and a detached guest house for their growing army of personal assistants and nannies.Your Mama sees a new S-Class Mercedes in the future of their lucky real estate agent.
Why do The Affleck-Garners need a kosher kitchen?

True. of course they can do whatever they wish, and many "doors" are open to them to indulge themselves, just seems a bit "lottery winner ish" to me, If i just bought one large house... for $20millplus, to be out looking at multi million dollar beach houses, so soon, .... well, maybe they need both a new biz manager and new P.r. person.... my opinion only

It looks similar to the Holmby Hills, Truman Show debacle, but the proportions and lines of this house are much more pleasing.

BMW rocks. But iDrive is, like Jaguar's eternally retarded J-gate gearshift, one of those stupid things it insists on retaining even though almost everyone hates it. You get used to it, but it overcomplicates functions that were pretty straightforward to start with. At least they've been moving more of the functions back onto the dashboard, where they belong...

ReplyDeleteI can't imagine they'd intend to buy yet another insanely expensive property. They seem to be so down-to-earth and reasonable. Even if the purchase price isn't an issue for them now, what about the insanely high property taxes they'll be paying forever??
Regardless, this is a home that I would truly love to own. Imagine watching sunsets from there every night (when you're not having to evacuate for fires or mudslides). At least the property is high enough to escape tsunamis. I can taste my sunset mai tai right now...
Point Dume is pretty safe from fires Parker ... Well, no part of Malibu is invincible but it's not usually affected & hardly ever evacuated ... It is quite an amount to spend on 2 properties ... even if they earn a substantial amount for a movie - after tax, agent, manager, lawyer, assistants, nannies etc... you're left with not all that much to finance huge mortgages ... I guess as a 2 income family it kinda helps ...

ReplyDeleteHere in NYC, we're constantly having to step around double-parked Maybachs, always with their curtains drawn tightly shut; a beautiful piece of machinery, yes, but just too damn big for Manhattan.
Stick with the Beamer for in town.
This is a lovely home and only because it sits high up on a bluff does it suit the site so well; any closer to the beach and it might look a tad out of place.
Perhaps they just can't make up their minds - both houses do have a New England feel to them.
Ah, the dilemmas money can inflict.
BTW, Bentley, I hear there is a company on the East Coast that can help you to override the iDrive.

ReplyDeleteThe last 2 major fires - was Point Dume evacuated? No! Compared to areas like Malibu Canyon, Malibu Bowl, Serra Retreat, Malibu Hills, Latigo Canyon, Monte Nido IS Point Dume safer from wildfires? Yes!
If you live along Cliffside Dr or Birdview Av you are as safe as you can get. But like I said in my original post - nowhere in Malibu is invincible.
And yes, I know during the Corral Fire in Nov parts of Point Dume were evacuated but it was for a very short period of time & was just precautionary.

Great Aunt Iris never drove either. She had chauffeur driven Cadillacs ("Buy American!" she would say) painted to match her favorite designer handbags. In her later years my father had a custom Rolls Royce designed for her with Cadillac emblems so she would think it was American.

Got caught up in the car talk and forgot about the house -- not feeling the weird bridge to the entrance from the driveway, nor the absence of a proper front door. I do, though, like the entry facade's massing and angled wing. On balance, a very tasteful project. But I wonder if much noise drifts up from the access road, parking lot and regular film/print shoots at Westward Beach below...

Nothing says the apex of automotive design like the suicide doors on those Lincoln convertibles (and in butter yellow! I'm green with envy. Wonder where that falls on the color wheel?) - better than the Mercedes gullwing, in my opinion.

Funny how attached we become to our cars, especially when we name them; my first car was a midnight blue Buick Riviera that I call "The Beast", I call my current obscure Aurora "Sweetie". Both have personality.
