Ricky Martin's South Florida Sell Off

Perhaps no one told perky nippled Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin that the South Florida real estate market is a bit dicey right now? Not only is He of the Bubbly Booty attempting to flip an ocean front residence in sleepy Golden Beach, FL for a stunning $22,500,000 (he paid just $16,250,000 for the property in April of 2007), word is spreading up and down Collins Avenue that the bon bon shaker has re-listed his Miami Beach residence for $19,500,000.

The 9,491 square foot N. Bay Road property with its 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms had previously been listed at $16,900,000 before being taken off the market five months ago. According to one of Your Mama's Miami Beach tattle tales, Mister Martin didn't make any improvements to the property while it was off the market, so Your Mama simply can not fathom what justifies the $2,600,000 price increase for a house that didn't secure a ready, willing and able buyer at $16,900,000 just five months ago. But, what do we know, right? This certainly wouldn't be the first time that raising the price of a home was a successful tactic for locating a stinking rich buyer.

Your Mama and the Dr. Cooter have recently booked a trip to Miami (first class tickets and an ocean front room, natch), so perhaps we'll call one of our local real estate agent pals to give us a tour of Mister Martin's big mansion on Biscayne Bay. Then again, we might just want to sit on the beach and let some good looking and shirtless beach attendant keep our gin and tonic glasses full.

The children shouldn't worry about where Mister Martin will be hanging his itty bitty bathing suit next. As far as we know, he's still got his big casa in Dorado, Puerto Rico and the somewhat newly acquired multi-million dollar pied a terre at the uber exclusive 40 Bond building in Manhattan. We also imagine (but have no proof or information) that SeƱor Bootylicious out looking for a new Miami Beach area residence with a good looking and well connected real estate agent.

  3. If I've learned anything from Our Mama about today's luxury real estate market -- and I learn so much more every day(!) bless her sweet snarky heart -- it is that these listing numbers are fiercely ingangible, speculative, and subject to course corrections in the plus/minus millions. It's fascinating to observe through Mama's eyes.

I appreciate what you are saying but ?

    A. have you even been to that mansion on 1 electra drive ? it is a work of art, designed like a spaceship

    B. I also heard that sony and merv griffin owned it at different times

at 12000 sqft on 2 acres of land not to mention incredible city views I think it is worth mentioning

they also rent it out at a minimum of 160k a night.

  9. Does Ricky Martin have a waterfall inside his home?

Am both appalled and impressed by how celebrities think they can buy something for one price and then jack up that price by 20% in six months without having done a thing to the house.

While I know that this is a desirable location, I still loathe and detest Florida. So, I won't be making an offer on this house ever, but I'm sure whoever buys it will love it.

Wtf? You mentioned this 1 electra drive place in the Julian Schnabel thread - are you advertising it for functions or something!

Electra Dr, location sucks & architecturally the house is hideous & the interiors are also hideous ...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Jack, darling, is that the only "nice" house you've ever been in?

Or are you just looking for some free advertising for the house?

Either way it's a little strange that you keep harping on this place.

    Have a nice day love.

I have been to parties at the rockstar drink mansions including that ones that are for sale right now
parties at mansions in bel air and malibu.

Hell I remt a floor in a mansion in bel air.

just curious about this one that is all.

There is a cloud of secrecy as to who the real owner is and I want to know why ?

does Sony still own it ?
    merv griffin ?

  17. wow, wow, wow, regarding the house that Jack built, err, just showed us.

there's is something slightly bunker-ish about the exterior, but from some angles the sillouette is just strange and amazing.

the inside speaks for itself. not home-y exactly (julian schnabel won't live there), but fricken' gorgeous. if a little cold.

i want to see some lone figure alone inside using a remote control at night, somehow.

Re: the waterfall - an ozone system will rid you of that chemical smell, but more importantly, I'd like to personally be there when you tell our dear Miss Kathy Griffin (she has one in her home, although rarely turned on - not by any means saying her's is the "nicest house on the block") that she is persona non grata for having one -- she'll shred you to pieces before you sprint yourself halfway to the cocktail cabinet!

    Jack,

Come east to Long Island, dear - it looks like EVERY other house in Muttontown. The only difference being the view - instead of LA, you get to see the ruins of an old estate, instead (those nouveaux riches find them so charming next to their ultramoderns - they add such atmosphere..

  22. YES, While living here on planet earth I want to live in a "space-ship". My retina's were burned so badly on page one of photo's, I could NOT continue.
Lot's of people have "money". Few have taste. Thankfully many rich people know the difference, AND, as your mama would say; "hire them a nice gay decorator!"
Grow up Jack, some day you will see a REAL estate property.

  29. I disagree that the location of 1 Electra Court "sucks". Killer views, 8 acres, no nosy neighbors looking over the fence.

The house was built in 1990, designed by a guy named Richard Schwartz (whose firm seems to be located in the residential neighborhood at the bottom of the hill). I can't find any other houses/buildings by him. Zillow shows a sale in '97 for only 2.5m. An undated mention on an agent's site listed an asking of 4.3m.

I would have thought based on the photos "Jack" linked that the house was exactly furnished as built but the realtor site shows the curved staircase railing as a cream color. The decorators among us would get hives to realize those must be posters tacked up on the wall above the stairs because the wall is curved. They are missing in the realtor photo, and the sculpture at the bottom of the stairs is replaced by a large vase.

I'm guessing no celebrity owner (certainly not Merv Griffin). In fact, I bet no one actually lives there. Probably owned by an investment group who rents it out for functions (possibly including Sony) and is too cheap to update the place. Or even move the cheap cars and trash cans to take the photos.

10,000 people on the property at one time? I seriously doubt that. LAFD would never allow it.

I'll pay $300 to rent for a party.

  30. Back to Little Ricky - if he threw in the recently used linens, he might get his price . . .

  31. Don't know why we're discussing it, but as long as we are, I think "1 electra" looks like the typically tacky "contemporary" style home that people from Long Island, New Jersey, and middle America drool over....tres Nouveau riche, the kind of "modern" white elephant that sits perpetually unoccupied in the hills only to live life as the set for porno movies and the site of contestant housing for the next season of some dreadful reality show (American Idol? The Bachelor? The Surreal Life? The Apprentice LA? take your pick....)

    ReplyDelete
  32. To satisfy "Jack", however, public records I accessed show the owner as someone named Kenneth J Anderson and the Olympus trust, with a Las Vegas address, and the most recent sale price being $4.4-million in March of 2002...not standing by the accuracy of that info, that's just what I found through a quick internet search.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 10,000 people? puh-leeze! The street would be so blocked up with vehicles you'd never reach the god damn house!

You asked on the previous Julian Schnabel thread, scroll down to the next property & you'll notice a big pink building, click on the comments and you are talking about the Electra property there also - geez, talk about short term memory!

In all honesty though, I'm horrified that in a city like L.A that probably has some of the best residential architecture in the entire world, you're online praising some corporate party house that looks like a filming location for countless pornos [ask lil gay boy!] ... It's tacky, tacky, tacky AS HELL!

go & google 'case study houses' & that will show you that great architecture is generally very simple design - o.k?

    ReplyDelete

  37. There is (or was) a Kenneth Anderson in Vegas working as an RE agent. Both his web sites "kenshometeam" and "soldinseconds" are dead. I wonder if the same person and the house was just an investment. I still don't buy that Griffin or Sony ever owned. Or that they had 10k people up up there.

    ReplyDelete

Anon is right, not just about the case study houses, but this "Electra" place looking like a gay porn set - happens all the time in those Muttontown ultras . . .

  39. There was a crowd of 10,000 through out the night on New Years in 2006, I was there, it was raining and when the downtown party was canceled in LA a lot of the stars and performers including black eyed peas, pussy cat dolls ended up at the 1 Electra Drive estate, the owners had 2 acres outside of the mansion covered in huge tents to hold the extra crowd.

I was also there in the 90's when merv griffin owned the place, they had the most amazing world class multimillion recording studio up there, unbelievable views.......

I heard that 7 young playboys from Europe live up there now and that one of them invented something on for the internet.

One of my buddies made an offer on the place last year and he was turned down.

I also heard that the place has also been recently remodeled

and that waterfall had to be at least 30 feet high and the pool is around 2000 sqft.

    ReplyDelete
  40. So_Chic, whatever a rock star drinks mansion is, we don't want to go there I'm sure. I've recently become aware of a phenomenon in some houses called the "gift wrapping" room. Appalling. But a mansion for drinks? Obsene excess.

    ReplyDelete
  41. While I'm not going to call anyone a liar, I for one would personally love to here how getting 10,000 people to one house in the Hollywood Hills on the same night would be performed from a logistical standpoint...were they using a train of buses or helicopters from a staging area on Sunset Boulevard, LOL?!? Ever been to Vegas? Sometimes it can hard to fit 10,000 people into the frickin' Bellagio!!! just sayin'

    ReplyDelete
  42. A drinks mansion sounds perfectly lovely, but a rock star drinks mansion? Impossible! Can you imagine all the breakage? I like my Tanqueray bottles intact, thank you. I can't advocate some speedball rampant musician tearing through my bar in a fit of pique because there is no Grand Marnier creme brulee (because he smashed the bottle of Grand Marnier two hours ago and can't remember, the poor thing).

I refuse to chase the link to this waterfall-privileged structure.

    ReplyDelete
  43. rockstar drinks is an energy drink that is sold at supermarkets, similar to red bull.

they have mansions where they have parties once in a while.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Jack (Zach?): Given all you do know about this Electra house, I'm surprised the identity of its owner still has you stumped. I, for one, am happy to assume it's this internet Boy Genius, about whom you seem more certain in your last post, and who appears to have gained a fun-loving entourage since your first. Good for him.

Also, 10,000:2 isn't the greatest person-to-acre ratio for a party, particularly at a private house in the hills. Forget about getting a drink -- I'd worry about asphyxiation.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sorry to put it so crudely, dear friends, but it all sounds like BULLSHIT to me . . .

    ReplyDelete
  46. Well it was wall to wall of people, you could barely move around.

It would take an hour to get to the restroom and another hour just to use it.

I also said that it was 10,000 there at any one time, I heard through out the night it was more like 50,000 coming and going.

The party was outside on the 2 acres and the VIP was inside on 3 levels, the mansion is 12000 sqft, or so I am told. Lucky for me I was with one of the bands but even with that it was still way to crowded.

  53. I do not have any blogs
just curious about who owns the estate

    ReplyDelete
  54. Let's please stop already about this "Electra" house, can we?

While not the FUGLIEST house in the world, its main attraction seems to be Zach's fond (and possibly chemically-altered memory) of what was most probably a rather large bash at the place.

Emotional attachments to real estate, even when not our own or of those we admire, can certainly cloud our judgment, as it seems to have done here.

Zack, I'm glad you had a good time at the party and have fond memories of it, but don't you think the thrill of being there may just have clouded your architectural judgment just a tiny bit?

    ReplyDelete
  55. lil gay boy:

if Sony Pictures owned it and Merv Griffin owned it and it is the hangout for mega stars how bad architecturally can it be ?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Bwah!

Yes, because Sony and Merv are the arbiters of taste in...oh, never mind.

    ReplyDelete
  57. May we please move on?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Alessandra:

Do you know that Merv Griffin was one of the pioneers of the TV industry, was a multi billionaire, owned hotels around the world including the beverly hilton, then we have sony pictures as well that previously owned the place, they richer than 90% of the moguls /stars mentioned in these blogs that bought and or sold homes. Merv created trends and taste....... also to the other condensending idiots on this blog, a porno house ? please....

    ReplyDelete
  59. Thanks Jack/Zach, because I had no idea who Merv Griffin was or that he was considered by anyone to be an arbiter of good taste and design.

None the less, maybe you should check this out:

    http://realestalker.blogspot.com/2007/02/merv-griffin-in-carmel-valley.html

Yes, the location is lovely, but the rose colored carpeting not so much.

Being really rich has nothing to do with style, taste or good decor. Plenty of really rich people live in ugly and expensive houses.

It's great that you like this place on Electra. Most here didn't like it but that's okay. You like it. Enough said.

Now then, I'm with anon, let's try to move on soon?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Look all I want to know is who the real owner of the place on Electra Drive is.

The truth is that my ex girlfriend is going out with the owner, his name is not Ken, so either she is being duped or the real owner is someone else.

I still look out for her and I know that LA is full of BS artists , I do not want her to get jerked around so that is that.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Oh Jack.

If your ex is dating the owner, why don't you just call her rather than put us all through this nonsense?

P.S. I think the owners name is Eddy.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I just talked to her, She said his name is Wayne, the one she sees, he owns 50 estates in LA and malibu and thousands of highrises throughout the US, that is all she will tell me.

Personally I think she is getting conned

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh Jack.

    You're just being ridiculous now.

Not even billionaires Larry Ellison and Jerrold Perenchio, who together own enormous swathes of prime Malibu properties, own 50 estates. Combined.

No offense, but my personal opinion is that you're like 13 or 15 years old and trying to act big. I need to be done with this Electra Court stuff. It's making me sad and choking my soul.

    Good luck in your quest.

  68. I'll tell you who owns 1 Electra Ct. - Eddy Aslanian. He had a computer company that went public in 1999 and owns the house under Olympus Trust so that he doesn't have to pay California taxes.. he claims he lives in Nevada, but in reality lives in LA. He hangs out with rich, old coots who have sex parties (seriously) and egos the size of Texas as well as sleazy LA friends who can only discuss doing lines of coke or threesomes -pathetic. You can find Eddy on www.sugardaddyforme.com under Eddya or www.millionairematch.com under Eddylion. He had friends who are club promoters so he lets them use his house to throw parties - why would he allow his friends to throw parties at his house you ask? So he can be popular and meet more pretty girls - who are initially impressed by his wealth.. but well, that only lasts so long. Then he finds himself, once again, looking for backup women. He is in search of love, but isn't able to find anyone who will meet his high standards.. as well.. nothing or no one will ever be enough. He hasn't had a real girlfriend in years sadly. Money can impress people.. but it does not buy everything - not good friends, good taste, class or love. The house is decorated in a modern motif.. but lacks warmth and actually feels rather dirty from the throngs of people that have treked through there. It does have an amazing view.

  70. the "anonymous" with e.aslanian info is absolutely correct - also, she, and i can bet my life on it, forgot to mention that eddy has a buddy named lucas who's pretending to be a "famous french model" so our naive american girls cannot help themselves but jump on this guy. his main job is to go to a bad, invite the whole place to eddy's place and have an open girl buffet.....also, there was a girl named jill wagner, who is now a "mecury" or "buick" commercial girl and who was eddy's "assistant" for some time....of course, that job included having sex with both guys....that lucas guy could use shower more, and use less cologne....
