Some Icing on the Fleur De Lys Cake
UPDATE: Happiness can be so fleeting children. The spectacular video has unfortunately been removed from YouTube. Thank your lucky stars if you saw it and if you didn't well, you missed something really great.
Over the last week or two Your Mama has been contacted by a lot of folks who all had something to say to about Fleur De Lys, the Bel Air mansion owned by larger than life dee-vorcée Suzanne Saperstein, who we're told by one insider "could spend a million bucks during a half hour lunch and still have room for dessert."
We received email from former employees of the Sapersteins. We received a few amateur photos of the interiors. And we even heard from one of the many decorators responsible for the over the top decor who told us Miz Saperstein's bed is an EXACT replica of Marie Antoinette's bed at Versailles. What?!
But our favorite email was from a gal whom we'll call Barbie Doll, who hooked us up with an amazing video of the LA Gay Mens Chorus camping it up on the grounds of Fleur De Lys. Barbie also told Your Mama that the big blond is none other than Miz Suzanne Saperstein's assistant who works it all out in her rainbow mini dress.
Words fail to describe our extreme delight at receiving this video, and Your Mama is not too embarrassed to tell you we peed a little from hysterics while watching it the first time through.

ReplyDeleteIm actually rather disturbed after watching that ... funny nonetheless ... Though if that is the assistant I find it pretty disrespectful to use your bosses home like that ... unless of course the sap's knew about it - which i highly doubt.

ReplyDeleteEven if the formerly Sapersteinzzz don't realize that their interiors are a joke of a sorts, they can still poke fun at the property. Thank God! I'm sure she knew about this video, and I just picture her with a martini standing next to the cameraman/director/producer/boyfriend of lead drag queen, and laughing her a** off. What I really hope is that during the choreographed "v" dance number in front of the house, Mr Saperstein was up in his study overlooking the goings-on. That may well have been when the divorce seed was planted.
ReplyDeleteGood point, with an e. It occurred to me that if Ms. Saperstein isn't completely out of her mind, then she must have an extraordinary (to the tune of $125 Million) sense of humor. In that context, the video makes sense in more ways than one :)

This video should have broader distribution than YouTube. It is great fun, and hope it means that the Sapersteins have a sense of humor and had some fun while living in their monstrousity.

ReplyDeleteGays are talented in the fields of makeup, fashion, interior design, hair styling, etc.
But they have THE WORST taste in music; Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, boy bands like INSYNC and Backstreet Boys, Cher, Liza Minnelli, Barry Manilow, etc. Yikes.
Sometimes gays strike gold with Elton John or B. Streisand, but more often they are listening to bad disco.
Yes, all we do is sit home and listen to disco music.
ReplyDeleteYou people are a bunch of sick hypocrites. The Saperstein's are all amazing and deeply caring people. Mrs. Saperstein is a well-known philanthropist who has dedicated her time and money to several charities. She has supported the gay community enormously and holds an annual equestrian event to raise money for children in need. Mr. Saperstein is an honest self-made man who should be admired for his accomplishments. How dare any of you ridicule these people who have given back so much to their community. They've worked hard and honest to make their money and as far as I am concerned they can spend it however they wish. Mr. and Mrs. Saperstein grew up with the same means as many of you and made something of their lives - you people on the other hand sit at your computers and bicker in your jealous rants. Get over yourselves.
ReplyDeleteI know the assistant. And I know that he is in deep **** over this video being connected to her house. She knew about the video but feels it is negatively impacting the sale of her house. Personally, I believe it's the ridiculous price and decor. And the anonymous person defending them certainly has NEVER meant them. Had he/she, they certainly wouldn't feel the same way.
ReplyDeleteMAMA!!!I am addicted to your web site. I loved the "icing on the cake." There is no way that it's exposure could hurt a sale in ANY way. What is the point of spending 125 mil if you ain't gonna have a little fun. This expertly done piece of cinematography is priceless! Wish I would have thought to download it. I'm going to have the supper club recreate what I can remember. My life would NOT have been complete without having seen the video. Hopefully the publicity will sell that over priced, maintenance monster to the next EGOMANIAC.

ReplyDeleteThis video was great fun. We sent it to one of our friends that have a house on the same scale as Fluer DE Lys and said we wanted to "borrow' their house one weekend if it was o.k. with them. They were all for it. What a riot. Wish it had not been pulled!!!!
