Is there a single person among us chickens and children...

...who isn't foaming uncontrollably at the mouth to see the soon-to-be-released Lauren Greenfield-directed documentary The Queen of Versailles about time-share tycoon David Greenfield and his conspicuously consumptive wife's epic (and unsuccessful) journey to build a garishly opulent 90,000 square foot super mega-mansion outside of Orlando, FL?

If you don't know already about it, the newly released trailer will both horrify and whet your appetite but good. We suggest you pair the trailer with a stiff gin & tonic or some other mood stabilizing substance of your preference. Enjoy.

If this movie is not in my city, then my auntie will see me in NYC.:)

Been drooling over this since Sundance.

Mama, that would be David Siegel, not Greenfield. You can also call him Seagull or WhiteTrash, both of those are also applicable.

I do feel sorry for them, however. This is what happens when you build a house just to be the biggest, instead of building to incorporate carefully planned out spaces (as I did with the Manor).

Hi, Studly Hightower here. Just viewed the trailer at my State of NJ government job work-station, where I'm no longer allowed to keep my Jack Daniels, only my physician- prescribed lorazepam. Needed to take two after watching this tribute to vulgar and excessive consumerism and ...z-z-z

These disgusting people are a screaming ad for confiscatory taxes on the super rich. Take the money away from them before they squander it stupidly as they habitually do. Use it to lower the national debt for the benefit of all. Use it to fund Medicaid. Whatever. Make sure it is recycled to the decent people who need it. PS No silly plutocratic response, please. I don't dupe easily.

Is it just me or does this biddie look like an early-stage Jocelyn Wildenstein?

And, here I was thinking Suzanne Saperstein was the Queen of the Fake-Versailles. Lordy, Mama. You have proved me WRONG!!

Hunnies, you're going to have to fight me tooth, nail, and fake boob to wrest me from the front of the line opening day! May the biggest bitch win. This is an Oscar contender!

A little test, "Candy", do you know who I speak of when I say Charles Z. and Mary Jane? You should. Carla probably might.

3:56 - Plutocratic response:
The super rich work for a living, too. Show us how much of your wealth you 'recycle' to those less financially fortunate than you. It's the middle class living wildly beyond their means that need a tether. Think how many people Siegel employs. How many do you?

I remember when our dear Mama first mentioned this; my reaction has not been tempered by time:

"As for "Versailles", it defies description –––– much in the same way the details of Virginia Rapé's autopsy report do..."

I read that Bravo TV bought the rights to the film and they will air it on Bravo later in the year.

3:56, you've been posting the same thing over and over for months. Sweetie, don't you get it? We don't care and never will. Now go get those fishlips of yours fixed and drink something to help you lose weight because hunny, that just ain't cute. Ain't nobody wanna here you spew that ol' bullshit again and again.

When you compare that cardboard crapshack they DARE to call "Versailles" (wonder if they pronounce it "for sales") to this house I visited yesterday for lunch, it make you want to just pee on the Siegels: http://realestalker.blogspot.com/2010/10/another-biggie-on-block-in-bu.html

Doug, i do know who you're talking about. Still feeling the loss of son CZ Wick. You know that's not the real Candy, right?

Candy Spelling said...

Carla, for shame! I thought you were on Mama Candy's side. There goes your invitation to my delightful Sunday brunch.

@Carla Ridge,

I rather suspected that "Candy" might just be "Candy" on here, but I wasn't sure and it doesn't really matter; I still enjoy her posts. But, I really felt YOU would know Charles and Mary Jane with you being friends of Merv Griffin. I completely trust you as (and I hate to admit this) I didn't really "stalk" you but, I went looking for the book someone mentioned you were writing on Trousdale and MCM. I really enjoy your insight and knowledge on those and many other topics. Love when I see your name on a post and you give us the "backstory"!

Doug, dear -- just google "Over The Top Trousdale Estates" and I think you'll find what you're looking for.

I've actually met the real Mrs. Spelling a few times. She's very funny and surprisingly hardworking in her role as an LA City Parks Commissioner. If I thought i'd alienated myself from the *real* Candy's brunch circle, i'd be much chagrined.
