Chris Brown Angers West Hollywood Neighbors

BUYER: Chris Brown
LOCATION: West Hollywood, CA
PRICE: $1,600,000
SIZE: 3,175 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Last month trigger-tempered and tantrum tossing entertainer Chris Brown closed escrow clean-lined contemporary penthouse condo atop a newly-built 7-unit complex in West Hollywood, CA for which property records and previous reports reveal he paid $1,600,000.

Now, just a month later, his new neighbors area are having a full-on hissy fit because of Mister Browns (allegedly) raucous late-night ways. One person (who may or may not be a resident of the building) told gossip juggernaut Radar Online that other tenants in the building are getting sick and tired of Mister Brown's "posse traipsing around until the late hours of the night."

Mister Brown's 3,175 square foot penthouse crib, according to listing information Your Mama teased up out of the internets, occupies the entire top floor of the four-floor building and includes 3 bedrooms and 3.5 poopers.

Interior amenities include direct elevator access, bamboo flooring–there's wall-to-wall carpeting in the bedrooms, double-paned windows, private terraces, high ceilings, no common walls (besides the floor), stainless steel kitchen appliances, designer-appointed poopers with separate tubs and showers and secured parking for two cars in the underground garage.

Despite three Grammy nominations, Mister Brown remains–arguably–far more famous for the 2009 physical altercation he had with his ex-girlfriend Rihanna than he will ever be for his music.

Mister Brown was represented in the purchase by none other that über-agent Mauricio Umansky who is not only married to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Kyle Richards but–Your Mama hears through the reality tee-vee gossip grapevine–will be featured on the upcoming reality program Selling Los Angeles, a spin off of HGTV's Selling New York program.

Mr. Brown, Mr. Green, Mr. Black, Miss White, Lady Red, Widow Violet....who are all these nonentities you keep telling us about? Neither they nor their houses are of much interest, I have to say. Sorry, Mama, you are the best, but sometimes you descend to levels too low in your search for "interesting" real estate.

12:02 With all due respect, just because you don't know or care who Misters Brown, Green or Black are doesn't mean they aren't HUGELY famous people well known and even liked by huge numbers of people. I'm not defending them, I'm defending Mama's reasons for posting about these people. If you want to be helpful maybe you could forward Mama a list of pre-approved celebrity real estate subjects. That way you'll never have to read another thing about a person you've never heard of or don't personally deem worthy of discussion.

Excellent blog and I can't wait until karma greets CB at the front door.

I looked at the Radar article, and there was something about the other residents being "professionals" i.e., non-celebrity people, I'm inferring.

If you are a noisome night-owl with money, why not buy something (a house on some land?) where you could just do all that?

A condo seems an odd choice. By definition there will be close neighbors who might want to sleep at night.

Seems like young Mr. Brown (isn't he 21?) could use a better manager/financial advisor. A single family in the Hollywood Hills would have been a much better investment than a condo in that location.

The bamboo floors are no doubt contractor/developer specials - the cheapest material installed by unskilled labor - and would make a mouse sound like a clydesdale. Places like this building should be rentals, buyer beware.

Chris Brown is going to piss off just about everyone he runs into. He has unresolved anger issues that I actually thought he had taken care of... He's a str8 up loser. I wouldn't want him for a neighbor!

i tend to agree with the first comment despite being a long time fan of this blog. It's been on a down slide lately. Here's hoping there are some transactions that are more worthy of Mama's writing talent coming up soon!

Well I do apologize if it seemed that I was dissing Mama in any way. I repeat, "she is the best". Nonetheless I see stories about real estate where I'd like her exhaustive touch applied such as to the 100 million dollar Silicon Chateau purchased by the Russian Yuri Milner. He may not be a Tinseltown celebrity, but he's got 100 million to spend on a house. That makes him somebody of note, I would say. Then there is the saga of the widow Kluge (who remarried) and her Charlottesville Estate, about which I don't think we had the final word. Or did we?

FIrst of all, both the first commenter and Anges are retarded. I do not like Chris Brown, but he is one the major R&B talents presently in the mainstream to say his purchase isn't worthy bc you don't like his is just rude and disgusting. Go read some other blog then... this is about celebrity housing,... and yes, one of the ajor R&B stars is a celebrity dumb shits.

what a boring looking place.

so people interested in homes (and owners) with style, grace and substance are RETARDED? That's just about the level of these new money low lives that you seem to be fascinated with. Quite understandable.

Can't say I'm surprised, either by Mr. Brown's decision to buy an ill suited personal residence, or by his lack of consideration for his neighbors.

Good points Lady J. I had to have the entire floor of a top story condo I bought for my college student kids to live in ripped up, soundproofed, and thickly carpeted to satisfy the occupants living below them, and they are nothing like Chris Brown thank gawd, lol.

Mama, I know I don't have to say this, but don't change a thing you're doing. If anything, I'd recommend slowing down a bit because I don't know how you manage to be such a consistently prolific, interesting, and humorous writer and still have a life of your own. Many thanks for the countless hours of reading enjoyment you've provided us over the years!

@ Anon 2:26 -

I just looked up the Kluge Charlottesville estate. WOW!!!!!

Mama, if you haven't covered it already, I agree this would be worthy reading and would love to know more about it. Foreclosure? Auction? Holy wine barrels, Batman, how do these things happen.

Even though there is a thriving nightlife in the area that clientele pretty much drives in from other far more affordable neighborhoods. Newly affluent young buyers are then baffled when their professional 9 to 5, nose-to-the grind stone neighbors do no welcome them with open arms. Even if he bought in the West Hollywood hills I doubt he would have received a better reception. Those houses are almost as close to each other as condos and their owners are just as staid. Not as bad as little old ladies from Pasadena but I am sure they do not want their beauty sleep interrupted either.

See the archives - February, 2010 for discussion of the Kluge house.

5:43 Yes Mama discussed the drop in the asking price from 100 million to 48 million, but did not, to my recollection, go on to tell us the rest of the saga: that it was sold at auction to the Bank of America for about 14 or 15 million. That's a price cut of about 85%. Perhaps Mama found this so overwhelming she simply could not write it up.

Mr. Brown is very smart. Having a top floor unit, and having his posse create a distraction, covers up the screems of his Ho's he is
beating up

Posse-traipsing is very hot right now in virtually every single "luxury" rental apartment building in The Valley. This includes 24 hour a day pot smells wafting through the halls, chicken bones thrown into the community swimming pool, Lakers games being turned up as loud as possible at all hours of the day and night, and a nice uneasy sense of tension all around the property.

Not bad for 3,000 a month and up.

Chris Brown is definitely not blog-worthy...and obviously has no taste in real estate.
Poor downstairs neighbors. They´re going to be hearing him screaming, shouting and stomping quite a bit. There goes the neighborhood!
