YOUR MAMAS NOTES: It probably goes without saying that Your Mama knows about as much about car racing as we know about birthing babies, but since we like to cover all our bases with the children of all stripes, this one's for all you NASCAR fans out there.

Thanks to a talkative tipster we'll call Racecar Rudy we've learned that thirty-something year old NASCAR hot shot Elliot Sadler recently listed his house in Mooresville, NC for sale with an asking price of $4,500,000.

After receiving a communique from Racecar Rudy Your Mama took the internets just to figure out who this Mister Sadler person is. What we learned is that in addition to making a sweet living driving a suped up automobile around a race track at unholy and unsafe speeds, he's just about to get mahreed to a gal named Amanda who may (or may not) have had a hand in Mister Sadler's decision to sell off his big ol' bachelor pad in The Point, a hoity toity gated development on Lake Norman centered around a Greg Norman designed golf course and home to more NASCAR racers than Your Mama could ever care to name.

Property records show the 1.45 acre lake front parcel was purchased in September of 2005 for $1,362,000 and the 7,067 square foot mansion of no architectural significance was built in 2006. Listing information reveals the race car driver's residence includes 4 bedrooms an 5 full and 2 half bathrooms.

Other amenities include a great room, a petit dining room with a wish is was baronial style table and chairs and paned windows looking out towards the Lake Norman shoreline. The kitchen looks to Your Mama like it was imported from the 1980s and includes de rigeur stainless steel appliances and three silver leafed stools lifted from the local Applebys.

The main floor, which we'd bet our long bodied bitches Linda and Beverly has a too large impress the guests style foyer, is completed by a media room, a master suite and a family room with a built in bar with three more ass-uglee stools and a Miss Pacman machine, and laundry facilities. The second floor offers three bedrooms and an exercise area.

The Sadler grounds include a long driveway, what appears to be minimal landscaping, garage parking for 4 cars, covered terraces for entertaining and viewing a ridiculously large 60" plasma boob-toob, a dining area with fireplace and a built-in barbecue for grillin' and chillin' during the summer months, a swimming pool, spa, and a pier and boat dock large enough to accommodate a 40 foot boat.

Your Mama has a clue or care where Mister Sadler and his new bride will be settling after then nuptials, but we none the less wish them well in their upcoming coupling and a happy new home wherever that may be.

This house is underwhelming to say the least.

The interior makes it obvious that a straight man with no taste lives there.

That driveway. Wow. That thing looks too narrow for another other than a Mini Cooper. It is so suburban. Concrete that's not even dyed or stamped! Either of those treatments would make it acceptable.

For being in NC, this house sounds overpriced. I don't care about the location and it being where the rich congregate. It still seems pricey. I know nothing about NC real estate though -- just that one of its charming features is that it's supposed to be a lot cheaper than many areas of the country.

I think that unless they do a drastic price chop, you could write a follow-up about this home in a year about how it's still on the market.

Especially with NASCAR earnings recently becoming flat...

NASCAR originated in NC (according to my S/O -- like you, Mama, I have no interest in racing), and there's a track in Charlotte. Mooresville, according to Google Maps, ain't too far away. So that accounts for all the raceboys congregating in the area. But if any house needs a nice gay decorator, it's this one. Darryl Carter needs to get on the interstate STAT!

Mooresville & Cornelius are loaded with NASCAR drivers. Northwestern suburban Charlotte is where all the race teams are based mostly.

This house isn't as bad as these terrible pictures would appear. The 7,000 sq ft figure doesn't include the finished daylight lower level as well. The house is on a prime lot in the neighborhood with water wrapping around the back and side of the home.

The drivers in NASCAR are still making boat loads of cash so I doubt its a financial concern that he is selling the house. Wifey wants something else.

At least he was consistant in his bar stool selection - both decoratively and numerically.

And, I use the term "decoratively" loosely when referring to his stools

;-)

It looks like an overpriced $4.5m home, that has extremely small rooms for the size of the house, or either very bad pictures. I think its a builder basic ugly house that needs some upgrades, and they are hoping that they can sell this house to someone who is blinded from the rest of the house because of the view.

I do believe this is what the term "fugly" was made up to describe.

You said "his stools"

heh heh

It would be spectacular is there wasn't an ugly house blocking the view. Mama nailed its lack of architectural interest but kudos for including something inspired by Talledega Nights (sp?)

Boring house.
Very overpriced for North Carolina.
That price would be ok for California but not there.

Dressed up (o.k. - stripped & dressed from scratch) this place would be fab. The photos don't do much for the ugly interiors, but the lake & trees look awesome at that time of day.

Mullioned windows with a view this nice is criminal.

Funny, just last night I was looking at pics of Kevin Harvick's (another Nascar driver) 22,000 Sq Ft house and wondering why we don't see any Nascar driver's homes on Mama's wonderful site. Well, lo and behold ... Mama's got all the bases covered.

Oh, as for this house ... bleh

That kitchen is class!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Is it me, or does that kitchen look ridiculously small for a 7,000+ square foot house? When I looked at the photos before reading Mama's write up, I thought it was the kitchenette in the media room or something.

where are the pictures of kevin harvicks house anon 456?

This boring house could be a builder's spec house anywhere. What a waste of an otherwise pretty location. In the bottom left picture (game room perhaps?), is that a squarish chandelier I see hanging too low all by itself in the foreground? It's probably supposed to be over a pool table that's strangely absent in this house. Don't ALL bachelor pads have pool tables?

This place definitely needs a gay decorator for enhancement. There must be one nearby...find Jeff Gordon and ask him.

I've always thought pictures shown on a listing were the best parts of the house--if this is the case, the rest must be butt-ugly--well butt-uglier than what was shown. The interior looks like a cheap apartment.

Wow, I just saw the CMT Cribs of Denny Hamlin (whose house was featured on here a few months back), Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvicks massive house.

Didn't know Kevin and Delana were such size queens, that house is huge. Guess owning his Nationwide team has been very lucrative for Mr/Mrs Harvick. Kevin's house is beautiful. Denny's house looked better in the video than it does on this website, Kyle house looked like a 23 y/o's house would look, badly decorated and mistmatched.

Mr. Sadler has a (smaller but still quite large) house just outside of Emporia, Virginia, where he grew up. This house is actually in the same yard as Momma & Daddy Sadler's house. Yup.

He has been commuting to the team shop in Statesville, NC by plane anyway, as he seems to spend most of his "days off" during the racing season in Emporia, where the soon-to-be Mrs. E. Sadler is a grade school teacher.

So, I would guess the thinking is why not sell the Charlotte house.

Jamie McMurray lives two house to the north, and Kasey Kahne is just down the street. Jamie and Elliot are close buddies. Indeed Elliot does have a house he built on his daddy's land up in Virginia. I'm sure he'll purchase a condo or smaller house in the area for when he can't travel back or just crash at one of the big suburban mansions of his fellow driver buddies.

I just laugh at people saying NC is lowest cost real estate. Sure, there is alot of land and you can find cheap but Lake Norman is very expensive. Alot of money in the Charlotte area. Of course, having he WW HQs for Bank of America and Wachovia helps but has always been that way.

Who knows what he will get for the house but this cost looks pretty normal for a first week on the market for a Lake Norman property.

This person is DREAMING if he thinks he will get that price. That is an acreage price listing. The house only comes with 1.45 acres.

And where did he get the bar lights, Denny's?

You can get bigger, better, and cheaper McMansions for way less there. I am guessing these prices are also to high for this dead RE market.

Any gossip on which gated community Kendra Wilkinson (girls next door) just moved to?
Saw she had a housewarming party over the weekend in her new digs...

11:55, you sound like a angry realtor that has not come to terms with the downward spiral in prices. Need some RE anger management? This area is nice but not in the same stable$ league of a Tribeca, Bel Air, Malibu, or South Beach home.

Also, this house is built on a man made reservoir, not a natural lake. I wonder how much property values would fall if water levels dropped? I would NEVER buy property on a man made reservoir due to unstable water levels/ drought. Just Look at Lake Powell and Lake Lanier the last few years.

"will sell for around $4m"... you buying it?

Anon 8:13, I lived in Emporia in 95-96 because I worked nearby. Dear God, that town is a dump. I don't care how nice the house is: the town is a dead rat dump and speed trap. GAAAAAACCCCK. I'd think the future Mrs. S would prefer Mooresville.

good house and location.

The house is pretty plain, but Nascar drivers spend little to no time in their homes. I don't understand wasting so much money on something you're never going to enjoy. I don't have that much money to spend anyway!!!

I don't think the house is as terrible as some of you say it is, but I do think it is a shame that he used up one of the best lots in the neighborhood to build an average house.

Coulda been an amazing house to match the setting, but this is what he built. The house could be beautiful with some redecorating and furnishing.

You all live in studio apartments and so calusly attack these home becuase you're all secretely jealous that you are so lame and materialistically pathetic about wanting something you can never have to you stalk celebrities to see what they own but some how its never up to your oh so high standards. Get a clue most of you couldnt afford the taxes on half these houses and have shag carpet and the most hideous outdated furnishings, im sure of it.

Anonymous said...

The house has odd proportions and shapes from the front. I really hope its just these horrible pictures and not really as bad in person. The realtor who has this $4.5mm listing and can't even get a professional photo tour should be shot. It's pathetic.

I won't pretend to be an expert, but I think this house is over priced from what is known here. The house isn't all that big at 7,000 sq ft with some change, the lot while nice isn't like huge that its worth that unbelievabley much more than other lots in the neighborhood. The kitchen looks like cheap tacky laminate cabinetry, the appliances aren't even like SubZero and Wolf.

This house makes Denny Hamlin's place look very attractive for much much more house and a closer to Charlotte location and just $400 g's more. Traffic out to Mooresville SUCKS!!!

Anon 3:23. I couldn't afford a Hockney but that doesn't stop me from thinking his work is crap. By the way........are LGB and Sandpiper on a cruise somewhere? We haven't heard from them for ages.

Get off ELLIOTS BACK. He indeed does have a house outside Emporia.Stop knocking Emporia until you know more about it or you move there. I love living outside Emporia in the country. That type of living was not meant for everyone. The people are great. It is a speed trap though.

i believe the "driveway in the front" is actually a walkway, the driveway is on the back or side where a garage would be?
