YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Your Mama grew up riding around in our momma's big brown and super suped up Oldsmobile with country music super star Tanya Tucker's throaty vibrato blaring on the 8-track singing out tunes like What's Your Mama's Name? and, of course, Delta Dawn.
So when we got wind that she was selling off a house in upscale Franklin, TN our ears pricked up and we started clicking and clacking our keyboard to see what 411 we could find.

Sure enough, and as first reported by The Tennesseean, Miz Tucker has listed a property she owns on Glass Lane with an asking price of $2,000,000. Records show Miz Tucker purchased the property in March of 2008 for $1,075,000. However, according to The Tennesseean, the country woman decided the flip the property (at a significant profit) because while she "loved the whole house," in the end she decided that she much prefers living in a more rural environment where she has enough land to raise up her horses.

Property records and listing information indicate the 5,478 square foot house was built in 2004 and includes 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 2 half bathrooms. The house was reportedly built to fit in with the city's historic district and utilizes salvaged antique doors and stained glass windows.

As far as we can tell, the house includes a small living room where Miz Tucker keeps her white baby grand pie-ana, a formal dining room that looks a little too narrow to be comfortable, an eat in kitchen with granite counter tops and blah blah blah, a large den, a first floor master bedroom suite and an enclosed porch where the above mentioned stained glass windows have been installed.

Upstairs are three more bedrooms fitted and kitted with custom closets, 2 additional terlits for the kiddies and a second den that adjoins a home office. Over the garage are two rooms and a bathroom that Miz Tucker planned on converting to a home studio.

A wide back porch is tucked into the back of the house and overlooks the backyard where Miz Tucker planned on installing a swimming pool before she decided to move back to the country.

Although we imagine that some of the furniture and day-core belongs to Miz Tucker, the house looks staged to Your Mama so is it really fair to talk about the rugs that are too small for the rooms, the artwork that looks like it was picked up at Cost Plus, or the ridiculous serving tray on the kitchen island on which someone unwisely thought it would look cozy to place a couple of candlesticks and a cluster of faux flowers?

What we will say is that we are loving that moire pattern on the dining room table, we always appreciate a cowhide rug like is placed on the brick floor in the enclosed porch, and we can imagine that deep covered porch would be an excellent spot to whittle away the afternoons with a pitcher of gin and tonics and a stack of gossip glossies.

In the spring of 2007, the country crooning icon pocketed a reported $11,500,000 when she sold Deer Park Farm, her 500 acre farm in rural Arrington, TN where she occupied a four floor plantation style mansion that is reported to measure in at a super sized 22,600 square feet. Soon after selling the big farm, it is well documented that after a wild ride across the country with her baby daddy and feuding fiancee Jerry Laseter in hot pursuit Miz Tucker moved to Malee-boo where our sources whispered in our big ear that she leased digs on Carbon Mesa Road. At this point, we really don't know if she and her children are still living there or if she's purchased some place more permanent.

Great curb appeal and looks inviting, but the scale of the interior seems wonky to me.

Two million dollars? For what?

she'll get what she paid for it. if that, since by the look of things SHE significantly overpaid herself. . . from the scenario you describe here, it sounds like ms. tanya tucker is broke. . .

I can't believe how rude everyone is on here with their assumptions about people's finances and the values of these homes. God, the media has really gotten all of you into the "sky is falling" mentality.

Truthfully, only certain pockets with "run-away appreciation" values in the double digets and/or way too much development are in the crapper. A lot of main street USA towns are doing fine, the market is slow because of the credit crisis but homes aren't dropping in value.

According to the commenters of this blog, not one property is every priced right, or even in the realm of what they are worth, everyone claims everything is 2-3-4 times what it shoudl be, but then the properties sell and usually somewhere in the ball-park of where they list. Sounds like all of you living in your studio apartments and crappy 800 sq ft shack houses just try to make yourselves feel better about about your status and your $50k mortgage that you'll never pay off.

oh where to begin with 11:55. . .

first of all, the snarky tone of these comments is a reflection of the snarky tone of the guy who writes this blog. i believe his primary intention is to critique the interior decoration choices of the properties he chooses to feature here. if you are actually a reader of the blog, i'm sure you've noted the high percentage of critiques that don't end well. . . if you are actually a reader of the blog, you will also note that along the way he often gets out his bejeweled abacus to calculate the outsized profit that the seller wishes to realize on said property. . .

now in the case of tanya tucker, she bought the house in march of 2008 for 1m, and here we are in the fall of 2008 and she is asking 2m. the real estate pull at the top of the item says nothing about massive renovations on her part. i'll say no more.

perhaps ms tucker is moving to la and just wants to hold on to a little bit of nashville. but there is also a very high likelihood that she's strapped for money. that would be indicated by the fact that she sold her farm for 11.5m, and then bought this house for 1m. women like tanya tucker don't usually make these kind of lifestyle down adjustments just because they want to simplify their lives. yep, it's just speculation, but then again i can't count the number of times that this mama guy has done exactly the same kind of speculation.

then the last graph of your comment reveals that you are every bit as nasty as the folks you said were so nasty!

If you smart mouth nosey no it all people actually knew Tanya and her family,as I do personally, you would zip your flapping lips. Tanya is a celebrity, yes, but first and foremost she is a woman, mother, daughter, sister and friend. What T does is no ones business but her's. If you don't know what you are talking about, keep your two cents out of it!

tanya tucker may be the bestest woman, mother, daughter, sister and friend (did i miss anything? oh yes, wife. anon 1:50 doesn't mention that one.) in the whole wide world, but i'll continue to speculate, thanks. in fact, i'll speculate right now that tt wouldn't have a clue who this person anon 1:50 is. if they've ever met, it was probably in an airport somewhere.

i'm confused - did tanya sell the place or is she trying to sell the place? why did the price double in one year from $1M to $2M??? forgive me as i must not be too bright. thanks.

Funny what passes for "historical" these days. Glass Lane at this end may be somewhat upscale, but the other end is decidedly downscale & strip-mallish.

Too much money for no perceivable improvements, off-scale rooms, and limited property.

Mama, as for Deer Park, we know she sold it, but who "bought the farm?" I'd like to send a mass card.

Aw crap....

Here we go again with another stal....er...."fan" who thinks they know the celebrity.

And someone woke up the ass with the hardon over Ellen having a hotter wife than he will ever be able to afford (it goes without saying that attractive a woman won't let him touch her for free).

There is obviously something weird about the photos. I'm guessing odd resizing or angles. Time to find a better photographer.

Pure speculation since I don't know Ms. Tucker or pretend to but isn't it feasible that she wanted to live in another part of the country but keep a smaller place in TN where she could stay while recording? We don't blink an eye over actors buying a pied a terre in New York for while they are doing a Broadway show, or a little place in LA while they are on a series or filming a movie. Why should musicians be any different?

As for the doubling the price in less than a year, perhaps one of the local children can fill in some data as to whether Tucker got a killer deal when she bought, or did a lot of work not mentioned in the listing, or is smoking from the same bowl as some of the crack babies that were left on Mama & The Dr. Cooter's doorstep.

killer deal? it doesn't appear so. she paid a million bucks. . . for that. so i'll go with the crack pipe theory.

The dining room is sooo narrow, dreadful. The overall impression this house leaves me with is it's just odd. Don't get me started on the asking price or I'll split a gut laughing.

the house is clearly a mess; what was it Roseanne Barr once said, "we're everyone's worst nightmare - white trash with money."

rock on Tanya Tucker. tasteless maybe, but authentic for sure.

"in my younger days they called me delta dawn ..."
