People who money earns them money (i.e, Romney) pay about a 15% tax rate, unlike people who have to EARN their wage, (i.e. the waiters and caterers at his glitzy parties) who are taxed at probably 35%. Have you not picked up ANY knowledge of how the current tax rates reward the speculator/investor class over that of every one else? It's quite easy to find.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7179311615101890268.post-82225329524805321522012-03-15T12:05:58.115-07:002012-03-15T12:05:58.115-07:008:27 Squaundering his money?? No, you would rather the Govt deliver a spoonful of socialistic sugar to people for doing nothing. This man pays the highest taxes in the nation. Er...the US has become a nation of "crony capitalism" or perhaps a plutocracy, not a democracy any longer, as Reagan's budget director David Stockman has pointed out. The political class is for sale and is bought. Instead of squandering his money on "glitzy parties" and humongous houses, the nation would be better off if it were taxed heavily and used for the common good. Of course the plutocrats have duped the less rich into supporting their status very well. I won't go on re the reasons why the vast inequality in wealth in the US is a bad thing, but far wiser people than you make a powerful case that it is. I won't direct you to their arguments since I suspect you wouldn't understand them in any case.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7179311615101890268.post-51036668671584678112012-03-14T19:35:41.747-07:002012-03-14T19:35:41.747-07:00Why thank you, Doug. I fail to note any particularly redeeming trait in him, as you have described him, and I again have to think how much good it would do our fiscal situation if such people had to pay a really crushing "excess value" tax on their ridiculously costly real estate. If his total holdings = 100 million a yearly tax of 15% would add 15 million each year to the federal coffers and if people like him had to pay the same, it would be a blessing in my opinion.
