Mid-Week Morsel: Zac Efron

As first reported by celebrity gossip juggernaut TMZ, recently rehabbed teen and tween heartthrob Zac Efron bought himself a four million dollar sober house in L.A.'s Los Feliz area. The hillside clinging house, a so-called "Zen Contemporary" at the tail end of a very long and gated driveway that ensures paps can't see him get in or out of his car, has 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in 5,664 square feet plus a separate guest house with one bedroom and one bathroom. Digital listings still show the property as pending with an asking price of $3,995,000 but, oddly enough, records Your Mama peeped show the property last transferred in early October (2013) for $3,995,000.

Not that what Your Mama thinks is worth dog poop but we think Mister Efron's old house, a very serious piece of contemporary architecture in the Hollywood Hills, is a much better house even if it's not quite so private and probably filled with memories of the sorts of things that sent the young A-lister to rehab.

While it's never a smart move for people, post rehab, to have lots of money hidden under the mattress. Neither is it equally brilliant to buy an expensive house, when your career is on hold. I pray this isn't a set up for failure situation.

We're going to be very happy there :)

Despite the steep, cramped lot and the ontopofyou neighbor, it's a more private, warmer contemporary that his other house.

With a somewhat Wrightian flair (right down to the horizontally raked mortar on the somewhat dated pale brick), plenty of wood framed floor-to-ceiling and clerestory windows, and the obligatory view, I think something spectacular could be made of this.

Good bones, IMHO.

Oddly, I was in the house years ago when it was for sale pre-bust for around $7m. Years on and off the market it finally sells. The bones are amazing as is the view. It has a long driveway the wraps around the hillside and you are blasted with incredible views of downtown coming down the driveway before you come around the bend to the house. A few hundred thousand in up-grades and this could be a killer modern with Frank Lloyd Wright influences.

lets hope he has enough sents to re-hire kenneth brown, like he did for his last place.

Great house, great neighborhood. I don't even mind the house in front as you wouldn't necessarily know it was there once you're inside. The house to the east would be more problematic for me but perhaps some well placed trees could block it out.

You are correct that your opinion isn't worth shit. This is an amazing property and the best view home I've ever been to in LA short of something on Woods Drive.
