Jack Osbourne Does It In Two Countries

BUYER: Jack Osbourne
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA (Los Feliz)
PRICE: $2,820,000
SIZE: 4,074 square feet, 4 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: With a bun just about to pop out of his galpal/fiancée Lisa Stelly's babymaker, rock-n-roll scion and reality show star/host Jack Osbourne (Adrenaline Junkie) has jumped on the international real estate merry-go-round with the acquisition of a family-sized mini-compound in Los Angeles (CA) late last year and the more recent listing of his one-bedroom bachelor pad in London.

Mister Osbourne—in his mid-20s, much-tatted, liberally-pierced, low-key and once-gain zaftig—dropped a very adult $2,820,000 in December (2011) to procure a recently restored/remodeled and expanded Spanish-style hacienda in L.A.'s historic (and star-stocked) Los Feliz area.

The property was given an overhaul by the previous owner—property records show it was sold by Emmy-winning director/producer Greg Yaitaines (House M.D., Heroes, CSI: Miami)—that included the addition of a semi-detached street-facing two-car garage with additional living space above. The garage/guesthouse addition allowed what was once a long, wide and unsightly driveway that ran up one side of the residence to be transformed into a piazza-like brick-paved multi-level interior courtyard with a plunge-sized swim current swimming pool and lounging terrace.

Listing information from the time of the sale shows the multi-winged and white-washed mini-manse measures in at 4,074 square feet with the additional caveat that the "Square footage may be larger than posted." Make of that what you will, chickapeepees, but Your Mama guesses the 4,074 square foot figure may not take into account the floor space in the aforementioned recently added guesthouse above the garage.

The main house, built in 1926 according to listing information, contains a total of three bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms including a master suite with private balcony and vintage-inspired bathroom wrapped with vintage (or vintage-style) and equipped with pedestal sinks, a separate, fully-tiled tiled shower and free-standing soaking tub. Each of the two secondary bedrooms has custom built-ins—one with built-in beds, the other with mirrored built-in wardrobes and dressers—and each also has a private, bathroom with vintage (or vintage-style) finishes such as pedestal sinks and honeycomb tile floors.

A deep inset in the courtyard's north facade topped by an inset circular window marks entry to the main house though a rather grand, double-height foyer with tiled floor and staircase with scrolled wrought iron banister. An arch leads into the graciously proportioned "formal" living room finished with milk chocolate colored hardwood floors, white-washed walls, French doors, vintage light fixtures, a vaulted wood-beamed ceiling, and a wood-burning fireplace. The children should keep in mind the furniture and day-core shown in listing photos belongs not to Mister Osbourne but rather the folks who sold him the house.

The milk-chocolate wood floors in the living room continue into the surprisingly picayune formal dining room and on in to, through symmetrical archways in the dining room, a colossal center island kitchen with white Shaker-style cabinets with glass-fronted uppers, both black and white marble counter tops, top-grade commercial-style stainless steel appliances, a short snack counter and a somewhat cramped-looking built-in breakfast banquette.

An wide arch in the kitchen connects to a tiled staircase with scrolled wrought iron banister that descends into an airy and partially paneled family room with wood-beamed ceiling, more milk chocolate-colored hardwood flooring, vintage light fixtures, and French doors that open to the central courtyard. An entire wall of floor-to-ceiling bookcases in the family room was custom-built around a wide archway that connects to a small room of unknown purpose (with attached bathroom) that in turn gives access through French doors to the outdoor cooking and dining areas.

In addition to the central courtyard with the plunge pool, the privacy-minded property also has a wee, high-hedged grassy front yard—the sellers had an expensive-looking jungle gym installed in the space that may or may not have stayed with the house—as well as another multi-level courtyard-like outdoor space at the back of the property with built in raised planters, high walls and tall hedges for privacy and security, an upper level terrace shaded by a pergola structure, and an over-sized lower level dining terrace with a shiny, impressive (and probably not easy to keep clean) stainless steel outdoor kitchen and barbecue center.

Mister Osbourne, who lived at least part time in the high-profile Beverly Hills mansion now owned (and on the market) by pop star Christina Aguilera, is certainly no stranger celebrity neighbors. Near his new Los Feliz residence are homes owned (and/or occupied) a slew of Tinseltowners who include Katherine Heigl (who is right next door), Rachel Bilson, Jon Hamm and long-time lady-mate Jennifer Westfeldt, Liv Tyler, (pianist) Michel Feinstein, and busy-busy-busy Scot actor Gerard Butler who, Your Mama hears through the real estate gossip grapevine, is on the hunt for a new house to call home. But that's another story for another day.

Mister Osbourne also maintains a petite 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom bedsit in London's upscale Marylebone 'hood that was reportedly pushed on the (open) market a week or so ago with an asking price of £610,000. A quick consultation with Your Mama's trustworthy currency conversion contraption shows that amounts to $968,320 (US) at today's rates. Mister Osbourne—along with his soon-to-be baby momma and fiancée Miss Stelly, we assume—plans to swap his 1 bedroom flat for a larger, more family-sized house, so the London property gossips say.

Last week London's The Rat and Mouse blog pin-pointed a small one bedroom in Marylebone listed at £610,000 that may (or may not) be an actual interweb listing for Mister Osbourne's London pied-a-terre (shown above). Listing information describes the compact-looking two-floor flat as being tucked away into the rear of an "elegant Georgian house" on a "quiet residential street" with "contemporary and neutral decor" plus a private patio garden. Now children, again, please recognize that we can not confirm, deny or verify the wee flat in the photographs above is (or is not) owned by Mister Osbourne; We're simply passing along a little celebrity real estate rumor and gossip from across the pond.

I love the built-in children's bed. I also like the tiled arch to enter the bath. Beautiful living room.
Not sure I would have taken out the winding drive. It now makes the front door look rather hidden.

I have this personal resistance the the children of famous people making the seeking of fame their profession as well. There are exceptions where the child is as worthy as the parent, but in most cases, I feel they're taking the spotlight away from others who -- while less 'connected' -- actually have more talent. I don't mind being proven wrong -- go ahead, name a spawn who's better than their sires?

To the prior three commenters: BRAVO!/BRAVA! I've been playing this game a while and the next-best previous answer I got was "Michael Douglas" (the worst was "Kate Hudson"). I don't believe for a minute the sisters Redgrave went into 'the biz' for easy money or to loot swag, or because they had no other marketable talent (same for RDJr and AJ). I'm sure I'm railing more against the reality-TV-progeny parade anyway.
