Afternoon Delight: Petra Ecclestone

In case any of y'all ain't seen it yet, the fashion industry bible known as W recently published a lengthy article pun-ishly entitled Lady of the Manor about Formula One racing heiress Petra Ecclestone and the newly overhauled 56,500 square foot Los Angeles, CA mega-mansion she snatched up last summer from wealthy Tinseltown widow Candy Spelling for a throat-tightening $85,000,000.

We're gonna discuss the article a bit here because we thought it was high-larious and just can't resist. However, Your Mama suggests all y'all scoot on over to W and read the entire thing because it'll be damn delicious to anyone who has any interest at all in the lifestyle of an exceptionally pampered 23-year old heiress with seemingly unlimited access to a multi-billion dollar fortune.

Out, the article's writer Dana Goodyear reveals, went all Miz Spelling's chintz-y, Rich-But-Boring-Grandma day-core and replaced with "dark velvets" and "little crystals." Gone is the gift wrapping room, now an office for Miss Ecclestone's assistant. And away went Miz Spellings (in)famous and—let's be honest—freaky-deaky doll museum, replaced by a fully-equipped spa facility outfitted with massage parlor, three hair stations, and two mani-pedi chairs.

Upstairs there remain six "enormous" family/guest suites and a master suite Miz Goodyear pegs at an astonishing and all but unfathomable 7,000 square feet. The mansion-sized master suite contains, as per the article, a living room, bedroom, kitchen, his and her bathrooms and his and her walk-in closet/dressing rooms, the hers of which is described by Miz Goodyear as having a pair of glass-topped center islands, a second floor accessible by not one, children, but two staircases, and plenty of shelf space for Miss Ecclestone's epic, multi-colored collection of 25 Birkin bags.

Miss Ecclestone, now toiling as a handbag designer for her own label, shares her newly redone Holmby Hills residence, described by Miz Goodyear as all dolled up like a "massive VIP lounge," with a pack of pure bred dogs and her 30-year old husband of six months James Stunt. Mister Stunt, Miss Ecclestone told Miz Goodyear, "owns gold mines," which, she went on to say, is "very random."

Only about a year before dropping 85 million big ones on her Los Angeles residence Miss Ecclestone plunked down a staggering $87 million (or thereabouts) on a 20,000 square foot Grade II listed spread in London's Cheslea 'hood.

Now then, with that as an appetizer, get on over to W and get the rest of the juicy details that will surely make any number of the children drool with envy, foam with righteous anger, or both.

I scanned the article with mild, detached interest. NOW, had this been a hot, blonde cowgirl with mega-bucks buying the Robert Taylor ranch in Mandeville Canyon (yes, I have a one track-mind), THAT would have gotten my motor revving. I'd even take a diesel Ford Super Duty over her Range Rover. And, as far as her husband's gold mines; he's probably only got one shaft that she's really interested in and it sounds like he's struck gold with it.

Thanks for the entertaining read over at "W"....wow, talk about people who live in an ivory tower....

She is so far detached from reality that I actually feel sorry for her. She seems incredibly insecure.

I like the "old money" comment when all of her comments very much paint has as "new money."

I'm all for individuals spending their own money however they d*mn well please, but common, this goes so far beyond conspicuous excess. The fact that it's not even her own d*mn money just pushes it to a Turducken level of innate sadness for the human species (picture Stewie when he accidentally sees Meg in her delicates while playing with his camcorder). The waste of resources just boggels my mind. Now that that's been said, I really hope she has a GPS. Navigating to the high colonic room from the condyloma removal room can be hell without one.

I actually really liked the black and white theme in the interior. The house looks completely different to when candy owned it and it was all done in 9 weeks! pretty impressive if you ask me

I read the article. she acts like a rich dimwit. living the life on daddy's money...playing at being in business. good Lord.

@nursedeb: Did you notice that the "manager" the article mentions is Lauren Bosworth? That's "Lo," of Laguna Beach and The Hills. They're all "playing at being in business" together.

That home looks horrendously tacky. The foyer will haunt me. I'm over this tacky creature, hopefully 88 million dollar apartment heiress has better taste than this tacky Petra creature. But 88 million dollar apartment girl doesn't seem like a mediawhore. Bummer, I would love to read more about her. Afterall, her family is far richer than the Ecclestones.

I read the article and it pretty much told me and what 99% of the other people in the world already knew about this girl, that she is a complete idiot. She is just pissing away all of her money and that vampire giggolo husband of hers is helping himself handsomely to her money.

She is the perfect example why Bill Gates and Warren Buffet chose instead to give away most of their money.

Candy I know you read this blog and I commend you for separating this dummy from a large chunk of her money and selling your home.

As much as I would love to be wealthy, I could never live like this. It's so over-the-top and just gross...

LMAO at the theater picture. Looks like either a thug went through her purse collection and is about to attack her, or hes her gay bff wanting to borowing one. Secondly..I guess money does talk, if she was able to get a contractor to do that scope of work in this short amount of time! I think Candy left behind two of her artworks on the stairs dear...

I'm pretty sure she actually spent $150 on her spead in London. Someone probably forgot to convert the pounds to dollars.

Black and white, that is all these tasteless new money types do at the behest of Candy & Candy. They either took part in this design or she and her designer stole the ideas from them.

All they do is make everything black and white and charge imbeciles tens of millions of dollars for their "genius".

Miss Ecclestone is certainly rich when it comes to things, but she's sure poor when it comes to everything else. Too bad the things don't make you happy or healthly isn't it? Reality is something she doesn't have a clue about. Wonder if she ever thought about doing something good or sharing her wealth instead of flaunting it? I bet not, and I bet, too, she could not find her way out of a rainstorm without some help.

Curbed LA hits her and her mansion hard. Can't link the article, but it's a good read.

God, she looks so difficult to know or be friends with. I would rather have my nice poorish friend that care about who you are then where you live or what you drive. The Spelling's deserved the live there, they made their own money, not her.

Oh la la I am in LOVE! I love this house! The Manor is Reborn! The Manor is now a modern muse for Ms. Petra as she plays her own tale of Marie Antoinette!

Oh the lavishness, oh the homage to self, of the nod to over the top I live more fabulous than 5 star hotels, oh I just eat it up!

Good for her! She has option to spend her monies as she wishes! Viva the uber fabulous! Viva Petra, Princess of Holmby Hills and Chelsea....

While it is true that she probably had to remove the granny-like wallpaper from 20+ years ago that Mrs. Spelling had put in, the re-do is just God awful.

All the beautiful wood in the library (which Mrs. Spelling spent months choosing) has been black laquered. Just horrifying.

Just goes to prove the old adage... money does NOT buy class.

I'm sure the house needed a redo, but it had many lovely features that this tacky woman has destroyed. As 2:11 just pointed out is a good example. The absolutely beautiful wood in the library has now been black laquered. Just awful awful.

Yes, I will take my gladly take my friends who drive Honda Accords and live in normal houses who I know without a doubt care about me and not what I have.

spoiled rich bitch... i hope the city of angels eats her alive. when u have no respect and think you are above everyone else.. karma comes a knockin. as michael douglas says in wall street 2-- "money is the bitch that never sleeps, if you dont watch her she will be gone before u know it"..

fuck the illuminati!

Best line in the W article... "You're not scared if you stain something". While I've always suspected that the likes of Paris Hilton and Marilyn Monroe play up their dumb blonde image for the camera, this Petra creature seems to be the real deal. And I seriously doubt any "old money" would be seen dead in her company.

Not to be rude... But any "wood" that Ms. Spelling would have inspected and picked out I would pick new or paint over too just the horrors!
