Your Mama Hears...

...From the always informative and highly entertaining Kenny Kissintell that celebrity house flipper Diane Keaton–who sold her Ralph Flewelling-designed Beverly Hills mansion to Glee creator Ryan Murphy last year–recently leased another celebrity-owned home in Los Angeles. According to Kenny, a real estate yenta if there ever was one, Miz Keaton decamped her former home in the Bev Hills flats to rom-com queen Meg Ryan's Spanish-style stunner in the hoity-toity hills of Bel Air.

Naturally Your Mama isn't privy to what Miz Keaton pays Miz Ryan for the privilege of shacking up in her gorgeous gated estate, but we do know from a myriad of previous reports that the property was put our for lease in the fall of 2010 with a pocketbook scorching asking price of $40,000 per month. The 6,877 square foot meticulously renovated house has 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms and smoldering fashion guru turned filmmaker Tom Ford as a next door neighbor.

Miz Ryan, who has been trying to sell her Bel Air residence on and off since the dawn of time, currently spends most of her time either at her getaway on Chappaquiddick Island–that's Martha's Vineyard, puppies–or in New York City where it was reported last year in the New York Post that she signed lease agreements for a $25,000 per month three bedroom spread at the Jean Nouvel-designed 40 Mercer in SoHo.

I'm gonna ask my sister, who knows Ms. Keaton real well, what the scoop is. Maybe she'll kiss and tell! ;-)

Honestly, some of us were hoping it was Diane who'd snapped up the Francie Brody place in Holmby Hills. If anyone would have been able to guarantee the integrity of the Quincy Jones/Billy Haines/Garrett Eckbo holy trinity, it woulda been she.

Hmmm, a Pal 'o' mine knows Diane's sister...I wonder whose sis can get the lowdown first? The race is ON ! LOL.

Ms Ryan's house is a meticulously restored stunner, but as with all things real estate-wise, it's location, location, location on this puppy; meaning I'd set not just my pocketbook, but my own mama on fire for a chance to hunker down in Tom Ford's dog house, let alone a 6800+ sq.ft. spread.

I'd be over on the doorstep every day to borrow a cup of cream, sugar, what have you...

How could Diane Keaton afford $40,000 a month? I know she's an experienced flipper in RE and all that, I imagine she's done well, but doesn't that sound sort of excessive for a single lady, whose movie quote is probably not in the julia Roberts league?

Thanks Mama. Yer baby loves candy.

James, has it ever crossed you mind that women like Diane and Meg Ryan have many dozens of millions in their bankaccount? They made truckloads of money with their older movies, so dont you worry about them not being able to afford their homes.

I could see Diane, but for whatever reason, it surprises me that Meg has (and has held onto) this kind of jingle.

My goodness but that house sure is purty.

Anonymous 11:58pm, it wasn't James who stated that info, it was Anonymous 4:14pm.

But I see your point. I guess those guys on Wall Street know how to manage their clients' money, eh? ;)

Happy SuperBowl Sunday to everyone!
