New Digs in Nashville for Jared Followill

BUYER: (Michael) Jared Followill
LOCATION: Nashville, TN
PRICE: $1,825,000
SIZE: 7,441 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 5 full and 2 half bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Last week Your Mama received a covert communique from Frannie Franklin who whispered in our big ear about the big new house teeny-tiny country crooner Kenny Chesney bought in Franklin, TN. A few days later we again heard from Frannie Franklin who snitched to Your Mama that word on the Nashville real estate street is that Kings of Leon bass banger Jared Followill also recently snatched himself up a big new house in his Nashville, TN. So, of course, like we always do when we get word of a celebrity real estate deal, Your Mama had a peep and a poke around the property records and turned up information which shows that in late November of 2009 an entity using young Mister Followill's initials paid $1,825,000 for a newly built modern mansion just south of downtown Nashville in the Green Hills community. For what it's worth, the address in the property records matched identically with the address provided by Frannie Franklin.

Shaggy haired Mister Followill is one of the four Followill family members that comprise the increasingly popular rock band The Kings of Leon. In addition to (Michael) Jared, the band includes his brothers (Anthony) Caleb and (Ivan) Nathan and their cuzzin (Matthew) Cameron. For some reason, the Followills–who named the band after (Michael) Jared, (Anthony) Caleb and (Ivan) Nathan's former Pentecostal preacher father Leon–use their second names rather than their first, which makes things powerful confusing for Your Mama's fuzzy, gin-sotted brain.

Anyhoo, after a fair amount of success in the UK, the band achieved stateside success after the release of their 3rd album in 2008. Not only did that album, Only By the Night, go platinum, the band quickly become a favorite of famous folks like Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, Orlando Bloom and his panty model girlfriend Miranda Kerr, pole dancing teen queen Miley Cyrus, actress Anna Faris, spouse ditching lovers LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian, and Twilight's reluctant superstars Robert Pattison and Kristin Stewart.

Until sometime in late 2009, (Michael) Jared was engaged to catwalker Alisa Torres. Since the pretty pair parted ways, according to the internets, (Michael) Jared is rumored to have gotten all kinds of bizzy with a string of young ladeez including Dancing With the Stars dancer turned country singer Julianne Hough, and Twilight hottie Ashley Greene.

However, who (Michael) Jared squires and desires is really of little or no consequence to the matter at hand, which is his new house. Property records and listing information we managed to squeeze out of the interweb shows (Michael) Jared's new and newly built house, which sits up on a knoll surrounded by much more modest homes, stands three stories tall, measures 7,441 square feet and includes 5 bedrooms and 5 full and 2 half poopers. That's a lot of damn terlits for a young and single man. Your Mama hopes he's got the dough left over to hire a minimum wage terlit gurl to get in there twice a week to scrub all them bowls pearly white.

(Michael) Jared's new nest sits on just over an acre and rises dramatically–if not entirely gracefully–out of a stacked stone retaining wall and the heavily articulated glass, stone and wood exterior elevations have a vague Craftsman meets Frank Lloyd Wright sort of thing happening. The interior spaces have been finished with a modern edge that includes Shaker style, dark chocolate colored cabinetry and a stainless steel tile back splash in the well-equipped eat-in kitchen. Listen pork chops, Your Mama appreciates stainless steel appliances and gewgaws just as much as anyone else but we've never understood this mini-trend of stainless steel tile back splashes because, as far as we're concerned, you really can have too much of a good thing and stainless steel tile back splash and stainless steel appliances is simply, as our friend Fiona Trambeau would say, flooding the car. Okay?

Listing information also indicates that in addition to the formal living room, which claims one of the home's three fireplaces, there is also a dining room, den, and a rec-room with a wet bar on the fully finished basement level.

Property records indicate that young (Michael) Jared owns two other properties in Nasvhille. The first, a 2 bedroom and 2 pooper townhouse east of downtown Nashville that he bought in December of 2005 for just $112,500 and, the second, a townhouse purchased in August of 2007 for $375,000.

Property records show (Michael) Jared's cuzzin and band mate (Matthew) Cameron Followill owns a townhouse in the same east of downtown Nashville complex and his brother (Ivan) Nathan bought a house in the Sylvan Park neighborhood in December of 2007 for $302,500. (Michael) Jared's other brother, (Anthony) Caleb, bought a house just south of downtown Nashville in April of 2008 for $375,000 but, according to multiple reports, more recently scooped up a condominium at The Adelicia condo complex in downtown Nashville, which happens to be the very same building where shooting star Taylor Swift recently picked up an airy penthouse unit for $1,990,000.

No matter who among the famous several rungs above listens to his albums, this is quite the stretch, celebrity-wise, no? And Nashville...tut-tut. No wait, that's Memphis, LOL.

A million-dollar home with bathroom cabinetry that looks like off-the-shelf Home Depot rejects. Yuck!

No wonder Tennessee is making the headlines here on the world's GREATEST real estate info blog.
Tennessee is a beautiful and affordable state...especially if you have the clebrity big bucks.

Nashville rocks!

Memphis is that lil' ol' step cousin settlement way down there in the corner. They always have lots of tourists going through a great big ol' pile of a house looking for the ghost of some formerly famous dude named Elvis(?)

Lordamercy Mama, you found yourself a right ugly one this time. I think you are being kind as to the way the house "rises dramatically, if not gracefully" from a stone retaining wall. But the thing that tickles me the most is how worked up you get when the place has more than five "terlits." Watching the pooper count in your blog is funny as hell.

That amount of money would buy you about 2,500 sq. ft. or less in the Hollywood Hills, right? If I didn't have to live in La la land, I'd go to Nashville in a flash.
